Chapter 214: Chapter 214 You Disgust Me So Much I’m Going Crazy
When Su Mu entered the elevator, she noticed that Song Yi wasn’t following. She raised her hand to stop the closing elevator doors and looked at Song Yi, who was standing still:
"Aren’t you coming up?"
"No, thanks. It might be inconvenient if I follow. I’ll wait here; if you need anything, just call me, and I’ll come up right away."
Su Mu found Song Yi’s behavior strange today. He said he came to keep her company, yet he didn’t accompany her upstairs. So, what meaning did this ’company’ really hold? Although puzzled, Su Mu didn’t say anything and indifferently withdrew her gaze, pressing the close button.
From the first floor to the 18th floor where Qin Nianwan lived, Su Mu counted the seconds in her mind. When the number reached 24, the elevator doors slowly opened in front of her. Su Mu glanced at the floor indicator on the display screen, then stepped out.
After ringing the doorbell, there was a long stretch of time during which Qin Nianwan did not come to open the door. Su Mu was surprised at her own patience; she could wait without irritation or impatience. She didn’t know if Qin Nianwan hadn’t heard her earlier or if it was because Qin Nianwan had seen that she hadn’t left and decided to open the door almost 20 minutes later.
Qin Nianwan, looking at Su Mu standing outside her door, showed no surprise. It seemed that during those 20 minutes, she had been struggling with whether or not to open the door.
"What are you here for?"
Su Mu’s lips curved slightly, "Naturally, I’m here to see you."
"I don’t think there’s anything for us to talk about."
"Is that so? But I feel like we have endless topics to discuss." Su Mu glanced back down the hallway, "Are you sure you won’t invite me in? I’m afraid the topics we’ll be discussing may infuriate you and alert the neighbors, tarnishing your pure and innocent image."
Qin Nianwan hesitated for a few seconds but eventually stepped aside to let Su Mu in.
With a faint smile, Su Mu stepped inside. Qin Nianwan reached out to close the door. When she turned around, she was greeted with a resounding slap. She looked incredulously at Su Mu, who was still smiling at her:
"Are you insane?!"
Su Mu casually tossed her bag aside and nodded her head:
"Yes, I admit I’m going insane. I’m disgusted to madness by your vile and despicable tactics!"
Qin Nianwan of course knew what Su Mu was referring to, but she didn’t need to admit it. She scoffed coldly, walked away from the door towards the kitchen bar, poured herself a glass of ice water, and downed it in one go before she could suppress her anger and respond to Su Mu:
"I have no idea what you’re talking about. If you’re here to vent your frustrations, you’ve come to the wrong place."
"Is that so?" Su Mu looked at her coolly, "Then who should I find? Chen Huifang? Sadly, I just came back from meeting her in Portugal. I didn’t even go home but came straight here. You couldn’t possibly think I came to see you for a photo and an autograph, could you?"
When Chen Huifang’s name was mentioned, Qin Nianwan’s hand clearly twitched as she reached for the cup, but as an actress, it took her less than a second to compose herself.
"I don’t know her."
"You can say you don’t know Chen Huifang since there’s no apparent connection on the surface. But what about Han Jie? Will you also claim you don’t know him?"
No sooner had Su Mu finished speaking than the glass in Qin Nianwan’s hand dropped, its shattering sound piercing the silence of the room. This time, her acting skills offered no help. She stared at Su Mu, utterly shocked:
"How could you possibly..."
"Why would I know about Han Jie?" Su Mu chuckled lightly, turned, and sat down on the living room sofa, "Perhaps because I was unlucky and happened to encounter you and Han Jie visiting the gynecology department at the hospital. Actually, when we first met months ago, I wanted to ask if you had decided to keep the child. If you chose to have it, I assume by now, it would be calling you ’mom,’ right?"
Qin Nianwan was so stunned she couldn’t utter a complete syllable. She could only grip her fists tightly to maintain some semblance of composure. That secret she thought would never be known to a fourth person, one she believed nobody else would discover, was known to the woman she hated the most, and had been for two years—a betrayal and disgrace she had hoped to conceal.
No wonder Su Mu never took her seriously. No wonder, even when Qin Nianwan returned to Fu Shinian’s side, Su Mu felt nothing because in her eyes and heart, Qin Nianwan was incomparable to her. Su Mu had never considered her a rival or even granted her the status of a love enemy.
She watched like one would watch a clown, seeing Qin Nianwan appear by Fu Shinian’s side, betraying no emotion, yet inside harboring the coldest of sneers.
Qin Nianwan approached and sat down in front of Su Mu:
"What exactly do you want to do?"
Observing Qin Nianwan’s posture, Su Mu smiled faintly:
"Considering you orchestrated the event of me sleeping with Wen Han, what could you possibly fear now? What is there to be afraid of? Are you scared that I will tell Fu Shinian about all this? That you’ll no longer be able to sell those old feelings in front of him? I truly admire your mental strength; even after all the shameful acts you’ve committed, you can still wear a mask of innocence and smile beautifully before an old lover."
"Did you come here today to stand up for Fu Shinian?"
"No," Su Mu denied, "He dislikes others meddling in his private affairs, especially matters like—taking revenge. If you can’t take revenge personally, what’s the thrill in it? I came here today mainly for my own reasons. I want to hear you apologize to me."
Qin Nianwan laughed softly:
"I won’t apologize. You can forget about it. You never apologized to me for what Wei Shaoqin did to me back then. Now I’m merely returning the favor. What right do you have to be indignant?"
Su Mu gazed at Qin Nianwan, her brows knitting slightly. She didn’t understand why Wei Shaoqin was involved in this matter.
"Su Mu, I knew two years ago that there was no future for me and Fu Shinian. I could accept anyone becoming Mrs. Fu, standing by Fu Shinian’s side, but I couldn’t bear you being there. Do you know why?"
"I have no interest in your vile and twisted psyche."
"Me, twisted?" Qin Nianwan laughed desolately, "What about you? You coerced a man who didn’t love you into marrying you with a kidney. Haven’t you also become obsessed with Fu Shinian to the point of insanity? You forced Fu Shinian to break up with me overnight, and you effortlessly became Mrs. Fu. Do you have any idea how much I’ve been through in Country H because of you?"
