Chapter 144: Chapter 144 He is into You_1
Jesse looked at him with a startled expression and immediately asked in confusion, "Mr. Mu, what’s wrong?" Why was he looking at him with that kind of look? Was he really that scary?
Mu Chuyang gave an awkward smile and tried to brush it off, "Heh, nothing, nothing."
Jesse did not press him further and turned to Su Wanxia, "Shall I take you back to where you’re staying first?"
"Sure, that’d be great," Su Wanxia replied with a smile.
In fact, she was living in an apartment owned by Jesse. When she first started working at the company, she hadn’t found a suitable place to live yet, so Jesse, who had quite a few properties, picked out a nice one close to the company for her.
At the time, she insisted on paying rent, but he had dismissed it as an extra benefit for the company’s outstanding talents.
Well, although she was just a newbie at work and not yet an outstanding talent, he had insisted, and she had no choice but to accept it. She decided to work even harder to become a qualified designer, to bring more benefits to the company.
Walking on the streets of London, one can truly appreciate the sense of history.
Even though there aren’t skyscrapers reaching into the clouds as in China, every exquisite and ornate building there exuded a classical charm and a majestic aura.
Su Wanxia lived in a three-story western-style apartment building and resided on the top floor, where the sunlight was particularly good, and the air was very fresh.
Every morning after getting out of bed, she would open the window, take a deep breath, and feel refreshed and invigorated all day.
"Wow, Wanxia, this is a really nice environment," Chuyang exclaimed as he stood downstairs and admired the large flowers, green plants, rockeries, and flowing water nearby.
"Yeah, I really like it here too," Su Wanxia responded, looking at the familiar scenery she hadn’t seen for a long time, feeling a heartfelt emotion.
"You must have become attached to it after living here for so many years," Jesse said, looking sideways at Su Wanxia, his voice somewhat ethereal.
"Yes," Su Wanxia nodded, then said to the two, "Alright, let’s go up."
Jesse and Mu Chuyang followed her lead and started walking upstairs.
As soon as Su Wanxia opened the door, Mu Chuyang entered with a look of curiosity.
The apartment’s interior was decorated with warm colors, giving it a real sense of home.
"Wow, Wanxia, you can paint too?" Chuyang wandered around the apartment and suddenly exclaimed upon seeing a painting on the wall.
Su Wanxia could only roll her eyes in resignation. Was it really that strange that she could paint?
Jesse chuckled, "Summer, you’ve been on a plane for so long, take a good rest. I’ll treat you two to dinner tonight."
"Jesse, I actually came back this time because I wanted to—," Su Wanxia found herself suddenly struggling to speak.
"Let’s talk about it over dinner," Jesse cut her off from continuing, his ice-blue eyes filled with an unmistakable tenderness.
At that moment, Su Wanxia didn’t dare to look directly into his inviting eyes and sighed inwardly with some helplessness, replying, "Okay."
"Alright, then I’ll go back first, there are still some things at the company," Jesse said.
"Okay."
After saying goodbye to Mu Chuyang with a nod, Jesse walked away with a touch of melancholy.
Chuyang watched as Jesse left and then plopped down next to Su Wanxia, probing, "Wanxia, does he have feelings for you?"
Su Wanxia gave him a look and responded with mild annoyance, "Which eye of yours saw him having feelings for me?"
"I saw it with both my eyes. It’s so obvious, anyone could see it," Chuyang stated decisively.
Su Wanxia’s heart skipped a beat. Was it really that obvious? No wonder that time—Yingchen got so angry.
Seeing that she was at a loss for words from his comment, Chuyang stood up and started roaming around the room again.
Thinking of Mu Yingchen, Su Wanxia suddenly remembered that she hadn’t told him she had arrived.
She took out her phone, intending to call, but then hesitated, remembering the time difference with China. It was two in the afternoon here, which meant Yingchen was probably still asleep.
So she simply sent him a message telling him she had arrived and not to worry.
Just as she placed her phone on the table, the screen lit up again.
She glanced down and immediately arched an eyebrow.
"Did I wake you up?" she asked softly as she answered the call.
"You think I’m like you, always struggling to wake up?" Mu Yingchen’s splendid and magnetic voice resonated like piano strings.
Su Wanxia made a face. "Then what are you doing up without sleeping?" Could it be he couldn’t sleep because he was thinking of her?
But Mu Yingchen’s next words quashed her self-flattering thoughts.
"I’m working out—"
"Er—alright, but why do you bring a phone with you when you’re working out?"
"To answer your call," Mu Yingchen replied smoothly.
A sweet feeling stirred in Su Wanxia’s heart.
"Hmm, now that you’ve answered, you can be at ease."
"Yes, I’ll come back after finishing up here."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Mu Chuyang at the side clicked his tongue and said, "Ah, people in love just enjoy showing off in front of single folks."
"You can show off to someone too."
"How can I show off without a girlfriend? Why don’t you introduce one to me?" Mu Chuyang wore a flattering expression.
Su Wanxia rolled her eyes at him, too lazy to respond.
"You just stay in that room, go and tidy it up yourself," Su Wanxia directed Mu Chuyang to a room.
"Hey? Wanxia, I’m the guest and you’re the host, it shouldn’t be my job to tidy up," he protested.
"Then you can opt to sleep in the living room," replied Su Wanxia unabashedly.
"Okay, okay, I’ll tidy it myself. It’s just making the bed, nobody can’t do that," grumbled Mu Chuyang as he went off to make his bed.
Su Wanxia opened her suitcase and reorganized everything she would need, to prevent any mishaps at work the next day.
At 6:30 p.m., Jesse called to say he was downstairs waiting to take them out for dinner.
Su Wanxia changed her clothes and after a simple touch-up, called upon Mu Chuyang and left the house.
Perhaps it was because Mu Chuyang, the third wheel, was tagging along that Jesse didn’t engage in much conversation with Su Wanxia during the ride, sticking to routine pleasantries.
And Su Wanxia didn’t feel it was appropriate to discuss her resignation in the car, deciding to wait until mealtime or after dinner to tell him.
Jesse drove Su Wanxia and Mu Chuyang to a very nice Western-style restaurant.
The steak here was exceptionally delicious and very popular among the English populace.
After the three ordered their meals, Su Wanxia hesitated about how to broach the topic with Jesse.
"Wanxia, didn’t you say you were coming to England to sort out your resignation? When are you going to the company?" Mu Chuyang suddenly turned his head and asked Su Wanxia with an innocent face.
Su Wanxia instantly felt embarrassed; she gave Mu Chuyang an exasperated glare before turning to Jesse across the table.
Jesse didn’t seem too surprised, but the smile on his lips carried a tinge of strain and bitterness.
"Is that so?" His ice-blue eyes stared deeply at Su Wanxia across from him.
A tightness clenched Su Wanxia’s heart; she bit her lip and with an evasive look, gave a slight nod. "Mhm."
