Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Walk the Night Road Enough, and You’ll Meet a Ghost

Qiao Yu and Fu Shinian had already walked past when they heard this statement, and they both stopped simultaneously, exchanged glances, and confirmed through their eyes that they both thought of the same person. Qiao Yu chuckled lightly and stepped back to the reception desk:

"What were you just talking about?"

"Qiao... Doctor Qiao."

Qiao Yu smiled warmly, "Don’t worry, I won’t hold what you just said against you, but I’d like to know, was the patient you mentioned indeed my friend?"

The nurse who had been to the emergency department nodded slightly:

"I only saw him briefly, but I’m sure it was correct. After all, I have a memorable skill for those who are handsome, and it seemed to be Mr. Ji."

Qiao Yu thanked her and returned to Fu Shinian’s side:

"Want to see the joke?"

Fu Shinian raised an eyebrow lightly:

"You and I are not the same, you go to watch the joke, I’m just visiting a patient."

Qiao Yu: "..."

What on earth was he thinking? He had thought that Fu Shinian, who was upset with Su Mu, looked pitiable?

Emergency department.

Ji Nanfeng had never experienced such a humiliating yet frightening moment; he almost felt as if his lifetime’s happiness was going to be thrown away on this day. The pain was almost driving him insane.

His first thought was to call Qiao Yu, but Qiao Yu was in surgery and couldn’t deal with him then, nor did he dare call his family doctor since that would definitely be reported to Grandfather Ji. Rather than going home to be punished, Ji Nanfeng preferred embarrassingly to call an ambulance, fearing any delay might cause serious issues, so he hastily made the emergency call.

When Jiang Bei entered, she immediately pulled the partition curtain close. Ji Nanfeng instinctively looked up at the newcomer, somewhat surprised by the female doctor. He initially wanted to ask her to leave and send a male in, but he changed his mind upon seeing those big eyes over her mask.

Ji Nanfeng felt a strange fondness for the doctor with the mask and charming big eyes, his pain even seemed slightly alleviated.

Jiang Bei just glanced at Ji Nanfeng when she first came in, her expression unruffled and even a bit amused, she lightly asked:

"How long has it been?"

Ji Nanfeng looked at Jiang Bei:

"Beautiful doctor, don’t you feel a bit shy staring like this, as a woman?"

"I’m working. You are my patient, and doctors don’t differentiate by gender. But if it bothers you, I can go find a male doctor to treat you."

"No need, no need, I was just worried you might feel embarrassed. I’m fine with it."

Jiang Bei ignored his comment, put down his robe, and looked at him again as she reiterated:

"How long have you been in this abnormal condition?"

Ji Nanfeng initially wanted to pretend a bit longer, but the escalating pain forced him to confess:

"Almost 12 hours now. Had some unclean stuff at a friend’s party last night."

"12 hours?" Jiang Bei raised her eyebrows slightly: "You’re quite tolerant."

"Can you treat me now?"

But Jiang Bei did not seem inclined to prescribe him the medication right away, casually commenting:

"You were quite composed earlier, able to chat about useless things. Just wait, I’ll have someone come give you an injection."

As Jiang Bei was preparing to leave, someone suddenly pulled aside the curtain from outside, and the next moment she saw Qiao Yu. While greeting him, she also caught sight of Fu Shinian’s face, and Jiang Bei grew cold, scoffing:

"Mr. Fu, to what do we owe this grand visit to our emergency department? Aren’t you feeling well? However, our humble emergency department might not be able to accommodate illnesses that Mr. Fu Shinian has; you should probably go to a specialist psychiatric hospital, where they could offer Mr. Fu Shinian the best assistance."

Fu Shinian looked at Jiang Bei, remaining silent.

Only at the sight of Jiang Bei did Qiao Yu recall that she and Fu Shinian had been at odds, especially with recent issues relating to Su Mu, he really feared she would smash up the entire emergency department just to spite Fu Shinian, so he had to intervene:

"Doctor Jiang, take it easy, we’re just here to visit a patient, no other intentions, we’ll leave soon."

"Patient?" Jiang Bei scoffed lightly: "Which patient could possibly be related to Mr. Fu? Tell me, so I can take special care of him."

Even Ji Nanfeng could detect Jiang Bei’s hostility toward Fu Shinian. His intent to scold Qiao Yu and Fu Shinian was forcibly suppressed as he stayed silent, fearing any revelation of his deep relationship with them might prompt Jiang Bei to sabotage him.

Fu Shinian had remained silent as if Jiang Bei’s words were of no consequence to him.

Seeing that Fu Shinian was not taking things personally, Qiao Yu felt somewhat relieved and looked over at Ji Nanfeng, lifting his robe to take a look, and couldn’t help but frown. Ji Nanfeng was too late to cover up, and despite the fact that the three of them could shower together, he would rather they were blind in such humiliating moments.

Qiao Yu asked:

"Taken any medicine?"

"No." Ji Nanfeng’s tone was particularly impatient: "Just some unclean stuff I was made to drink."

Fu Shinian chuckled lightly: "Qiao Yu, what were we saying earlier?"

Qiao Yu responded, "Walk down a dark path often enough, and you’re bound to encounter a ghost eventually."

Ji Nanfeng couldn’t bear it:

"Do you two have no conscience? I’m in this state, and you specifically came to mock me?"

Fu Shinian nodded:

"Otherwise, what did you think we came for?"

Qiao Yu stroked his chin: "What do you say, should we record his current condition to give to his wife as a wedding gift when he gets married? I think it would make an unforgettable wedding present."

"I think so."

Jiang Bei watched the three of them teasing each other. Although she felt it wasn’t appropriate from a doctor’s standpoint, since this person was Fu Shinian’s friend and seemed to have a good relationship with him, he probably wasn’t much of a good person either. So, she just stood by lazily, not intervening.
