Chapter 259 You Fascinate Me

Chapter 259: Chapter 259 You Fascinate Me

This cheongsam revealed Su Mu’s quiet and elegant temperament without reserve, like a fairy who does not partake in the world’s mundanity and accidentally descended to the mortal realm.

The elderly lady nodded continuously:

"It is indeed beautiful, but the hairstyle isn’t quite appropriate."

While the long hair draping down her shoulders looked lovely, it could have been better, yet Fu Shinian didn’t share that opinion: "I think it looks quite nice."

Beauty in simplicity, devoid of excessive embellishment.

Not everyone can embody such beauty.

Su Mu, feeling somewhat embarrassed by the comments, turned around intending to go to her room to change out of the cheongsam, Fu Shinian saw this and took steps to follow her. Su Shiyue saw this and quietly stuck out her tongue: "Shameless, even wanting to follow sister-in-law when she changes her clothes."

Su Mu was changing in the elderly lady’s room, and just as she was about to close the door, Fu Shinian stopped her, stepped inside, and closed the door behind him, leaving Su Mu feeling inevitably nervous and taking a few steps back:

"What are you going to do?"

Fu Shinian laughed softly:

"This is the elderly lady’s room. What do you think I could do to you?"

Hearing this, Su Mu’s mind was slightly at ease. Even if he were to act recklessly, he wouldn’t go to such lengths here, but even without any threat, she couldn’t accept him watching her change clothes. She used to be uneasy about it even when she had no intention of divorcing, let alone now?

"You should leave; I’m going to change clothes."

"Can’t I watch?"

Su Mu glared at him angrily: "No, you can’t."

Fu Shinian smiled slightly:

"Su Mu, four days have passed since our last conversation. Have you thought it over?"

Over these days, he had been sick, and although Su Mu hadn’t taken care of him wholeheartedly, she still did tend to him. The interaction between them couldn’t be described as intimate, but it was comfortable and free from the previous suspicions and doubts. They could actually get along quite well, especially since, if Fu Shinian wanted to treat someone well, he would give it his heartfelt effort.

He hadn’t pressed Su Mu because he felt her attitude was gradually softening; after all, during the four or five days they spent together, he had never heard the words ’divorce’ uttered from her lips again.

Fu Shinian knew he shouldn’t be hasty, and that he should wait, wait for Su Mu to truly accept him, wait for her to completely forget that unpleasant past, and also wait for her desire to love him again to resurface.

He had thought he had the patience, but when Su Mu appeared before him dressed in the cheongsam just a moment ago, Fu Shinian suddenly felt like she was akin to a wisp of blue smoke that could drift away at any time. In the past, she had stayed because she wanted to belong to him, but once she lost that desire, she could withdraw at any moment.

Therefore, he didn’t want to wait any longer and was anxiously seeking an answer.

This was the first time in his 30 years that he felt such an urgency in the face of love. He had once thought he would never encounter what is called love in his lifetime, but after so many twists and turns, he realized what he wanted was nothing more than the person by his side.

Su Mu looked at him and, after a few seconds, cast her eyes down:

"I haven’t figured it out."

"Have you not figured it out, or have you not thought about it?"

Su Mu’s silence was undoubtedly equivalent to the latter, and Fu Shinian didn’t say anything more. He knew Su Mu would speak when she was ready to share what he wanted to know.

After a few seconds, Su Mu sighed:

"I admit, I admit that I haven’t thought about that issue. It’s not that I don’t want to think about it, but I feel that we’ve been getting along so well recently that I don’t want to think about it. This interaction over the last few days was something I once dared not hope for, but now, I am willing to believe that you and I could actually achieve this."

Fu Shinian gazed deeply at Su Mu:

"As long as you wish, we can always be like this."

Su Mu shook her head:

"I don’t have that confidence."

"Is it towards me, or yourself?"

"Both." Su Mu was very honest, and finally looked up at him: "In this period, you’ve done a lot to retain me. Because of what you’ve done, the thought of divorce has somewhat faded, but who can guarantee that in the future, things between us will always be like this? That there won’t be any more misunderstandings and suspicions?"

Fu Shinian quietly looked at Su Mu for a few seconds, understanding the meaning behind her words:

"Do you think I’ll revert to my previous self after getting the answer that you won’t divorce me?"

Su Mu didn’t speak, but she indeed had such worries. She was scared, terribly scared.

Fu Shinian sighed, took a step towards Su Mu, and at the moment she was about to pull back, he quickly grasped her shoulders, pinning her in place. Although his actions left no room for resistance, the words he spoke were filled with defeat:

"This side of you brings me a deep sense of guilt."

Just how many foolish things had he done to make her this frightened?

"I won’t pressure you anymore." Fu Shinian gently caressed her hair: "You can think whatever you want. If you don’t wish to think about it, then don’t. Follow your feelings, and follow your heart. I have confidence, and I will make you regain your confidence in me, I’m no longer fixated on the answer from you anymore."

Su Mu looked at him, and after seeing the sincerity in his expression and eyes, she smiled slightly.

The banquet started at 6 PM, and when Fu Shinian arrived with Su Mu, it was exactly 6 o’clock. Without exception, their appearance drew everyone’s attention.

Su Mu had attended similar events before; when she used to work at Jun Yue, she occasionally needed to attend such gatherings, but this time it was different. Even though she was naturally beautiful and impressive in appearance, she hadn’t managed to attract so much attention before. She knew the reason was because of the man standing by her side.

This was the first time Fu Shinian had taken her to a public event. To be honest, she felt a bit nervous, especially with so many gazes fixed on her—scrutinizing, questioning, probing, envious, and even some jealous.

She involuntarily tightened her grip on Fu Shinian’s sleeve. Noticing this, Fu Shinian gave a small smile:

"Don’t be nervous, just stay with me."

His words were like a calming pill, allowing Su Mu’s anxious heart to slowly settle. She glanced at him and nodded slightly.

The moment Fu Shinian’s eyes landed on her face, he found it difficult to look away. Tonight, Su Mu hadn’t opted for a loose hair style but had gathered all her hair to one side, braiding it into a herringbone plait. The relaxed and lazy style with wisps of hair by her ears only enhanced her classical beauty.

He had always known that Su Mu was beautiful, but he didn’t realize she could be this breathtaking.

Feeling his gaze, Su Mu felt slightly uncomfortable:

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Have I never told you how beautiful you are?"

Su Mu paused for a moment, then whispered in his ear:

"You fascinate me."

He didn’t say beautiful, he didn’t say pretty, he used no words of praise, only expressing his feeling. Yet, such a statement made her heart flutter more than any compliment could. Su Mu’s face blushed slightly, her heart sweetened to the point of forgetting oneself.
