Chapter 219: Will Not Like You
Chapter 219: Chapter 219: Will Not Like You
Su Mu stood outside Jiang Bei’s apartment, ready to ring the doorbell, when she suddenly found the door was left ajar. She didn’t pay much attention, thinking that Jiang Bei had intentionally left the door open for her, so she was taken aback for a few seconds upon seeing Rong Shen sitting comfortably on the sofa after she entered.
Rong Shen was also surprised by Su Mu’s appearance, and he nodded faintly,
"Mrs. Fu."
Su Mu was slightly startled, "You know me?"
"The last time you came to Shengyan Club to find Jiang Bei, Mr. Fu had called me, asking me to take good care of you."
Was it really him? Su Mu found it hard to believe. At that time, they had just had a big fight over a photo, and he had declared that she wasn’t allowed to appear before him without his permission. Yet, who could have imagined that beneath his towering rage, he had turned around and called Rong Shen to entrust him with these instructions?
This didn’t seem like something Fu Shinian would do, but Rong Shen had no reason to lie to her. She didn’t dwell on this confusing and meaningless topic any longer. Scanning around the room and not seeing Jiang Bei, Su Mu asked,
"Xiaobei?"
"In the bedroom."
Su Mu walked towards the bedroom; Jiang Bei was changing clothes. When the door opened, she was startled and visibly relaxed when she saw it was Su Mu, prompting Su Mu to speak,
"If you’re worried about Rong Shen suddenly barging in, you should’ve locked the bedroom door. Aren’t you being too careless?"
"I forgot." Jiang Bei spoke nervously, "He was waiting at my door when I came up, refusing to leave no matter what I said. If it weren’t for my urgency to use the restroom, I could have stalled him all night."
Su Mu smiled lightly, watching Jiang Bei finish changing,
"Does he come here every day?"
"No," Jiang Bei frowned, "He doesn’t often come to my place, but it’s true I see him every day."
Rong Shen’s intentions toward Jiang Bei were clear, just as Jiang Bei had said, ’determined to have.’ She was genuinely worried about what might happen if things continued this way. They couldn’t afford to offend someone like Rong Shen, yet they couldn’t just accept his advances either. It was crucial for Jiang Bei to handle this carefully.
Perhaps that was why Jiang Bei had decided to go abroad.
Su Mu and Jiang Bei headed out together, and, seeing this, Rong Shen smiled slightly,
"Mrs. Fu, don’t you think your presence is somewhat unnecessary?"
Jiang Bei stopped in her tracks, looking at Rong Shen with displeasure, "The most unnecessary person in this space is you. When exactly are you leaving? We’re going to sleep."
"Mrs. Fu isn’t going home?"
Su Mu smiled slightly, "I’ve been staying here recently."
After saying this, she walked towards the small bar outside the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water.
Su Mu’s words made Rong Shen frown slightly, though he said nothing. Just as Jiang Bei sat down in front of him and was about to speak, her phone rang. Knowing what it was about without looking, she almost immediately stood up and walked toward the bedroom, pressing the answer button,
"I’ll be there soon."
Su Mu knew from Jiang Bei’s words that an emergency at the hospital required her presence. Unable to help, she just watched Jiang Bei go into the bedroom to change clothes quickly and return,
"You go to sleep first, don’t wait for me. If it gets too late, I’ll just stay at the hospital since I have the early shift tomorrow anyway."
Su Mu nodded, "Don’t worry about me, be careful on the road."
Rong Shen stood up from the sofa and walked toward Jiang Bei,
"I’ll take you."
Jiang Bei glanced at him, "There’s no need for that, but it’s very necessary for you to leave with me."
Rong Shen chuckled softly, ultimately saying nothing more.
As the snow continued to fall outside, Su Mu stood by the window watching Jiang Bei and Rong Shen speak indistinctly downstairs; a few seconds later, Jiang Bei reluctantly got into Rong Shen’s car and left.
With the roads slippery from the snow, Rong Shen drove steadily. Jiang Bei, sitting in the passenger seat, kept glancing at her watch. Rong Shen, noticing her actions, spoke softly,
"No matter how urgent, you have to ensure your own safety before you can save others."
Jiang Bei glanced at him, "You don’t need to lecture me."
Rong Shen chuckled,
"Sure, you know everything, but why don’t you understand that I must have you?"
His words made Jiang Bei pause. She didn’t look at Rong Shen but stared ahead at the road covered in snow. After a few seconds, she slowly began,
"Don’t waste your time on me, there’s no possibility between us."
"Are you married?"
"No."
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No."
"I’m not married, nor do I have a girlfriend, we’re both single. Why is it impossible?" Rong Shen looked at Jiang Bei, "How will you know whether we’re suitable if you don’t give it a try?"
"Because I’m certain that my future partner isn’t someone like you."
"Just like how I’m certain you’re the one for me?" Rong Shen’s tone remained calm, yet his words allowed no rebuttal, "Is it because my status pressures you, or are you worried I’m just playing around with you?"
Jiang Bei chuckled,
"Neither. I simply don’t like you, and I never will."
Their journey had almost reached the hospital near Jiang Bei’s apartment. As she finished speaking, they had nearly arrived at the hospital entrance. The car came to a slow stop, and Jiang Bei unbuckled her seatbelt to get out when Rong Shen suddenly clamped down on her arm. As she turned to look at him, he leaned in suddenly and kissed her.
Perhaps considering that Jiang Bei still had patients to attend to at the hospital, Rong Shen’s kiss didn’t last long, but that didn’t diminish its intensity. He didn’t give Jiang Bei a chance to react, instead prying her chin open and conquering relentlessly.
By the time she realized she wanted to resist, Rong Shen had already withdrawn completely, watching her as she became infuriated, wanting to strike him. He easily restrained her, pulling her forcefully into his embrace,
"Jiang Bei, my patience is perhaps running low. Whether I have your person sooner or later, or your heart first, makes no difference to me. Do you understand what I mean?"
"You dare!"
"There’s nothing I wouldn’t dare." He let her go, "The deadline I gave you is before the end of the year. If you haven’t agreed by then, I will just have to take you!"
Jiang Bei looked at Rong Shen. His face bore not a trace of jest, and so she believed he was serious about his intentions. She wanted to retort, to compete with him physically, but she didn’t have the time then. Patients were waiting for her in the emergency room.
Taking her eyes off Rong Shen’s face, Jiang Bei wiped her mouth furiously with the back of her hand, opened the car door, and stepped out. Before slamming the door, her voice, mixed with the cold wind, reached Rong Shen’s ears,
"You won’t have that chance!"
