Chapter 178: Lend Me Some Money
Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Lend Me Some Money
Chantelle just sat there, doing nothing.
He leaned in and whispered, "Chantelle, why are you just sitting there? Tell them you’ve used these products. How else am I supposed to sell them?"
"Huh? But I’ve never used them, Dad. I can’t lie to people," Chantelle said without thinking.
She didn’t seem to realize what Roman was trying to make her do.
"What do you mean you haven’t used them? I picked them out just for you. Maybe you forgot?" Roman kept giving her sharp looks, hoping she’d pick up the hint and say what he wanted her to say.
But Chantelle wasn’t going to lie for him to gain sympathy.
"Dad, telling the truth is the most basic thing a good person should do. I really haven’t seen these products before—not even once," she said as she picked them up, looking embarrassed to admit it on camera.
"And another thing—I wouldn’t be here smiling on this livestream if you hadn’t threatened to kidnap my son just to force me to show up!" Chantelle’s voice shook.
"I never thought you’d stoop so low for money. Even if you kidnap your own grandson, I won’t help you lie about these products!" Her eyes filled with tears, and they spilled down her cheeks.
"I kidnapped your son a month ago! Why bring that up again? You... you..." Roman shouted back instinctively. He was furious.
To him, Chantelle was acting foolish and clueless. He began to suspect she had only come here to ruin everything.
"Mr. Roman!" Kingsley gasped. He tried to stop Roman from saying more, but it was already too late.
"You little brat! Are you trying to set me up?" Roman finally realized Chantelle had trapped him with her words. He jumped up in rage to hit her.
Everyone watching the livestream was shocked by what they just saw.
"Oh my god! What kind of grandfather kidnaps his own grandchild?"
"Seriously! That’s just evil! If I were Chantelle, I’d cut ties with him for good!"
"No real family would ever do that!"
"Dad, I’m not trying to cause trouble," Chantelle said, trying to act calm. "I just didn’t want you using your kind and curious viewers to sell products that haven’t even been verified. That’s only going to hurt you—and everyone else too. I know you wanted people to think we’re not close so they’d feel bad for you. But if you don’t want me here, I’ll go..."
She gave him a sad, helpless look, making the situation even worse for Roman.
"You selfish brat! You just couldn’t stand to see me succeed, could you? You came here just to ruin everything! You ungrateful snake! I’ll teach you a lesson!" Roman shouted, shaking with rage.
He jumped out of his seat and attacked Chantelle, wanting to give her a good beating.
But he forgot one thing—Chantelle wasn’t the same helpless girl from five years ago. She was smarter now. She had set a trap for him, and he walked right into it.
As he ran at her, Chantelle quickly dodged and moved around the camera, making sure he couldn’t shut off the stream.
Roman was getting tired immediately. He was older now, and chasing Chantelle around had left him gasping for breath.
Still, his anger pushed him to keep going. He knocked over chairs and anything in his path as he kept chasing her.
"Mr. Roman! Please calm down!" Kingsley begged. He rushed to stop the livestream, but something went wrong, and it wouldn’t end.
All he could do was try to stop Roman from making things worse.
"Mr. Roman, everyone’s watching! You need to fix your image before it’s too late!" Kingsley grabbed Roman and whispered urgently in his ear.
Roman finally heard Kingsley’s panicked voice and realized the livestream was still running.
The rage burning inside him didn’t vanish, but he forced himself to stay calm. He couldn’t lose control now—not in front of thousands of viewers.
"Chantelle, I know you’re upset with me, and that’s why you tried to cause trouble today. But it’s okay. What can I say? You’re still my daughter," Roman said, trying to sound heartbroken.
"Dear viewers, if you want to scold me, go ahead. I deserve it..."
He lowered his voice and tried to act pitiful to win back the crowd.
Chantelle, however, wasn’t done.
In a small voice, she muttered, "I’m just stating the truth. You kidnapped my son. And you’re pushing products with no real brand behind them..."
She didn’t speak loudly, but viewers who turned up their volume could hear her clearly.
"Chantelle!" Roman growled through gritted teeth.
"Okay! Fine! I’m the bad one!" Chantelle said, raising her voice just a bit. "If you say you didn’t do those things, then fine—you didn’t. But please stop ruining my name. I’ve already had so many problems with Daniel Wilson because of you. I’m broke. I can’t even afford food. If you really still see me as your daughter... then lend me some money."
In front of the camera, Chantelle lowered her head and cried. She looked really sad.
Viewers watching the live stream started scolding Roman.
"What? Do you want money from me? Keep dreaming!" Roman shouted.
The thing he hated most was people asking him for money.
Chantelle had already crashed his livestream. Now she was asking for cash too. He thought it was outrageous.
"But you just told everyone you miss me and want to take me back. Was that a lie?" Chantelle asked and her face turned cold.
When Roman heard that, he was shocked. He didn’t know how to respond to it. A strange feeling of discomfort crept over him.
"Don’t look at me like that. We ended our relationship as father and daughter five years ago," Roman retorted coldly.
To him, Chantelle asking for money meant something was wrong with the Wilson family’s finances. There was no point in taking her back now.
"If that’s how you really feel, then stop lying to the viewers," Chantelle said firmly with a clear sadness flashed in her eyes.
Without another word, she turned around and walked away. She didn’t look back.
Roman clenched his teeth in frustration.
Damn it. She ruined my whole broadcast! Roman thought angrily.
Meanwhile, the livestream chat exploded. Viewers were furious about what they had just witnessed.
"What a jerk! He kidnapped his own grandson, used his daughter, and lied to us about those products!"
"I can’t believe he tried to trick us like that!"
"Let’s give him a taste of his own medicine!"
"I know where he lives! He’s in the same city as us. Let’s go find that scumbag!" someone commented.
