Chapter 153 Turnaround 1_1

Chapter 153: Chapter 153 Turnaround 1_1

She watched him warily, weakly asking, "Who are you?"

"It isn’t important who I am, what’s important is, who are you?" The man spoke some words that were incomprehensible, making Su Wanxia even more confused.

"Forget it, you wouldn’t understand even if I told you now. I only hope that you’re the person we are looking for. Otherwise, your life will no longer be your own."

"I don’t understand what you’re talking about?" Aren’t they the ones who have brought her here? What did his words really mean?

The man sighed helplessly and then took something out of his pocket.

Su Wanxia focused on his movements and immediately tensed up.

In his hand was a black handgun!

What did he want to do?

The man, seeing her tense expression, suddenly crouched down and then stuffed the gun into the right pocket of her down jacket.

She was puzzled, not understanding what he meant. What did he want to do? What was his purpose?

"When necessary, it can save your life!" The man said with a somewhat solemn expression.

"Don’t tell anyone, I will find a way to protect you for the time being."

Su Wanxia now had too many questions. She clearly did not know the man in front of her, so why would he want to help her?

And those strange things he said, what did they actually mean?

Just as she was about to ask more questions, the heavy door creaked open from the outside.

She closed her eyes again at once.

"The medicine is here, hurry up and make her take it."

"Yeah, I got it." The man said as he took the medicine in his hand, then continued, "Go outside and pour a glass of water."

"Damn troublesome." The person who got the medicine cursed before heading out.

It didn’t take long for him to come back.

"Yanzi, hurry up and wake her, it’ll be easier for us to report back once she’s taken the medicine," The man said, handing a cup of water to Yu Yan who was crouching next to Su Wanxia.

Yu Yan took the cup, "Yeah, but since she’s always unconscious, I can’t feed her. Why don’t you do it?" he said, looking distressed as he handed the water back to the man.

On hearing this, the man chuckled, "I’ve still got something to do. Find a way to wake her up. I’ll treat you to a drink later, I’m out." Saying this, he shuffled towards the door.

"But—"

"No buts. Just wake her up with a slap or a kick. Buddy, I’m heading off," he said, leaving with the sound of a door slamming shut.

"Get up and take your medicine." As soon as the man left, Yu Yan immediately offered the medicine to Su Wanxia.

Su Wanxia opened her eyes and struggled to rise from the ground, but with her hands and feet shackled and devoid of any strength, she couldn’t stand up straight.

Seeing her struggle, Yu Yan reached out to help her off the floor. She sat on the cold ground, looking at him with a puzzled expression.

"The people here are cruel; you need to be careful," he said, handing her both the water and the medicine.

She hesitated for a moment before accepting them and swallowing all the medicine.

After all, she thought, first heal and then think about what to do next; otherwise, as she was now, she would just be at others’ mercy.

After Yu Yan saw she had taken all the medicine, he stood up to leave. Su Wanxia suddenly called out to him, "Why are you helping me?"

They were neither relatives nor friends and had never met, so why would he take such a risk to help her?

"Because—I have my mission," Yu Yan didn’t turn around, just dropping that phrase behind him before pushing the door open and walking out.

Clang---- The heavy door was shut again, leaving her the only person left in the spacious room.

Helplessly, she buried her head in her folded knees, her shoulders shaking slightly against her will.

Mu Yingchen followed the direction indicated by the surveillance and kept heading east, but the further he walked, the more remote the place became. There were also some small side roads along the way, and after considering his options, he still followed the main road.

For some reason, his intuition told him that he was on the right path if he just kept going.

After walking for a while longer, the main road turned into a rough dirt path leading into the depths of the mountains and forests.

However, he noticed many tire tracks on the ground, which made his heart skip a beat. Could this mean he was indeed on the right track?

The uneven mountain road forced him to slow down, but at that moment, he wished he could immediately reach the end of the road and find his Wanwan as quickly as possible.

Su Wanxia was thinking of ways to escape when she vaguely heard voices from outside the door.

"Why hasn’t that girl woken up yet? If she doesn’t wake soon, splash her with water!" Su Wanxia’s heart trembled uncontrollably upon hearing that voice.

If she heard correctly, that voice belonged to their so-called boss. Why had he returned so soon?

"Yes, yes, boss, I will go in and check and then bring her to your room," replied a voice.

"Be quick about it. I don’t care whether she’s awake or not, just carry her to my room straight away!" the boss demanded.

"Yes, yes."

Su Wanxia felt a chill through her heart—pretending to be unconscious was no longer an option.

What should she do? What should she do?

As she was at a loss, the door opened once more.

"Yo, it’s really worth all the effort fetching you medicine and water—you’re finally awake."

That’s when Su Wanxia truly understood what was meant by "shifty-eyed."

One glance at this man, and she knew he was no good!

Yu Yan and several other men with particularly sleazy appearances followed him into the room.

It turned out her first impression was right; at the sight of Yu Yan, she had thought all the people here would be like him, using their looks to deceive.

To her surprise, Yu Yan was just an exception. The appearances of the others truly matched their shady characters.

"Now that you’re awake, get up and come with us," one of the beady-eyed men said, eying her with lewd interest.

"Yeah, let’s go!" echoed the others encouragingly.

Su Wanxia eyed them warily. How could she not understand what their idea of ’going’ meant? They were planning to hand her over to the so-called boss.

"Don’t come any closer, what are you going to do?" she said, stepping back as they approached.

"What are we going to do? You’ll find out once you get there," one of the men said, grabbing her arm.

"If you’re smart, you’ll come quietly with us. Otherwise, we’ll break your legs!" another man threatened fiercely.

Even though the medicine had restored some of her strength, how could she possibly resist all these men?

She struggled forcefully a couple of times but was still led out the door by them.

Once outside, they were in a dark, narrow corridor. This place seemed to be a basement, otherwise, the lighting couldn’t be so dim.

She was dragged up two flights of stairs, and the moment the door opened, a sudden burst of daylight forced her to squint her eyes.

Indeed, they had locked her in a basement, and not just any basement but one two floors underground. No wonder it was so dark, damp, and eerily cold.

Who exactly were they? To brazenly engage in such illegal acts!
