Chapter 148: 147, I once loved you, very much (3100)_2
Titus Zane spun the bar stool around and lifted her graceful neck to look around, "I’m in front of the bar."
"Got it." Logan Ray ended the call and made his way back towards the bar, weaving through the crowd of dancers.
From a distance, seeing that familiar figure moving through the crowd, Titus Zane curved her lips into a smile, a disguise of sorts.
Because her eyes were heating up, a bit moist...
Seeing Logan Ray approaching through the crowd, Titus Zane hopped off the bar stool and stood still, watching him.
"Titus!" With a sigh, Logan Ray tightly embraced her, Titus Zane didn’t move but also wrapped her arms around him tightly.
In front of the bar, the two hugged each other tightly, Titus Zane’s lips curving into a beautiful arc, while Logan Ray buried his head into her shoulder, not moving for a long time.
Nathan Moore’s hand holding the wine glass tightened and relaxed, a glass of red wine he had been drinking all night was still less than one-third empty. He cast his gaze downwards, looking into the glass at the red liquid, his thin lips curved slightly, revealing a hidden bitterness.
Suddenly, he lifted his head and downed most of the wine, swallowing it along with an indistinct emotion.
"Are you alright?" Letting go of Titus Zane, Logan Ray held her shoulders, scrutinizing her from head to toe.
"As you can see." Titus Zane lifted the corners of her lips slightly, her expression light, as she sized up Logan Ray in turn.
Perhaps it was because of the rush, Logan Ray wore a knit sweater over his white shirt. It looked hand-made with a somewhat wide neck, showing two buttons of the shirt underneath.
At his unbuttoned neckline, a red-purple mark was evident, but he seemed unaware of it.
The Logan Ray from before always had a refined look mixed with talent, but now, he exuded the steadiness of a mature man, perhaps due to being married now.
After sizing Titus Zane up again, Logan Ray said, "Seeing you safe and sound puts my mind at ease."
Titus Zane curled her lips, "Let’s have a drink together."
Looking over at the bar behind her, Logan Ray then noticed Nathan Moore’s presence. His clear eyes showed neither surprise nor hostility, just a slight nod as a greeting before turning back to Titus Zane.
"No, thanks, Eleanor... her health isn’t good, I need to go back and take care of her," Logan Ray said gently, but Titus Zane quickly understood his implication, her finely-arched eyebrows twitched, but her slightly lifted smile didn’t change as she extended her right hand towards him.
"About to become a father, congratulations!"
Logan Ray seemed a bit embarrassed, holding Titus Zane’s hand tightly, his downcast eyes holding an indescribable emotion, and he managed a strained smile, "What’s there to congratulate, I’m already getting up there in age."
"It’s precisely because of your age that you deserve congratulations even more!" Titus Zane playfully lifted her eyebrows, her smile devoid of other emotions.
"Thank you." Logan Ray pursed his lips, gripping Titus Zane’s hand tightly when she suddenly spoke up, "Oh right, the money I borrowed from you last time..."
"I told you, it was given to you!" Titus Zane hadn’t finished speaking when Logan Ray interrupted her, lifting his eyes to look at her with a serious expression.
"That’s not right," Titus Zane smiled, smoothly pulling her hand from Logan Ray’s tight grip and straightening the waves of hair by her ear, "We agreed it was a loan, and it should be repaid. Only if there’s borrowing and repaying can I feel comfortable asking you in the future."
After speaking, Titus Zane turned to pick up her wallet from the bar, a limited edition Prada ladies’ wallet priced in the five-figures.
She unzipped it and pulled out a card to thrust into Logan Ray’s hand, her expression turning serious.
"Logan, thank you for helping me through tough times back then..." That year, when the hospital was pressing for medical fees, and her own card was maxed out, she had no friends in T city apart from Logan Ray, so she had to call him... But...
Calling countless times, until the call automatically hung up, Logan Ray never once picked up.
With nowhere to turn, dressed in patient attire and dragging a plaster-cast leg, she went to the Ray Family’s doorstep to wait.
Logan Ray could never forget that night, the sky heavy with no stars, as oppressive as his mood at the time.
When his car turned towards the villa’s gate, a woman burst out from the side, her head wrapped in gauze, her arm and leg encased in plaster, dressed in hospital attire, wearing hospital slippers, and having lost one.
When he saw Titus Zane appear in front of his car in such a mess, Logan Ray hurriedly braked and jumped out of the car.
Titus Zane struggled towards him, crying and saying, "Logan, please help me..."
At that time, his heart was bleeding. The once proud woman who wouldn’t bend for wealth was now begging so humbly for his help.
Memories always bring bitterness, even after so many years, even though he’s about to become a father.
Holding the bank card that Titus Zane pushed into his hand tightly, Logan Ray was deeply moved.
"Did you end up with any lasting issues?" On such a cold day, penniless, she had walked to find him from the hospital. At that time, he despised himself for not answering her calls...
"No," Titus Zane bent her lips, "As you know, the technology abroad is more advanced than at home," she said, rolling up her shirt cuffs, "Look, no scars were left."
"Good, good that there aren’t any." Looking at Titus Zane’s smooth arm, Logan Ray nodded incessantly, his lips pressed tight, and when he raised his head, an apologetic tone emerged, "I’m sorry, I can’t stay and chat more, we’ll catch up another time when I’m free."
"Sure." Titus Zane nodded with a smile, Logan Ray extended his arms again, and Titus Zane stepped forward to embrace him.
Then Logan Ray whispered close to her ear, "Titus, I once loved you, loved you deeply, so deeply!" Having said that, not waiting for Titus Zane to respond, he let go of her, patted her arm, pursed his lips again, and managed a small smile, "I have to go now, see you another day!"
"Yeah, goodbye."
