Chapter 147: I Will Visit My Precious Daughter
Chapter 147: Chapter 147: I Will Visit My Precious Daughter
"We need to think of a way to get close to Chantelle—for the sake of our future. The Wilson family is powerful. Now that Mr. Wilson has accepted her, she’s officially the lady of the Wilson household. That makes us the grandparents of the Wilson heirs. We’re family now. We can’t let this chance slip away!"
Ruby held Roman’s arm and said sweetly.
"I know. You think I don’t want to get closer to that foolish woman? She has to meet me halfway. Since you’re back, why don’t you go? You are her mother, after all."
Roman was irritated, but she had a point.
The Wilson family was too powerful to ignore. With their support, rising to the top would be easy.
"Fine, if you insist. I’ll go visit our precious daughter!"
Ruby acted like she agreed reluctantly, but deep inside, she was excited. This was exactly the support she wanted from him.
Chantelle was a naive girl who grew up without love and would do anything just to earn her mother’s approval.
Years had passed, but some things didn’t change. Ruby was sure that deep down, Chantelle was still soft and easy to sway.
While Ruby was thinking about her next steps, Roman’s phone kept ringing.
She noticed the excitement on his face and she walked up to him.
"Who was that on the phone, dear? You look happy!"
"Hah, that was Leon Network. They asked if I wanted to be their contracted anchor. They want me to go live and sell products to make money."
"And you said yes?"
"300,000 an hour? Of course, I did! That’s more than I ever made at the company!" Roman was over the moon. He never imagined he had what it took to be an anchor.
Leon Network really knew talent when they saw it.
If he actually made it big, the money would be incredible!
She silently looked at him, who got lost in his excitement and knew exactly what to do next.
"Can you take me with you, dear? I’d like to see how it all works."
"Great idea. I need an assistant anyway. Why don’t you take the job? I’m the hottest name right now. They’ll say yes to anyone I bring!"
Roman felt like his whole life was finally turning around.
Meanwhile, at Western Hill Villa, Chantelle had been busy keeping peace between her husband and Philip ever since she caught them arguing.
She even started wondering how she missed how strange their relationship seemed.
Kane woke up hungry and headed straight to the kitchen with Railer to ask Calvin for some pastries.
Railer lost interest fast and climbed into his smart chair to check stock data.
He clearly didn’t care about having tea with Kane.
Even though Railer acted distant, he didn’t mind people being around him.
When Chantelle came down the stairs, it was Railer who noticed the strange smile on her face first.
"Did something good happen, Mommy?"
"Of course. I found out..." Chantelle almost let the gossip slip without thinking. But the moment she realized Railer was the one asking, she shut her mouth instantly.
It wasn’t something he should know about.
She then changed the topic.
"I found out we can go pick out matching parent-child outfits! Ha... haha..." Chantelle blurted out, grateful for her quick thinking.
"Matching parent-child outfits? With Daddy too?" Railer asked calmly.
"Umm... about that..." Chantelle hesitated.
It was just something she made up on the spot. Those kinds of outfits were usually cute and cartoonish. She wasn’t sure if Daniel would ever agree to wear something like that.
"Well, something like that should be worn by the whole family."
Daniel had just finished changing and jumped into the conversation right on cue.
Chantelle gave him a stiff smile. I didn’t actually mean it...
Before Chantelle could say anything to Daniel, Kane came running in on his short legs.
"Let’s pick one for Baymax too! Okay?"
"Of course. Anything for you, Kane." Daniel said, smiling.
Rai, on the other hand, didn’t like Kane’s idea of picking something cute.
"Do we have to choose something childish?" he asked with a frown.
He had never done anything like this with his family before and was secretly excited.
"Guys, would you believe me if I said I was just joking with my suggestion?" Chantelle asked quickly.
Daniel and Kane both ignored her question.
Meanwhile, the excited Kane had already climbed into Daniel’s arms comfortably.
They really were father and son.
Chantelle let out a soft sigh and walked over to Railer.
"Do you think we can change their minds, Rai?"
"I don’t think so, Mommy," he said, glancing at his dad and brother with a calm look.
"Are we just going to stand here and watch them without doing anything?" Chantelle grumbled, refusing to admit she was jealous of the little brat clinging to Daniel.
"No," Railer replied calmly agay, putting his phone aside. "If Mommy agrees to stay with Daddy, then our parent-child outfits can be formal coattails for the wedding."
"..."
She was speechless.
Thanks a lot, my sweet son. You’re totally setting me up this time!
Without another word, she turned and walked off, pretending none of this ever happened.
She barely took two steps before Kane blocked her path.
"Why don’t we ask Auntie Thea to help us? I miss her!"
"No way!" Chantelle cut him off the moment she heard Thea Powell’s name.
"Why not? Auntie Thea makes really nice clothes!" Kane looked confused.
"Don’t bother your Auntie Thea over something so small! She’s a very busy designer!" Chantelle waved her hands around, trying to make her point clear.
"No? I already sent her a message. She said she was watching a drama. I told her about the parent-child outfits, and she said she’s coming over!"
"What? Thea’s coming?"
"Yeah! Auntie Thea asked if Daddy and Uncle Philip were here too. She said she wants to hear some gossip!"
"She’s on her way!"
Kane proudly shared every single message with her.
"Umm... Daniel, listen to me..." Chantelle wanted to disappear from how awkward things had become.
It was her fault for secretly snapping a photo of Daniel and Philip and sending it to Thea.
Even the parent-child outfits were something she said without thinking...
She gave Daniel an apologetic look when she saw how dark his expression had turned.
