Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Even Geniuses Mess Up Sometimes

Railer began explaining everything seriously, using terms Philip couldn’t even follow. He just sat there, eyes wide, nodding without a clue.

Haha, I’m going to be rich! Philip thought excitedly.

"Rai, did you say you’d help me earn money? I’ve been thinking... more money is always better! I’ll give you a billion as the starting amount. Is that okay?"

"Sure. But even if it’s your money, you’re not allowed to mess with my stock decisions," Railer replied seriously with his arms folded across his chest.

"Of course, it’s all up to you!" Philip grinned as he transferred one billion to Railer.

He didn’t understand stocks at all, so even if he wanted to interfere, he couldn’t.

All he could think about was how much money Railer was about to make for him.

Feeling pleased, he absentmindedly took a bite of the tomato in his hand.

Hmm, pretty sweet.

"Uncle Philip... please don’t tell me we’re having raw tomatoes for a snack," Railer’s eyebrows furrowed as he stared at Philip with doubt written all over his face.

"Huh? Of course not! Just wait and I’ll show you my cooking skills! I’ll prove to you what a real genius looks like!"

In a great mood, Philip raised the tomato like a trophy and struck a dramatic pose before heading to the kitchen.

Railer just stared at Philip in silence, wearing a blank expression. He clearly didn’t trust whatever Philip was about to cook, but he didn’t say a word.

One hour later, about 200 feet from Silver Crest Global District, at a 24-hour diner.

Both Philip and Railer walked in wearing matching dinosaur pajamas. Philip looked defeated as he carried Railer inside.

"Rai, pick anything you want. Dinner’s on me," Philip said while flipping through the menu, trying to act normal.

He didn’t want to admit that he had burned a frying pan. All he wanted to make was a simple tomato and egg dish but it ended in disaster.

Well, even geniuses mess up sometimes. It’s not my fault, Philip thought.

Railer glanced around the nearly empty restaurant. He said nothing. All he wanted now was to eat as his stomach was already growling.

Chantelle still felt uncomfortable with Daniel lying next to her. But she was too tired to stay awake and soon fell asleep.

As time passed, she slowly relaxed. At some point, she even ended up hugging Daniel’s arm and slept like that until morning.

When she woke up, she was surprised to find herself still in her room. She hadn’t sleepwalked at all.

But Daniel wasn’t there.

Chantelle sat up, worried. She didn’t know if his fever had gone down.

Chantelle quickly sat up. Just as she was about to get out of bed, her phone rang. It was Calvin.

"Ms. Chantelle, I found Joseph. I have his location."

Thirty minutes later, Calvin’s car pulled up near a thick forest outside the Rose Castle in Skeynia. He activated the car’s stealth cloak.

Inside the car, Chantelle sat with her laptop on her lap. Her slim, pale fingers moved quickly over the keyboard. She soon pulled up a list of the castle’s networks.

Chantelle entered a string of codes. After a few minutes, she managed to hack into the castle’s security system.

Chantelle knew the castle well. It used to be one of Wesley’s favorite places.

Back when Wesley was alive, he often stayed there for short visits.

He cared for Chantelle deeply, so she sometimes joined him during those visits.

The castle once looked like something out of a fairytale. But now, thorny vines covered it. It no longer looked beautiful or grand. Instead, it gave off a dark and eerie feeling.

Chantelle remembered Wesley once told her the castle was built for his beloved daughter. But his daughter had never stayed there, not even once.

The castle held many of Wesley’s painful memories. People said his daughter died young in an accident. Wesley was heartbroken. To ease the pain, he adopted an orphan who looked like her.

But the Wilson family chose to hide it from everyone. They never talked about it openly.

Chantelle had never seen Wesley’s daughter. She didn’t know what had really happened to her.

So why did Joseph choose to live in the castle after coming back to Easthan? Did he have some connection to Wesley’s daughter?

With questions swirling in her mind, Chantelle felt a strange emotion in her chest.

Something told her the truth was just around the corner.

"Ms. Chantelle, the target is found," Calvin said. He had located Joseph through the castle’s cameras and reported it right away.

Chantelle snapped out of her thoughts and quickly zoomed in on the screen.

Joseph had just woken up. He was still in a plain t-shirt and didn’t seem suspicious.

But just as she was about to check other parts of the castle, Joseph suddenly turned and looked straight at the camera.

Chantelle was startled at his action. A chill ran down her spine.

Did he notice something?

Chantelle held her breath. She kept her eyes on the monitor and waited.

After a few seconds, Joseph turned back around and sat at the desk. He looked like he was working on some documents.

Chantelle finally let out a soft sigh.

She leaned closer and zoomed in on the camera again, hoping to see what he was doing.

But the image on the screen was too blurry.

She adjusted the camera, trying to get a better view of what he was reading on his laptop.

Just as she was about to see his laptop, the screen suddenly turned to static.

Chantelle frowned. She pressed a few keys, but nothing happened.

Did someone hack into my laptop?

She felt worried. She quickly glanced at Calvin’s laptop.

Everything looked fine on his end, which made her feel a bit better.

Maybe it was just a weak signal.

She tried reconnecting the system again.

The screen came back but what she saw next made her freeze in shock.

Damn it. Can’t he at least change inside the bathroom?

Chantelle felt her face heat up. She reached for the keyboard, wanting to switch the camera view. But her computer screen hung.

She had no choice but to watch Joseph changing right there in his room. His body was well-built, but Chantelle was too embarrassed to look at his naked body.

Without thinking twice, she shut her laptop.

"Ms. Chantelle, look at this. Doesn’t it look like a prison cell?" Calvin said as he stared at another camera feed.
