Chapter 145: Chapter 145 I will let you go_1
For Jesse, she really felt guilty---
After a moment of silence, Jesse sighed softly, looked up at Su Wanxia and said, "Since this is your decision, I will let you go."
When he received her message about coming back, he was thrilled, ecstatic, he thought she had finally given up on the ’him’ in her heart and was ready to start a new life.
But the moment he saw Mu Chuyang, he instantly realized, she wasn’t giving up on the ’him’ in her heart, but giving up everything in England, including him.
It turns out in her heart, he couldn’t compare with that person--
The more he thought about it, the more bitter his heart became. After all this time, when he finally wanted to really like someone, that person just didn’t like him back, no matter what he did, he couldn’t enter her heart.
Now that she’d finally gotten together with the person she liked, all he could do was let go and wish her happiness, blaming only himself for not meeting her sooner than that person had.
"Jesse, I’m sorry. I really appreciate all the care you’ve given me over the years." Jesse has been the person to help her the most, and she was grateful.
But now she had no choice but to leave this place and return to her own country, to her parents, and to---his side.
"Summer, don’t say these things to me. No matter where you are, we are--good friends." That’s right, now he could only be friends with her.
"Mhm." Su Wanxia smiled and nodded, saying this out loud lifted a weight off her heart.
"Then I’ll go to the company tomorrow to sort out the work files."
"Alright." Jesse didn’t know how he managed to utter that ’alright’, but as long as it was her speaking, he would not object.
From the next day on, Su Wanxia hadn’t had a moment of rest.
She first handed in her resignation, which surprised everyone at the company, unable to understand why she would quit during a time when her career was on the rise.
She definitely wouldn’t tell others too much about her reasons, simply stating she was going to develop her career back in China.
After she had handed over all her work, three days had passed.
During her absence, many people had sought her out for designs; those who couldn’t wait had to find other designers in the company, and those who could, held off on decorating until now.
Fortunately, the projects were all small, generally medium-sized family homes, so she managed to take care of these clients before her departure.
She had been so busy that she’d practically cast Mu Chuyang aside, but that guy couldn’t stay idle. He’d been wandering around every day on his own, yet when she got home from work, she would always find him already home, fast asleep. Hence, she never had the chance to ask where he’d been playing around these days, what he’d gotten up to.
When she got busy, she always forgot to call Mu Yingchen, and many times when he called, she was too busy to answer. Sometimes she didn’t even know if the phone had rung because all her attention and energy were focused on work.
Because only by doing so could she finish things faster, could she return to his side sooner.
In the blink of an eye, thirteen days had gone by, and Mu Chuyang had already roamed all over London; in his words, he could go out blind and still not lose his way.
But whenever he had nothing to do, he would urge Su Wanxia on, asking her every time she got home from work: "Is it done yet?" He would greet her with "Is it done? Is it done?"
Su Wanxia really wanted to stuff his mouth with a rag; impatience is the last thing wanted in the design industry.
When one is anxious, the designs easily lose their original visual impact, they feel as if they lack something, look awkward, and even she wouldn’t be pleased to look at them, let alone others.
Determined, Su Wanxia tossed her last design entirely into the recycle bin, which meant several more days lost.
When she’d been away for half a month, Mu Yingchen would call her every day asking when she would return. She was anxious too, but things at work needed to be approached slowly, otherwise, it would backfire.
She stared at the computer screen, carefully inspecting it for a good while, then moved the mouse to tweak the design a bit more before finally hitting "render"---
Looking at the gradually rendered graphic, she breathed a sigh of relief, having finally finished it.
"Summer, you’ve worked hard!" Jesse suddenly brought over a cup of coffee and placed it in front of her.
She looked up and smiled at him, "Thank you."
Jesse, seeing her relaxed expression and the rendering on the computer screen, asked, "All set then?"
"Yes, it is," she said softly as she picked up the coffee.
"Summer, honestly, I don’t want you to leave," Jesse sat across from her, his voice crisp.
Su Wanxia looked up at him.
"But I know you really like him, so for your happiness, I’m willing to let go."
"Jesse, there are actually a lot of people around you worth liking, worth loving."
"I know, but finding a girlfriend is a matter of feeling, and if the feeling isn’t right, worthiness becomes secondary."
"Summer, if he ever treats you badly in the future, you must tell me, I’d go to China just to give him a beating."
"Haha, okay," Su Wanxia laughed, amused by Jesse’s words.
"So when are you—" Jesse cut himself off mid-sentence.
A sense of guilt resurfaced in Su Wanxia’s heart, "I think I’ll go back tomorrow."
A flash of disappointment crossed Jesse’s ice-blue eyes; his lips curled slightly, "Okay, then I’ll see you off tomorrow."
"Okay—" Su Wanxia knew it was futile to refuse, so she simply agreed. Besides, as friends for so many years, it wasn’t a big deal to see her off.
"Some guests came to the house today, my old man called and told me to come back early," Jesse stood up, looking helpless.
Su Wanxia raised an eyebrow. Jesse had always gone head-to-head with his father. Why was he so obedient this time, going back just because he was told to?
"What guests, to actually make you listen to your dad?" Su Wanxia teased.
"Sigh, I heard they’re pretty important, I’m not too sure myself. I’ll go and see, he really laid down the law this time, I have to go back even if I don’t want to," Jesse said with an exasperated expression.
Su Wanxia chuckled, "Then you’d better hurry back, or you’ll get a scolding for being late."
"OK, bye~~"
"Bye~~"
After Jesse left, Su Wanxia’s rendering was almost complete. She meticulously went over the post-production work again with the colleague taking over, and only then did she truly set her mind at ease.
Before leaving work, she stood by the window and looked out at the bustling traffic.
The city was beautiful, from the initial panic to the eventual adaptation and fondness, it had truly been a long process.
Six years passed by here; it’d be a lie to say there were no attachments, but six years of emotions couldn’t compare to the home she’d lived in for over a decade, and that unforgettable love.
She just hoped that her choice wouldn’t be something she’d regret in the future, and she also hoped that their love could last even longer—
