Chapter 176: Chapter 176: You’re Not Getting A Baby Sister
At that moment, in the dungeon below, Lone Wolf slowly woke up.
His hands and feet were chained to the wall.
His pale face looked even more terrifying than before.
As he slowly regained consciousness, Lone Wolf realized he was in a dungeon.
He moved his thin wrists, the blue veins showing clearly under his skin.
The iron chains clinked with each small motion.
Suddenly, he grinned wide.
"Daniel, do you really think you can keep me locked up forever? Don’t be stupid! Haha..."
His loud, wild laughter echoed through the dungeon and drew the guards’ attention.
Knowing how sly Lone Wolf could be, the guards entered carefully, holding crossbows.
But just as they stepped inside, a loud bang echoed.
The next moment, Daniel rushed down into the dungeon.
When he saw the guards already knocked to the floor, he knew something was wrong.
He ran forward without delay.
Inside the dungeon, Lone Wolf was already waiting for him.
Suddenly, the stone wall behind Lone Wolf exploded, leaving a large hole.
Cold wind from the mountain rushed through it.
"Daniel, we’ll meet again soon!"
Lone Wolf laughed loudly and jumped through the hole.
"Lone Wolf!" Daniel shouted.
A heavy splash followed.
It sounded like someone had fallen into deep water.
Daniel’s last hope seemed to disappear with that sound.
"Chase after him. I don’t care if you have to dive into the water. I want him alive!"
"Yes, sir!" Ashton replied and quickly ran out with the team.
Daniel stood by the hole in the dungeon and touched the edge.
His face turned cold.
The rocks were solid. There was no way Lone Wolf could’ve broken through without help.
Someone must’ve helped him from the outside.
The thought made Daniel’s expression become even darker.
He took out his phone and called Ashton.
"Lone Wolf likely have accomplices. Lock down the hills. Activate the satellite. I want him alive."
"Yes, sir!"
Meanwhile, Chantelle had a deep, peaceful sleep through the night.
But the moment she opened her eyes, she was stunned.
Why am I in Daniel’s room? Don’t tell me I sleepwalked here last night? Damn it!
Chantelle sat up quickly.
When she saw the room was empty, she let out a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, Daniel wasn’t there.
Good, she thought. I can sneak out without him noticing.
She grabbed a pillow and was ready to leave.
But the moment she turned around, she bumped into a firm chest.
She looked up and stared into Daniel’s bright eyes.
"Trying to sneak away?" he asked.
Catching Lone Wolf wasn’t easy. Daniel had planned to come back once Chantelle woke up.
Good thing I made it in time, he thought. She would’ve run off again.
Chantelle was shocked. She couldn’t believe Daniel had returned.
What was more surprising, Daniel was completely soaked.
His messy hair and firm body made him look even more attractive.
Who could resist such a sight first thing in the morning?
"If I say... I don’t know how I ended up here last night, would you believe me?"
Chantelle blushed and looked down, trying to avoid his eyes.
"I believe you," Daniel said as he wiped his wet hair with a towel. It seemed like he would believe anything Chantelle told him.
Chantelle was surprise after hearing his response.
He believes me? Seriously?
But this wasn’t the time to think about it. She needed to get out of his room quickly.
She stretched her hand and lightly touched his face.
"Great! I like that answer. Keep that in mind, okay? I’m still sleepy. I’m going back to my room now."
Before Chantelle could take a step, Daniel grabbed her hand.
"Wait a minute."
Damn it, she thought. I knew he wouldn’t let me leave that easily.
"Yes?" Chantelle asked, trying to sound calm.
Daniel didn’t answer right away.
He gently held her hand and slowly moved it from his face to his chest.
"What... What are you doing?" Chantelle gasped.
She didn’t mean to touch him. She wasn’t the one who started it.
Even if it felt good, she hadn’t planned any of this.
Daniel slowly guided her hand from his chest to his abdomen.
Then, he stopped at the wound on his lower stomach.
Before she could pull away, her hand accidentally tore off the dressing.
Chantelle froze when she saw the scars.
They had healed, but still looked painful.
"Since you ripped it off... can you change the dressing for me?" Daniel asked, looking at her seriously.
"What?" Chantelle was so shocked her jaw almost dropped.
"Daniel, how could you blame me? I didn’t rip your bandage! How is this my fault?"
"Here, the first aid kit." Daniel handed it to her and turned around, acting like he did nothing wrong.
Chantelle stared at the kit in her arms, wanting to throw it away.
But when she saw his swollen wound, she paused.
Damn it. Just this once. I’ll help him one last time.
Chantelle opened the first aid kit and took out a cotton swab.
Daniel had already sat down at the edge of the bed.
"I think my wound will heal fast with the medicine Philip gave me," he gently reminded her. "Don’t worry about me, okay? Just stay by my side and it will be enough."
Chantelle’s hand trembled as she held the cotton swab. Her cheeks turned red.
"Daniel, why are you saying nonsense this early? I’ve had enough! Go ask Philip to help you."
She threw the cotton swab down and ran out in a panic.
Ugh! What’s wrong with Daniel? How dare he!
Chantelle rubbed her face, trying to calm down.
But all she could think about was Daniel’s abs.
She gasped at the thought.
He’s doing this on purpose!
Chantelle stormed down the stairs.
Suddenly, she noticed a small figure nearby.
A bad feeling hit her.
"Mommy, did you sleep in the same room with Daddy last night?" Kane asked with bright eyes. "Are we getting a baby sister soon?"
Kane had come to check if Daniel was feeling well enough to make him an omelet.
He didn’t expect to see Chantelle walking out of Daniel’s room.
"No! You’re not getting a baby sister!" Chantelle said quickly.
"But you—" Kane started, but Chantelle covered his mouth before he could finish.
She scooped him up in her arms and hurried downstairs.
Once they reached the first floor, she put him down.
