Chapter 166: Chapter 166: You Won’t Win A Fight With Me

Worried Lone Wolf was behind her, she quickly hid nearby. She held her breath and watched the elevator door open.

After waiting in silence, she slowly walked out of her hiding place. The elevator seemed empty. It was her only way out.

Good. No one’s here.

She pressed the button for the first floor. But just before the doors closed, a pair of hands reached in and forced them open.

Chantelle froze when she heard the familiar voice.

"We meet again, pretty one."

"You!" she shouted, kicking at the hand holding the elevator door. But Lone Wolf moved back quickly and avoided it.

"No need for violence," he said with a smirk. "Let’s just talk. You won’t win in a fight with me."

"What do you want?" Chantelle glared at him with eyes full of anger.

Lone Wolf entered the elevator and trapped her in a corner. Before she could run, he grabbed her by the throat.

He grinned as sweat rolled down her face.

"Don’t be scared, pretty lady. I just need a little favor from you."

"I don’t do crimes. You’ll have to find someone else," Chantelle said calmly.

"Don’t turn me down so fast. You might be interested in this one," Lone Wolf replied.

Chantelle gave him a fierce look but she stayed silent. She knew he would explain anyway.

He leaned closer while grinning ear to ear. "Daniel tracked your phone. He’ll be here soon. I’ve already told my men to surround the place. He won’t get out alive."

"You still haven’t given up on killing Daniel?" Chantelle asked with a deep frown.

"Hah! We were paid to do it. We don’t stop until the job is done. I can’t wait to see Daniel Wilson beg for his life!" Lone Wolf laughed loudly and started dancing in front of her.

Chantelle watched his wild behavior with worry.

"Why are you telling me your plan? Aren’t you afraid I’ll stop you?" she asked.

"Because I need your help, pretty lady. Just stay here and wait for Daniel. Once I’m done, I’ll let you go. Deal?"

"So I’m the bait?" she asked immediately.

"Yeah, if you want to call it that way. Just do as I say, pretty lady," Lone Wolf said as he grabbed Chantelle’s arm and pulled her out of the elevator.

He led her to the last lab room. She didn’t resist and followed him silently.

When he pressed a button outside, the glass door slid open.

"This is your room now. Be good and stay put. Or else—ahh!" Lone Wolf cried out as Chantelle drove a dagger into his side.

She had hidden it in her sleeve and struck him when he let his guard down.

He groaned and tried to push her away, but was hit with a sharp electric shock. His body shook from the jolt.

"If I were you, I wouldn’t move," Chantelle warned him as she stepped back. "The dagger has a nanochip. It’s in your bloodstream now. If I flip the switch again, you’ll get shocked."

Lone Wolf cracked his neck and tried to shake off the pain. But the dagger had hit an old wound.

Blood seeped through his shirt. He looked up instantly with cold and sharp eyes.

"You’re testing my patience, pretty lady," he growled.

He hadn’t expected Chantelle would move so fast. He didn’t even realize she knew he was injured.

"Daniel just told me he loves me. I can’t let him die yet. So, you’ll die instead." Chantelle pulled the trigger again.

Lone Wolf dropped to the floor, just like she expected. He looked like he had passed out from the shock, but Chantelle didn’t feel safe.

Something about it felt too easy.

Her first thought was to get out. She ran toward the elevator to head back to the main hall. But after one step, she fell.

Someone had grabbed her leg.

Chantelle looked back and saw Lone Wolf grinning.

Fear filled her when she realized he was still fine.

"Did you really think that could stop me? I’m insulted," he said with a sneer.

Then, he wrapped the golden thread around her neck.

She gasped for air as the thread buried slowly into her skin. She tried to pull it off, but nothing worked.

"You want to be with Daniel? Fine. Die with him then," Lone Wolf laughed like a madman.

Chantelle dropped to the floor immediately and barely moved.

However, he hadn’t seen her grab the dagger and stab her phone. It sparked and let out gray smoke.

"Chantelle Bently!" Lone Wolf shouted when he saw what she had done.

Chantelle let out a weak cough and said, "Daniel won’t find me now without the signal. Your plan to kill me won’t work." She gave him a mocking smile before blood dripped from her mouth.

The golden thread tightened around her neck deeper, and everything around her started to fade.

At the same time, Daniel held a bouquet of sunflowers and told Ashton to drive to where Chantelle was.

"I thought flowers were for couples," Ashton said, trying to sound bold. He didn’t want Daniel to rush things with her.

"She likes sunflowers," Daniel answered.

"Oh? You still remember what Mrs. Wilson likes?" Ashton asked.

"Yes, I do," Daniel said sadly.

He remembered the night she waited for him. She was pregnant then, sitting on the doorstep, excited to show him the sunflowers she had grown. He didn’t say a word and just walked past her.

The next morning, he saw the bright yellow flowers inside his bedroom. They looked beautiful and warm. But just ten minutes later, he told the staff to remove them.

That same morning, he had received proof that Chantelle caused his grandfather’s death.

Without checking the truth, he believed it and handed over a divorce agreement to her that day.

I was a fool. I was cruel. I owe her more than just a bunch of sunflowers.

"Tell Charles to replace all the flowers in the yard with sunflowers," Daniel said.

"Okay! Mrs. Bently will be touched when she sees how much you love her," Ashton said with a smile.

Before Daniel could warn Ashton to stay out of his personal life, his phone rang with a strange, sharp tone.

It rang a few times, then went silent. The signal showing Chantelle’s location was gone too.

He gripped his phone tightly as his hands turned cold and damp with fear.
