Chapter 222: Chapter 222: Kane’s Silly Habit

Thea was sitting on the couch, flipping through some food recipes.

Kane was across from her, sipping chocolate milk while playing with his new laptop.

The moment he saw Chantelle, his eyes lit up.

He quickly got up and ran over to her.

"Mommy!"

"Have you been a good boy at Auntie Thea’s house? Where’s Rai?" Chantelle asked as she bent down to pick him up, feeling her sadness fade the moment she saw her son.

As they chatted, she walked into the living room with him in her arms.

"Rai went with Uncle Philip to Silver Crest Global District for a check-up," Kane replied.

"Chantie, come here, quick!" Thea called out, looking up from her recipes. "Tell me the truth, did Mr. Wilson really cheat on you?"

She tossed her recipe book aside and rushed over, worried by the look on Chantelle’s face.

It was obvious Thea was hoping for some juicy gossip.

Chantelle paused when she saw her rushing over, then slowly put Kane down.

"Kane, go play upstairs for a bit. Mommy needs to talk to Auntie Thea."

Thea had been so caught up in the moment that she forgot the little guy was still there. She quickly covered her mouth, looking a bit guilty.

Kane glanced at both of them, then nodded like a good boy. He grabbed his toy laptop and ran upstairs.

But in truth, he was only pretending to leave.

When Kane reached the top of the stairs, he abruptly stopped at the landing.

There was no way he was going to miss the gossip.

His jerk of a dad had cheated on his mom?

That was too juicy to ignore.

He stayed out of sight behind the wall. He didn’t make a sound as he put on his earphones. They were connected to a phone he had secretly placed under the sofa earlier.

Down in the living room, Thea was already excited. She had even prepared a plate of cantaloupe and a glass of chocolate milk as soon as Chantelle texted her that she was coming.

Now, she was fully ready to dig into the drama.

Even though Thea was Chantelle’s best friend, she didn’t hold back her emotions when she heard about the cheating. She cursed Daniel right away and even told Philip not to come to her house for dinner anymore, just because he was Daniel’s best friend.

But after thinking about it thoroughly, she started to doubt it.

Daniel didn’t seem like the type to cheat. Maybe it was all a misunderstanding.

"Chantie, come on, tell me everything. Didn’t Mr. Wilson just hand over most of his fortune to you? How can he suddenly have a fiancée?"

"I don’t know the full story. Some woman from a rich family suddenly showed up, and it looked like they already knew each other."

Chantelle’s face turned cold again as she remembered the whole scene.

Just thinking about how Camille held Daniel’s arm made her blood boil.

She honestly wanted to slap her.

"They knew each other? After all these years, I’ve only ever heard about Kate who he allowed to come closer to him. So, has he been cheating on you this whole time while pretending to be the perfect husband? Wow, this is serious. Mr. Wilson is really a smooth playboy!"

Chantelle didn’t even know what to say to that.

Still, a part of Chantelle felt Thea might be right.

Camille was rich, beautiful, and well protected by her family. She and Daniel had known each other for a long time.

When Chantelle thought about everything, it really felt like it had all been planned from the very start.

"Chantie, tell me honestly—how do you feel, knowing Mr. Wilson cheated on you? Are you angry? Heartbroken?"

"It’s nothing special. I’m just annoyed he fooled me. If he already had this perfect fiancée, and they’d been together for a while, then why did he come back to me? When I was gone all those years, he could have taken away my title as Mrs. Wilson at any time."

"Not even a little jealous?" Thea teased her and clearly was fishing for more drama.

She lived for gossip like this.

"Why would I be jealous? If he likes someone else, that’s his business. I’m just mad that he made a fool out of me." Chantelle answered with a bit of hesitation, sounding stubborn.

The truth was, seeing Camille acting close to Daniel did sting a little. But more than anything, she was just annoyed.

Yes, I’m just annoyed at him. That’s all.

"If that jerk didn’t value your feelings, then why stay loyal to him? Chantie, remember, you’re stunning, smart, talented, and sexy, even with three kids. If Daniel dumps you for that rich woman, that’s his loss, not yours. Sure, he’s the most powerful and good-looking in Easthan, but you secretly have the same level of power as he does. Hmph, I hate him now! Come on, let me take you out and cheer you up."

"What do you mean?" Chantelle asked, puzzled.

"Chantie, listen to me. There are tons of good-looking men out there, and half of them live in Easthan! Another thing, you’ve owned that scumbag’s massive fortune, so why not use it? Let’s go out and have some fun like real rich ladies!"

As Thea said this, she grabbed Chantelle’s arm and started pulling her toward the door.

When they walked past the stairs, she didn’t forget to call out to Kane, who was hiding nearby.

At that moment, Kane was crouched behind a small box at the landing. However, his little butt was clearly sticking out.

He didn’t even realize he was giving himself away.

It was too cute!

"My sweet Kane, your mom and I are going out to buy groceries. Be a good boy while we’re gone!" Thea called out while grinning.

Kane didn’t say any words and pretended he didn’t hear their conversation. In his mind, if he didn’t say anything, his mom wouldn’t find out he had been secretly listening the whole time.

"Thea, let’s just take Kane with us. I’m not comfortable leaving him home alone." Chantelle had just seen Kane trying to hide again. She shook her head and made the suggestion.

This little rascal always hid his head like that was enough, even though the rest of him was clearly showing.

It was one of his silly habits.

But no matter how many times she told him, he never changed.

"I don’t think it’s a good idea to bring a kid to the market," Thea replied. "Let’s call Mr. Charles and give him the door passcode instead."

"B-But..."

Chantelle wanted to object, but Thea was already dragging her out.
