"Kane?" Chantelle gasped in surprise. She pushed herself up and saw Kane, wearing a helmet with a headlamp.

"Why are you here?" she asked, confused.

Am I dreaming?

"Mommy, don’t be scared. I’m here to save you!" Kane reached out his small hands and grabbed hers, trying to pull her up.

Chantelle held his hand and used the railing to support herself.

As she moved, a sharp pain from her wound hit her. She wanted to cry from the pain. It was a clear sign everything wasn’t a dream.

"Mommy, it looks like it’s going to collapse soon. We need to leave now!"

"Okay, let’s go." Chantelle nodded and picked Kane up in her arms. She pushed through the pain in her wound and walked toward the exit.

When they reached the first floor, they saw that half of the hospital’s front building had been destroyed by the blast. Debris was everywhere. It looked like a wasteland.

The wall near the basement, where she had just been, was far from the center of the explosion. It was still standing and untouched.

"Kane, have you seen Daddy?"

"Daddy, he..."

"Daniel! Yes, Daniel Wilson!"

Chantelle saw a pit in the distance, formed by the explosion. Several men stood around it—they looked like bodyguards from the Wilson family. They were searching for something.

Her heart sank. She quickly put Kane down and ran toward the pit.

Before Kane could finish what he wanted to say, she was already gone. He stood there, puzzled.

He turned around and stared at Philip who was talking to Daniel.

"Daddy, what’s going on with Mommy?"

"Your mother... I think she likes me."

"What? Mommy likes Daddy? Then why is she running toward the big hole?"

Is she going to bury Daddy there? That actually sounds like a good idea.

"Mommy, I can help you!"

Kane stretched out his legs and ran to his mother with excitement.

Philip had just finished treating Daniel’s wounds. He couldn’t help but complain.

"Daniel, I don’t think tricking Chantelle like this is a good idea. What if she can’t find you in the pit? She might bury you alive when she sees you now!"

"You don’t get it. This is part of my plan to make our bond stronger."

Philip, who had been single for a long time, felt insulted by his words.

"Fine, fine, as long as you’re happy. But that was way too much. You can’t pull a stunt like that again. I’m scared I’ll die before I even get married!"

"Philip, thank you for showing up on time." Daniel said with genuine gratitude.

When Daniel ran out of the building, Philip had arrived just in time.

Luckily, the signal from the digital bracelet came back once Daniel was outside.

Philip used an app on his phone that worked with the bracelet to fake the heartbeat reading. That’s how he managed to safely remove the bomb from Daniel’s body.

To avoid any more danger, they attached the bomb to the phone and tossed it onto an empty patch of land.

"Don’t mention it. We’re brothers."

"Well, Daniel, my phone saved your life. Can I get it reimbursed?"

That phone had been with him for years. He hadn’t even replied to the message from the woman he liked.

Just then, Daniel’s eyes widened. "Oh no. Chantelle’s probably still digging through that pit looking for me. I better go, or she’s going to blow up."

Without another word, Daniel ran off, leaving Philip behind.

I haven’t replied to her message! If anything goes wrong, this is all your fault!

On the other side, Chantelle stood in the pit, digging like a madwoman.

Her clothes and hands were stained with dirt.

"Daniel Wilson! Daniel Wilson! Come out!"

The bodyguards nearby were stunned by her behavior.

After the blast, Ashton’s team had been clearing the debris non-stop. They had no clue what Chantelle was trying to find.

They were all confused, but no one dared to ask.

Ashton had warned them—never upset Chantelle, no matter what. She was the woman Daniel loved.

Daniel walked up to her and pulled her into his arms.

"My dear wife, were you looking for me?"

Chantelle was stunned as she fell into his warm arms.

She quickly looked up and her red eyes widened in shock. "Daniel?"

"Yes, it’s me. Don’t be scared. I’m here."

"You’re not dead?"

"No. As you can see, I’m perfectly fine."

"So, you’ve been watching me dig around like a fool in that pit?"

"No, not really..."

He felt that something was wrong with her tone.

Before he could say another word, a sharp pain hit his cheek.

Everything fell silent at that moment.

Kane, blocked from entering the pit, was trying to find a way to sneak in. When he saw Mommy slap Daddy, he quickly covered his eyes.

Oh no, Daddy!

Maybe I should leave now!

Kane slowly turned to slip away, but Philip grabbed him in an instant.

They ran from the scene as fast as they could and hid inside the car.

"Kane, what happened? Was it bad? Was Chantie really mad?"

"Yes! Daddy’s doomed! I’ve never seen Mommy that angry before!"

Philip touched his own cheek subconsciously as if he felt the slap himself.

Meanwhile, Daniel was speechless and was completely stunned by the hard slap.

He thought he’d get a kiss—not a slap!

That was a real slap in the face!

"Hey, are you mad that I’m alive? Why did you hit me?" Daniel asked, holding his cheek, looking hurt.

Suddenly, tears spilled from her eyes.

"It’s... it’s my fault."

His hands began to shake. He deeply felt guilty.

"Daniel, you idiot! I don’t want to see you again!"

Chantelle shoved his arms away and stormed out of the pit, furious.

Daniel felt like his whole world was crashing down.

"Chantelle, wait! Let me explain... Chantelle..."

He ran after her in a panic, while the bodyguards quietly backed away, trying not to get involved.

"Oh my god, Mr. Wilson just got slapped by Mrs. Wilson, right?"

"Yeah, I saw it. Mrs. Wilson is really brave!"

"Oh no, who do we follow now that they’re fighting?"

"Are you kidding? We follow Mrs. Wilson. Didn’t you see? Mr. Wilson didn’t even get mad. He apologized after getting slapped. Have you ever seen him apologize to anyone before?"
