Chapter 143: That Murderer Still Alive?

Chapter 143: Chapter 143: That Murderer Still Alive?

Still, Kingsley’s words caught his attention. He pulled the man inside, wanting to hear more.

"Please stay calm, Mr. Bently. This is the video everyone’s talking about. Watch it yourself!"

Without waiting, Kingsley played the clip.

Roman felt like he came back to life the moment he heard Daniel call Chantelle his wife.

Chantelle is my daughter. If she’s Mrs. Wilson now, then I’m the head of the Wilson family.

Haha, I’m a father-in-law. I even have grandsons!

The joy was too much for him. He kept asking Kingsley if it was real.

"You’re not lying to me, Kingsley?"

"Start packing, sir. The Bentlys are saved!"

"That’s right, the young madame of the Wilson family is my daughter. Everyone will want to invest in us now."

Roman quickly cleaned himself up. He was getting ready to meet Chantelle, sure she would convince Daniel to support the Bently family.

He was already thinking about landing some big projects.

As he washed his face, he planned his next steps.

Chantelle had always been the gentler one between his daughters. She was easier to control.

Now that she had given Daniel a son, it only made sense that half of the Wilson wealth should belong to him too.

He felt certain that Chantelle wouldn’t refuse if he asked.

Just thinking about it put him in a good mood.

Western Hill Villa.

Chantelle didn’t expect Daniel to agree so easily to let her take both kids with her.

The two children were exhausted after playing in the mountains. She tried to get them to rest once they got back.

But they had already decided—they wanted to sleep with her.

She had no choice but to bring them upstairs. Each child curled up beside her.

Since Daniel agreed to get along peacefully after the truth came out, she slept better than she had in a long time.

Sadly, a loud sound snapped her out of her dreams.

She sat up, still groggy, and saw the kids were still sleeping. After getting dressed, she headed downstairs.

Roman was in the lounge, looking proud and annoyed. Calvin had stopped him from going inside the house.

"Who do you think you are? This is my daughter’s house. Why wouldn’t I be allowed here? I don’t need permission from someone like you. Don’t be ridiculous."

He pointed a finger in Calvin’s face, acting like he’d always been part of Chantelle’s life.

Calvin stayed calm and polite, but he had no plans to back down.

He had followed Chantelle to Easthan. He knew exactly what kind of man Roman was.

Roman only showed up because he wanted money.

A man like him didn’t deserve to be her father.

It was only out of respect for Chantelle that Calvin didn’t throw Roman out.

"Mr. Bently, like I said, Ms. Bently is resting. Please come back another time or wait in the foyer."

"I’m her father and I have to wait like this? You’re out of line! Tell Chantelle to come see me now! She’s alive and won’t even come out? Where’s her heart?!" Roman shouted angrily.

Deep down, he was afraid Chantelle had changed and was staying away on purpose.

"If you won’t move, then I will!" Roman tried to push past when Calvin didn’t let him through.

"Calvin, what’s all this noise? Don’t you know the kids are sleeping?" Chantelle came downstairs slowly, wrapped in a jacket. She had heard Roman yelling the whole time.

Calvin quickly played the part of a clumsy, soft-spoken butler.

"I’m sorry, Ms. Chantelle. Mr. Bently insisted on coming in even though I told him you and the young sirs were resting..." Calvin looked embarrassed as he explained.

Before he could finish, Roman shoved him aside.

Calvin stepped forward to stop him but saw Chantelle give him a quick wink, so he backed off.

"Chantelle. My sweet Chantelle. You’re really alive. I missed you!" Roman rushed to grab her hand, but she stepped back.

"Who are you?" She narrowed her eyes as she asked doubtfully.

"Chantelle. It’s me, your Dad. Don’t you remember?"

"Dad? I had a father five years ago. But he called me a murderer. He was scared I’d ruin his name and even disowned me in public. I doubt he’d dare show his face now. Sir, I suggest you stop sneaking into houses and pretending to be someone you’re not."

She said calmly, then yawned and started to walk away.

But Roman quickly blocked her way. He won’t allow to lose this chance to prove who he was.

"Chantelle, look at me. I’m your father. I was wrong not to believe you back then. But I’m here now. Can you forgive your old man?"

He grabbed her arm in excitement, not knowing she was hurt.

"Let go! You’re hurting me!" she cried out.

The injury in her arm had almost healed, but it reopened yesterday when she tried too hard to hold Daniel’s arm at the mountain.

She had treated it when she got back and was careful not to squeeze it again. Roman’s sudden grip caught her off guard.

Blood started to seep through. Sweat formed on her forehead.

All Roman cared about was getting Chantelle to accept him. He wanted to be the father of Daniel Wilson’s wife. He didn’t notice that his grip had opened her wound again.

He kept talking, ignoring her cries of pain.

"Chantelle, where is your conscience? You’re my daughter. You’re a Bently family member. Are you really going to let the Bently family fall apart?"

"You used to be such a good girl. What happened to you? You ungrateful child!"

"Are you even listening to me?" He kept pulling on her arm.

She was now struggling to breathe.

"Let go of me or you’ll regret it!" Chantelle shouted and her voice became weak from the pain.

"I’ll regret it, huh? You think Mr. Wilson will save you now? You refuse to recognize your own father, you little bitch?!"

Roman had lost all control. He looked like he was ready to hurt her. But before he could do anything more, someone grabbed his arm.

"Tell me, Mr. Bently, what exactly did my wife do for you to storm into her home and lay a hand on her?" Daniel’s voice was cold and threatening.

Roman instantly backed down.

"Ah, you’re here, Mr. Wilson. I was just talking to my daughter. Nothing serious..." Roman said with a forced smile.
