Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Don’t Want More Rivals in Love

Ji Nanfeng felt these two were really courting annoyance, actually discussing how to climb into Fu Shinian’s bed right in front of Mrs. Fu? Though there had been talk of divorce recently, no matter what, from the beginning until now, the only legitimate Mrs. Fu was Su Mu, and Fu Shinian had never intended to cheat.

Fu Shinian glanced at Ji Nanfeng, who understood instantly:

"I know what to do."

Fu Shinian didn’t say much more, wrapping his arm around Su Mu’s shoulder, and walked toward the door. However, Su Mu stopped in her tracks, reluctant to leave. Fu Shinian looked at her questioningly, and she pouted, speaking with a sense of grievance:

"They haven’t paid me for my clothes yet."

Fu Shinian had never seen Su Mu like this before, his gaze softening as he looked at her, as if he was looking at a child. Seeing this, Ji Nanfeng couldn’t help but comment that Su Mu really knew how to play her cards, as this was the first time in many years he had ever seen Fu Shinian look so foolish.

Ji Nanfeng: "How much?"

"300,000. If they want to see the receipt, I can have our maid bring it over."

Ji Nanfeng twitched his mouth, looking at Lily and Sisi, who were standing there: "Who ruined it?"

"Sisi." Lily spoke up first: "Mrs. Fu’s friends can also testify to that."

Wei Shaoqin: "..." Why should I testify for you? Do I look that idle?

Sisi felt anger at how quickly Lily tried to disassociate with her, but that was the harsh reality, and she had no choice but to accept it. However, asking her to come up with 300,000 right now was practically killing her. She looked at Su Mu, adopting an attitude she had never used before:

"Mrs. Fu, I don’t have that much money."

"You don’t? Aren’t you part of the social scene? Can’t your circle come up with 300,000?"

Sisi gave an awkward laugh but dared not continue the conversation. Su Mu looked at her: "Then it seems I really am not fit for your circle."

In the end, Su Mu gave Sisi a bank account number, stating she could accept payments in installments but would not accept any refusal to compensate out of a belief that she did not need the money. After finishing this, Su Mu turned to Ji Nanfeng:

"I’ll leave the monitoring to Third Master Ji from now on; after all, I wouldn’t want to be unable to find him later."

Ji Nanfeng: "... Don’t worry, he can’t get away."

Su Mu smiled, looking at Fu Shinian: "You guys go ahead, I haven’t finished picking strawberries yet."

Ji Nanfeng: "..."

Fu Shinian laughed: "Still want to pick?"

"Yes, I haven’t had a single one yet."

"Okay, I’ll wait outside for you."

Before leaving, Fu Shinian gave Wei Shaoqin a look filled with deep warning, not because he felt Wei was too close to Su Mu, but because he felt Wei hadn’t protected Su Mu well enough when danger approached, allowing her to be bullied by outsiders.

Wei Shaoqin felt aggrieved. Bullied? Are you sure it was someone else bullying Su Mu?

After Fu Shinian, Ji Nanfeng, and the two women who had plastic surgeries left, Su Mu picked up the down jacket from the ground, lamenting:

"What a pity, I wonder if it can still be worn after patching up the damaged spot?"

Wei Shaoqin: "..."

The two of them picked strawberries for a while longer; suddenly, Su Mu thought of Jiang Bei and asked Wei Shaoqin, "Has Jiang Bei called you?"

"No, what’s up?"

"No worries, I reached out to her this morning, but she hasn’t replied to me yet."

"That’s nothing to worry about," Wei Shaoqin said indifferently, "she seems to be heading to the hospital the day after tomorrow, right? With so much to prepare, she can’t be expected to answer the phone. Relax, she’s smart and skilled, who could possibly bully her?"

Wei Shaoqin’s words eased the unease in Su Mu’s heart. She nodded and didn’t say anything further. Wei Shaoqin had been following behind Su Mu all this while, completely like a little follower. Watching the frail figure in front of him, he suddenly remembered her on the day of her mother’s funeral.

He couldn’t help but speak:

"How have you been these past few days?"

Su Mu picked a large strawberry and placed it in the basket that Wei Shaoqin was holding, then looked up at him and smiled faintly:

"Pretty good."

"I’ve been wanting to call you for the past few days, but Jiang Bei mentioned that your rest hasn’t been great. I was worried that you might be resting if I called, so I didn’t," Wei Shaoqin said with a smile as he looked at her, "You seem to be in quite good spirits today, including your situation with Fu Shinian."

Before Jiang Bei left, he had reminded Wei Shaoqin that Su Mu had officially filed for divorce from Fu Shinian, hoping he could keep an eye on her moods and movements, for after her departure, he would be the only one in Shen City she could talk to.

But judging from today’s situation, it seemed like there was still a long way to go before they would actually divorce. Not to mention whether Fu Shinian would let her go, even Su Mu’s current state didn’t seem overly resolute.

Or perhaps, Fu Shinian’s compromise had moved her.

Wei Shaoqin could tell the difference in Fu Shinian; he remembered clearly how Fu Shinian used to treat him, but today, both the look in his eyes and his attitude towards him had changed.

Of course, this might be him taking care of Su Mu’s feelings, but what’s wrong with that? He’s starting to care about Su Mu’s feelings, and as Su Mu’s friend, that in itself is nothing but a good thing for her.

Su Mu looked at Wei Shaoqin and smiled slightly:

"Xiaobei told you?"

"She did. She’s worried that after she leaves, you won’t even have anyone to talk to, and also concerned about your safety after you move out from the Fu family house, telling me to keep an eye on you."

Wei Shaoqin casually grabbed a strawberry and popped it into his mouth. Su Mu tried to stop him but was too late, only able to watch him helplessly, "It wasn’t washed."

"It’s fine; a bit of dirt won’t kill me."

Since he’d already eaten it, Su Mu didn’t say much, just thinking about what he had just said:

"There’s no need for Xiaobei to worry so much."

"Why not? Do you think you can manage completely on your own, that you don’t need friends like us? Maybe that’s why Jiang Bei, even though he’s gone to Tokyo, is still worried about you," Wei Shaoqin sighed helplessly, "That’s quite an unpopular attitude. Haven’t thought about changing it?"

Su Mu smiled slightly, "I’ll try my best."

On the way back, Su Mu fell silent again, leaning against the car window of the passenger seat as she watched the whole city immersed in the thick atmosphere of the ’New Year’, and when the traffic light turned red, Fu Shinian slowly stopped the car and looked at Su Mu:

"What are you thinking about?"

Su Mu came back to her senses and looked at Fu Shinian, then adjusted her position:

"Thinking about my personality."

"What did Wei Shaoqin say to you?"

"He’s quite right; my personality really isn’t very likable."

Fu Shinian looked at her:

"Why should you change yourself to be more likable? No matter how hard you try to change or conform, you can’t make everyone like you, and besides, I don’t want to have any more rivals."
