Chapter 185: Sunflowers
Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Sunflowers
Chantelle walked to the terrace on the top floor.
A sudden breeze brushed against her face, making her eyes squint in reflex.
When she opened them again, she saw a field of flowers in front of her.
Her sadness faded right away.
Sunflowers! What a beautiful view!
Daniel walked over to Chantelle, holding a bunch of sunflowers.
At that moment, he looked just like the angel she had dreamed of six years ago.
Chantelle stared at him, a little dazed.
"These sunflowers..." she murmured.
"I got them for you. Do you like them?" Daniel asked gently.
"How did you know I like sunflowers?" Chantelle looked surprised.
Then, she turned her eyes toward Kane.
He was sitting quietly at the table, watching them.
When she gave him a suspicious look, Kane shook his head right away.
He was sure he hadn’t told Daniel about the sunflowers.
He had been just as surprised when he saw them earlier.
"Do you want to know how I found out?" Daniel asked.
"Nope," Chantelle replied flatly.
"Alright. Let’s eat first," he said, handing her the bouquet and leading her to the table.
Chantelle sat down and realized she was in the same seat she always chose six years ago.
If she tilted her head up just a little, she could see the Wilson Group Of Companies building shining under the sunlight.
After she sat down, Chantelle slowly lifted her head without realizing it.
But this time, she didn’t see a distant building.
She saw Daniel—right in front of her.
The man she once watched from afar was no longer out of reach.
Chantelle froze for a moment. Then, she looked at Daniel and smiled. But right after that, tears began to fall.
Seeing her tears, Daniel panicked.
"Chantelle, what’s wrong? You don’t like this place? We can go somewhere else," he said quickly.
"Mommy, why are you crying? I’ll hug you!" Kane rushed over and wrapped his arms around her.
"I’m okay. Sand particles just got in my eyes," Chantelle said softly. She felt the warmth from Kane and tried to calm herself down.
"Really? I’ll blow on your eyes," Kane said as he gently leaned closer and blew her eyes.
"I’m okay now. Thank you, Kane," Chantelle said with a gentle smile.
"Really?" Kane still looked unsure and stared at her with worried eyes.
"Yes, I’m fine. I’m getting hungry. Let’s pick our food!"
Chantelle and Kane started looking through the menu together.
For a moment, everything felt peaceful and happy again.
But Chantelle didn’t notice that Daniel was watching her silently.
His hands were clenched tightly and veins popped out.
He was trying hard to hide the pain in his heart.
When Chantelle lowered her head, Daniel quietly turned to the window.
He looked at the shining building across the road.
A faint red light from a telescope reflected in the glass.
He had once stood there for hours, watching Chantelle from afar six years ago.
"Daddy, what do you want to eat?" Kane’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
Daniel turned back and smiled softly.
Just as he was about to reply, Chantelle spoke first.
"He doesn’t need to choose!"
"I like whatever you pick," Daniel said as he moved closer to Chantelle’s side.
Instead of sitting across from her, he sat right beside her.
"Me too!" Kane chimed in with a grin.
"Why are you two sitting so close to me? The seat across is empty," Chantelle complained.
The space around her was now becoming crowded, and it was hard for her to even use her fork properly.
"It’s cold out here, but it’s warm next to you. Umm...Honestly, I feel better sitting next to you," Daniel confessed bluntly, smiling at her.
"Daddy is right!" Kane quickly agreed.
"Then why sit outside if it’s cold? Couldn’t we have just eaten indoors?" Chantelle asked with a frown.
"But you wanted to date me and act sweet. How can people secretly take pictures of us if we don’t sit out here?" Daniel said, throwing the question back at her.
Chantelle was speechless after she heard his words.
Forget it. Sitting close to each other does feel warm, she thought.
Meanwhile, after being humiliated during the live broadcast, Roman panicked. Many netizens were furious and started searching for him.
Scared, Roman quickly unplugged his equipment and ran.
But the power of the internet was strong.
Before he could even leave the villa area, the netizens had already found him.
"There he is! Get that shameless jerk!"
"Let’s protect people from scammers!"
"You’re disgusting for selling fake stuff!"
The netizens surrounded Roman and started throwing rotten eggs and vegetables at him.
Scared out of his mind, Roman tried to run, with Kingsley shielding him.
But the area was silent and open, and Roman was getting old.
He couldn’t outrun the younger crowd.
In the end, they caught him, stripped off his clothes, tied him up, and dumped him in a trash bin.
Some even filmed the scene and posted it anonymously online.
Instantly, the news titled "Roman Gets What He Deserves" shot to the top of the trending list.
People flooded the internet with comments, mocking and criticizing him.
They even renamed the trash spot Scum Market.
Roman sat naked in the trash bin filled with resentment in his eyes.
Many people in the villa area were rich and well-known. They would all recognize him now.
He blamed the netizens for ruining his name.
"Kingsley, remember all these people! I’ll sue every last—"
Before he could finish his words, someone shoved a pair of filthy socks into his mouth.
Right after that, more trash was thrown at him.
Roman crouched lower in the bin, face red with humiliation.
In his mind, he cursed Chantelle over and over again.
It’s all Chantelle’s fault! Roman gritted his teeth. She’s ungrateful! I raised her for years and got nothing in return! Now she’s causing me trouble? I’ll cut her into pieces one day!
The netizens finally left when they heard police sirens approaching.
Finally, Roman was rescued.
But the people who attacked him had been wearing costumes—Ultraman, Iron Man, and other cartoon characters.
When the police asked Roman to describe them, he couldn’t give a clear answer.
Even though he wanted to sue them, he had no clue who they were.
This made him even more furious.
"Damn it! That bitch Chantelle is to blame!" Roman growled as he tried to wipe off the rotting vegetable leaves stuck to his skin.
No matter how much he wiped, the stench wouldn’t go away.
