Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 183: The Castle Is On Fire

Chapter 183: Chapter 183: The Castle Is On Fire

Leanna stood outside the CEO’s office, trembling with joy.

Inside the office, Kane ran up and wrapped his arms around Daniel’s leg.

"Daddy, did you miss me?" he asked with a grin.

"Of course, I did! Did you come here alone? Are you hungry? Want something to eat?"

"Yes!" Kane nodded eagerly.

Daniel carried Kane to the dining table and sat down.

He looked at the pink lunch box and thought, I knew it. This isn’t just in my head. It’s familiar.

When he opened the lunch box and saw the messy pasta and fried egg, his suspicions became stronger.

After thinking for a moment, he picked up a spoon and tasted it.

The flavor hit him right away.

I was right. This taste... it’s familiar too. Daniel let out a light cough.

"Daddy, is the pasta yummy? That aunty said if you like it, she can be my new mommy..." Kane said, looking worried.

Hearing that, Daniel immediately understood everything.

"Kane, don’t believe her. No one can ever replace your mommy," he said, gently patting Kane’s head.

Soon after, Daniel’s face darkened. He picked up the office phone and called Ashton.

"Ashton, remove Leanna from the secretary department," he said coldly.

"Sir, did something happen?" Ashton asked, surprised. He was just having lunch in the cafeteria downstairs when he heard Daniel’s cold voice over the phone.

What did Leanna do this time? He wondered and felt anxious at the same time.

"Yes. She poisoned my lunch," Daniel said bluntly.

Ashton was stunned and nearly drop his tray. "What?!"

Daniel didn’t bother explaining in detail. The pasta in that lunch box was clearly made by Chantelle and he could guess it immediately.

She must’ve poured half a bag of salt into it. The taste was unbearable. But since he knew it came from Chantelle, he thought she was just playing a prank.

The problem was, Leanna said she made it. If she dared to take credit for someone else’s cooking, then she had to take the blame too.

Ashton cleared his throat and quickly asked. "Are you okay? How could she do something like that?"

"I’m fine. The evidence is on the dining table. Handle it."

Then he added in a cold tone. "And since her behavior is horrible, I want the reason for her dismissal published on the Easthan Capital Enterprise Network. What do you think?"

Ashton stood up quickly, face grim. "Understood, sir. I’ll take care of it right away."

After giving Ashton the instructions, Daniel walked over and picked Kane up.

He looked at him and asked, "Where’s your mommy?"

"She’s downstairs," Kane replied right away.

"Come on, let’s go find her and have a meal together," Daniel said with a gentle smile.

"Great!"

Chantelle was sitting on the couch in the rest area. She had fallen asleep without noticing while enjoying the warm sunlight.

When Daniel saw her, he didn’t want to wake her up. She looked calm and peaceful.

He gently put Kane down and carried Chantelle in his arms.

With everyone watching, Daniel walked straight into the elevator and headed to the underground parking lot.

People in the lobby were shocked.

Someone quickly snapped photos of them and posted them on Facebook.

The internet picked it up instantly. Within minutes, pictures of the Wilson family were trending everywhere.

Comments filled the post:

"He carried her! This looks like a scene from a fairytale!"

"Mr. Wilson is so good-looking! I want to be his girlfriend!"

"Oh my gosh, I can’t take it anymore! They’re so sweet together! Haha, Mr. Wilson looked so focused on Chantelle, he forgot Kane was even there! And Kane is just too adorable!"

Meanwhile, at an old castle in the Western Suburbs, Joseph was sitting on the couch, watching the trending news about him and Chantelle on his tablet.

"Well done! This photo is perfect. Chantie looks stunning. I love it," Joseph said proudly, clearly in a great mood.

But Fred stood nearby and was anxious. He could see how much Joseph cared about Chantelle.

"Sir, Chantelle is a married woman. Do you really love her?" he asked carefully.

"Of course. I love Chantelle very much. I’m serious about her," Joseph answered, smiling wide.

He set his tablet aside and picked up his gold-plated cane. He wiped it slowly with a handkerchief, treating it like a precious item.

"But her status isn’t the same as yours. You shouldn’t waste your time on someone like her," Fred boldly remarked.

Joseph’s face turned cold. His eyes darkened with a sharp, dangerous look.

"Fred, this isn’t your business. You have no right to get involved," he warned him.

"I—I didn’t mean to interfere," Fred replied quickly.

"I’ll let it go this time. But if you stop me again, I’ll send you back to Doskoustein. I don’t need an assistant who doesn’t follow orders."

"I’m sorry! Please don’t send me away!"

"Get out. Don’t bother me," Joseph said, driving him away after calming down.

Fred didn’t say another word. He turned and quietly walked out.

Joseph was finally alone. He finished wiping the cane and gently set it aside. He quickly grabbed his tablet, wanting to look at the photo of him and Chantelle once more.

But before he could touch it, a sudden force came from his right side.

Luckily, he reacted quickly. He grabbed his cane and blocked a dagger flying towards his direction. The dagger hit the wall and stuck into an expensive mural.

Joseph narrowed his eyes and walked towards it. He pulled the note away from the dagger. He saw a clear handwriting in rough and bold letters.

COVET CHANTELLE? GO TO HELL!

Joseph looked at the note and laughed. His smile was wild and amused.

So childish, Daniel, he thought.

But just as he chuckled, the dagger on the wall suddenly exploded. A loud blast followed, and flames burst out, lighting up the room in an instant.

Joseph quickly jumped back to dodge the blast. Smoke and dust scattered in the air. Some soot got on his face, making him look a bit messy.

"Sir, the castle is on fire!" Fred rushed in, shouting in a panic.

Joseph stood still as his eyes burned with rage.

"Daniel Wilson!" he shouted, slamming his cane hard against the floor.

Crack!

The sharp sound echoed in the room. Then, a visible crack spread across the floor beneath Joseph’s cane.
