Chapter 125: Chapter 125: You’re the One Who’s Sick

Su Mu fell silent, while Qiao Yu laughed:

"Based on my understanding of him, he must be feeling very frustrated, but because of Grandmother he has to choose to endure. Su Mu, I believe in your feelings for Shinian, but that’s because I’m a bystander. As the person involved, Fu Shinian could only be passive during the most important marital phase of his life. I think it’s inevitable that he has his own emotions, which led to the distrust of you. I don’t think it’s so hard to understand. If you hadn’t traded for the marriage in the beginning, maybe things wouldn’t have turned out this way."

"Even if it was a trade, even if it was my fault, I spent two years trying to prove myself, and it seems to be in vain."

"So, you want to give up?"

Su Mu’s silence this time lasted a very long time, so long that Qiao Yu thought he wouldn’t receive an answer, but in the end, she spoke. Yet her response was almost as good as none, because she said:

"I don’t know."

The Fu Shinian she loved was the only thing she persisted in throughout her youth. In her eyes, he would always be the man who, like a god, pulled her back from the brink of death. Without him, there would be no her, as she was now.

But now she didn’t understand why the god she loved had become what he was now.

She was disappointed in Fu Shinian.

This was Qiao Yu’s most straightforward feeling about Su Mu.

Fortunately, he thought to himself, it wasn’t despair; Fu Shinian could still be saved.

"Does it have to be this way?" Qiao Yu was somewhat helpless, "You now seem very different from the Su Mu I knew before. She would have never taken such a drastic approach toward Fu Shinian. Of course, I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with your method. Anyone will resist appropriately when compromised and suppressed for too long, but as a doctor, I really can’t support the behavior of harming your own health."

There was a moment of silence in the room. Qiao Yu knew he couldn’t persuade Su Mu to start eating. These two were quite similar in some respects, both stubborn, never looking back once they’d made up their minds.

As Qiao Yu was about to say something else, Su Mu interrupted him, saying:

"Qiao Yu, you don’t have to worry about me, I actually don’t want to die. Using starvation is merely my way of wanting to see him. He can continue to keep me imprisoned, but I want to see if he, with his insistence on wanting a child, could really let go and allow me to give birth under these circumstances?"

Qiao Yu frowned slightly; after a moment, however, he understood, yet was somewhat in disbelief, "Are you saying that Fu Shinian is imprisoning you just to make you pregnant?"

"I don’t want a child for the time being." Su Mu was indifferent: "Communicating with him was futile, and the situation I’m in now is the outcome."

Qiao Yu felt speechless, and even had an impulse not to admit that Fu Shinian was his friend. How could such a smart man make such a stupid move? If the Su Mu he was facing now wasn’t the one he had always known, then that Fu Shinian also wasn’t the one he had grown up with.

What on earth was he thinking? How could he come up with such methods?

"It’s incredible to you too, isn’t it?"

Qiao Yu chuckled lightly, "There must be something going on between you two that I don’t know about."

Otherwise, things wouldn’t be like this.

"Qiao Yu, I admit what you said, there is a difference from before. I can even feel it myself. The old me would definitely have agreed with whatever Fu Shinian wanted. As long as it made him happy, as long as he liked it, I would have done it. And now, I’m just not that obedient anymore; I’ve learned to think for myself. When I wanted a child, he made me take medicine without considering my wishes. Now that he wants one, must I just give birth? I don’t even know if he truly wants this child or if he just wants to fulfill Grandmother’s expectation for a great-grandchild."

This was a question Qiao Yu could not answer. After all, every time he asked Fu Shinian, it was always ’Grandmother wants it.’ Maybe he wanted it too, but from what Qiao Yu knew about Fu Shinian, he probably wouldn’t have considered this matter too soon if it hadn’t been for Grandmother repeatedly mentioning it.

Su Mu smiled faintly:

"Actually, I haven’t changed. Perhaps this is the real me. Hiding the true self carefully by Fu Shinian’s side was only a way to exchange for a glance from him. But he taught me a lesson over two years, that I can sink to the dust for the love of him, yet he may not even notice me in the dust."

"You can go now. You can’t solve the issues between us."

After leaving the master bedroom, Qiao Yu walked slowly, thinking about the words Su Mu had just said, until Auntie Lin came hurriedly, and he saw the dinner plate in her hands and gave a light smile:

"Take it back, she won’t eat."

"Ah?" Auntie Lin never expected such a result; she thought that with Qiao Yu’s persuasion, Su Mu would at least listen, "What should we do then? If this continues, Mrs. Fu won’t be able to take it. It’s only been two days, and she has visibly lost a lot of weight."

Qiao Yu smiled:

"That’s a mess Mr. Fu made himself. If he doesn’t care for his own wife, can he expect others to feel for him? Even if Su Mu really harms herself with starvation, he would still be the main culprit."

After saying this, he paid no more attention to Auntie Lin and went downstairs. Auntie Lin glanced at Qiao Yu and then toward the master bedroom, eventually deciding to try anyway. What if Mrs. Fu suddenly had a change of heart?

On the way home, Qiao Yu received a call from the hospital and had to make a trip there. By the time he returned home it was nearly 11 o’clock, yet unexpectedly, he still bumped into an acquaintance in front of his house. From a distance, he saw the person leaning against the car, smoking, and Qiao Yu slowly reduced his speed before stopping behind his car. He didn’t get out immediately but sat quietly in the car, watching through the window for quite some time.

Not until the man finished smoking and looked over did Qiao Yu sigh and open the door to get out:

"What brings Mr. Fu to my place today? Are you feeling physically unwell or is it psychological discomfort?"

Fu Shinian looked at him coolly:

"Took the wrong medicine?"

Qiao Yu huffed lightly, "I am a doctor, I would know if there’s any issue with my own body at the earliest. As far as my experience tells me, I currently have no problems and don’t need any medication. But you..."

Qiao Yu scanned Fu Shinian from top to bottom:

"I feel that you are seriously ill, to the point where you should see a specialist in psychiatry. Whether you can be cured, however, is another issue."
