Chapter 174: No One Can Ignore My Existence
Chapter 174: Chapter 174: No One Can Ignore My Existence
Su Mu still remembered that at Wen Shaoyuan’s birthday party, Zhou Yaxian and Wen Songyan both promised to free up as much time as possible in the future to be with their child. Surely, after Wen Shaoyuan’s last runaway incident, they would take the issue of spending time with their child seriously.
Upon hearing this, Su Mu patted Wen Shaoyuan’s hair:
"That’s very good, more people to accompany you in the future."
"If Grandma is often at home, will Sister Su come to be with me every day too?"
Su Mu nodded, "As long as you still need me, I’ll certainly come over."
"I do need you, I need you every day." Wen Shaoyuan looked at Su Mu earnestly, as if making a vow, "But I’ve noticed that Grandma has been getting more calls these past two days. However, I can tell she’s been turning down work for me. Since Sister Su is back today, I’ll tell Grandma to go to work tomorrow."
Su Mu smiled faintly:
"Okay."
At 8:30, Su Mu helped Wen Shaoyuan go to sleep, then went downstairs to say goodbye to Zhou Yaxian and prepared to leave. Zhou Yaxian walked her to the door:
"The driver is already waiting for you outside. Be careful on the road."
"Okay."
As the car was leaving the compound, Su Mu casually glanced outside. After a few seconds of hesitation, she asked the driver to stop the car. She opened the door and got out, walking towards the man who was leaning against the door, smoking:
"Why have you come?"
Fu Shinian stared at her coolly, "To take you home."
Su Mu’s heart felt an indescribable sensation, it should be sweet, yet it was bitterly so.
"Standing here without a sound - what if I hadn’t seen you?"
"No one can overlook my presence." Fu Shinian looked at her and smiled slightly, "Especially not you."
This domineering, confident, utterly unreasonable man was the Fu Shinian she knew, yet something about him seemed different. But Su Mu was sure, she liked this change in Fu Shinian.
Perhaps due to a backlog of work, Su Mu noticed that Fu Shinian’s car was filled with stacks of files and an open laptop. From what she could infer, he had probably been working right up until he got out of the car.
Fu Shinian closed the laptop but hardly managed to exchange a few words with Su Mu before his phone rang again. After hanging up, he started dealing with emails, seemingly unable to stop. Su Mu watched for a while before turning her gaze out the window. The interior of the car was too warm, and outside was too cold, the windows were covered in a layer of mist, prompting Su Mu to stretch out her hand and began doodling on it.
It was only when Fu Shinian spoke up, "You love writing my name?"
Su Mu snapped back to reality, realizing that she had unconsciously written his name again. She didn’t respond. Remembering the last experience, she was about to wipe the name off when he suddenly caught her hand, stopping her movements, and smiled slightly:
"Don’t worry, this time no one will trample it, and no car will run it over."
Another call came in. Fu Shinian glanced at the screen and tightened his grip on Su Mu’s hand:
"A bit busy."
"You go ahead, don’t mind me."
Fu Shinian smiled faintly and pressed the answer button.
He was indeed very busy, with two mergers, one venture capital investment, and two IPO cases all requiring his personal attention. Still, despite his busy schedule, he decided to return home by 7:30 pm, continuously dealing with work even while on the road. He wasn’t exactly sure what this meant; he simply did it because he felt like doing it.
The two of them returned home and went to greet the old lady in her room. The old lady was very happy to see them back together, although they had hardly exchanged a few words when Fu Shinian’s phone rang again. Su Mu gave him a look:
"You go ahead with your work."
Fu Shinian stood up, said goodbye to grandma, and went straight to the study. The old lady watched Fu Shinian’s retreating figure and couldn’t help but sigh:
"All he knows is work. He probably hasn’t even had dinner. Ask Auntie Wang to make something for him later."
Su Mu acknowledged. Remembering how he had been dealing with business in the car when he picked her up, he probably hadn’t had dinner. As she left the old lady’s room, she thought it over and still went to the kitchen; she didn’t do anything too complicated but made a bowl of soup noodles with the ingredients available.
Standing at the study door, Su Mu knocked gently. After hearing Fu Shinian’s voice inside, she pushed the door open. He was in a video conference. Seeing her with a bowl of noodles, he paused for a moment, then turned off the microphone:
"Did you make this?"
Stationed behind the computer, Su Mu placed the noodles on an empty space on the desk.
"Take a break to eat, so you don’t get a stomach ache."
After she spoke, she left without lingering. Fu Shinian wanted to call out to stop her but had no grounds to do so, considering he was also too busy to have a conversation with her.
Su Mu barely opened her eyes when she felt the mattress sink beside her. It was almost two in the morning. She was extremely sleepy and confused; Fu Shinian’s touch barely registered in her drowsy state until he touched the thick object from last night:
"Isn’t it over yet?"
Su Mu swatted his hand away, sleepily responding, "It’s only the second day."
After speaking, she fell back asleep. She seemed to never have slept so soundly before. Previously, regardless of her activities, she would immediately awaken even from sleep. It seemed that these days of caring for grandma really exhausted her. Fu Shinian, originally planning to ask for her help, softened his approach, turned off the bedside lamp, and closed his eyes.
For several days, Fu Shinian was so busy he was hardly seen. Every day by the time Su Mu woke up, he had already gone to the office, and he was still not back by the time she went to sleep. If not for seeing his changed clothes in the laundry basket each day, Su Mu might even suspect that he hadn’t come back at all.
Four days later, Fu Shinian rarely came home early. Su Mu, just stepping out of the bathroom, was startled to see him entering the door, as she was unprepared for his early return. Fu Shinian saw her reaction and smiled slightly:
"Did I startle you?"
"Not really, I just didn’t expect you to come back so early today."
"Hmm." Fu Shinian lightly responded, "I’m leaving on a business trip tomorrow."
To be honest, Su Mu wasn’t surprised. Given how intense his work had been, she had anticipated that he would be away on a trip soon, a pattern unchanged over the past two years. Upon hearing this, she merely nodded.
"Where are you going? I’ll help you pack."
"No need." He stopped Su Mu as she was about to enter the walk-in closet, "There’s nothing much to take. Whatever I lack I can buy there."
Su Mu looked at him for a few seconds and nodded, remembering his habit of traveling light on business trips over the past two years:
"Then go take a shower, get some rest early today."
No sooner had Su Mu finished speaking than she was pinned against the wall behind her, trapped between the wall and his chest. The air around Su Mu seemed to thin, he leaned slightly, and nibbled her ear:
"Is it over?"
