Chapter 291: Chapter 291: Lightning Marriage

Su Mu had focused her work abroad that year, not because she didn’t want to stay in China, but because she thought she should take Su Yimo to more places and show her the world before she started school. At first, she was worried that the little one wouldn’t adapt to the life of constant travel, but after a few trips, Su Yimo actually began to enjoy it, so Su Mu had nothing else to worry about.

Over the year, they had been to plenty of places, and each new location would excite Su Yimo. Perhaps for this reason, she had a language talent unlike her peers. At the age of not yet three, she was already able to converse normally with adults. As a mother, Su Mu was quite proud of this.

But at that moment, the talkative Su Yimo was unusually silent. Su Mu touched her little forehead, and Su Yimo looked up at her with a slight smile:

"Mu, I’m not feeling unwell."

Her temperature was normal; there were indeed no signs of discomfort:

"Then what is Qiqi thinking about?"

"I’m wondering when Mu can wear a wedding dress."

Su Yimo’s question made Su Mu stop in her tracks and look at her sideways, "Why should I wear a wedding dress?"

"To get married, of course. Yuange and I have been looking forward to your wedding. If you get married, I can wear a little wedding dress and be your flower girl."

Su Mu looked at Su Yimo speaking with all seriousness and crouched down to pinch her little nose:

"Qiqi, you want me to get married just so you can wear a wedding dress, right?"

Unembarrassed by having her motives exposed, Su Yimo smiled even more brightly and gently touched Su Mu’s face:

"Mu, you should know, loving beauty is a girl’s nature."

Su Mu shook her head helplessly with a chuckle and gave her a gentle hug:

"If you want to wear a wedding dress, just tell mommy directly, you don’t have to wait for mommy to get married."

"But only if mommy gets married will there be Yuange standing by my side in a suit."

At those words, Su Mu started to get a headache. Why did she feel as if she was about to lose her not-yet-three-year-old daughter? The childhood betrothal once casually mentioned by the old lady seemed like it might actually come true.

After dinner, Su Yimo wanted to go out for a walk, but Su Mu didn’t agree. This wasn’t China after all, and it wasn’t as safe. If it were just her, there wouldn’t be a problem, but she couldn’t risk any danger to Su Yimo. Fortunately, Su Yimo showed understanding, and after Su Mu played some games with her, she took the initiative to ask to bathe and go to bed.

After bathing and putting on her princess dress nightgown, Su Mu lay her down on the bed and lay beside her:

"Do you need mommy to tell you a story?"

Su Yimo blinked her big eyes at Su Mu and shook her head slightly:

"Mu, I’m going to sleep soon. You can go work."

She knew that Su Mu would spend some time editing photos after a shoot, and in order to spend more time with her, she would do this task while she was asleep. Su Yimo felt she shouldn’t delay her too much, or Mu would be very tired.

Su Mu gently ruffled her hair and kissed her forehead:

"Mommy will go after you’ve fallen asleep."

Su Yimo reached out her little hand and gently hugged her neck: "Su Mu, I love you."

This had become her habit, saying ’I love you’ to herself every night before sleep. Su Mu didn’t know where she had learned it, but her heart softened further each time she heard it, and she gently hugged her back:

"Mommy loves you too, goodnight baby."

Only after Su Yimo had fallen asleep did Su Mu carefully leave for the room next door. Worrying Su Yimo would wake and look for her, Su Mu didn’t close the door and set her phone to silent mode. She transferred all of today’s photos from her camera to her computer and then started working, having selected the ones she was most satisfied with.

After editing the photos, she sent a copy to Sun Raorao’s email, asking her to confirm the final effects. By the time she finished all of this, it was already 2 a.m. in France. She calculated the time difference, peeked into the room to check on the sleeping Su Yimo again, and then called Jiang Bei.

"How have you been lately?" Before leaving for France, Jiang Bei accidentally got pregnant. Su Mu had left before she had time to make a decision; it had now been three days, and Su Mu felt Jiang Bei had her answer.

There were a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, and after a moment, Jiang Bei softly replied:

"Susu, I’ve decided to keep the baby."

The answer was not different from what Su Mu had expected. Although Jiang Bei was impulsive, she was a woman and a doctor; taking a living life was not something she could or would do. Still, Su Mu couldn’t be sure whether keeping this child would be a turning point for Jiang Bei.

"Since you’ve decided to keep it, take good care of yourself. Don’t be as reckless as before." Su Mu was silent for a few seconds, then continued, "What about Ji Nanfeng? Does he know yet?"

"Not yet, he’s been abroad recently. I’m thinking of telling him when he gets back."

A year ago, to everyone’s astonishment and disbelief, Jiang Bei hurriedly married Ji Nanfeng, breaking cleanly with Rong Shen. Even Su Mu didn’t know what had happened between Jiang Bei and Rong Shen, or why she chose to marry Ji Nanfeng. During that time, she was busy with a photography exhibition, and Jiang Bei kept her completely in the dark until when Su Mu finally managed to take a break and they met, Jiang Bei handed her a wedding invitation.

Su Mu asked for a long time, but Jiang Bei refused to mention it again.

Although Jiang Bei could be impulsive, her actions were always rational, and she rarely changed her mind once she had decided, so Su Mu generally didn’t meddle in her decisions. However, Su Mu kept bringing it up until the day before the wedding. She didn’t believe Jiang Bei and Ji Nanfeng’s union would have a good ending, nor did she think Ji Nanfeng was right for Jiang Bei, but Jiang Bei never changed her mind.

She said, "Any ending is my fate, and I accept it."

Su Mu had also gone to Rong Shen, who listened patiently as she explained everything. Just when Su Mu thought he would do something, he only smoked silently, finished his cigarette, and gave a bitter smile:

"Su Mu, that’s her decision, and I respect it."

Now that everything has settled, even though Su Mu has been constantly worried for Jiang Bei for over a year, she ultimately stayed with Ji Nanfeng. And Ji Nanfeng showed his sincerity by cutting off all his shady deals. Now that they were expecting a child, everything seemed to be moving in a good direction. Maybe her previous concerns were unnecessary.

Looking at the night sky outside the window, Su Mu smiled faintly:

"In a year, Qiqi will have a little companion."

When Su Yimo was mentioned, Jiang Bei’s mood noticeably lifted: "Yes, I hope it’s a daughter, as sweet and sensible as Qiqi. Then we’ll have two daughters."
