Chapter 672: Chapter 672: Responsible for You to the End (1)
Lu Wanwan’s perfectly normal comment was misconstrued by him, and she immediately blushed furiously.
As she stared at the serious-looking man, she gritted her teeth for a long time but couldn’t utter a word.
It felt like anything she said could be turned into flirtation.
The helicopter indeed was fast; Gu Annan confirmed the location with someone and landed on a rooftop plaza at the center of Xigang.
Lu Wanwan got off the helicopter, glanced at the time, and hurried away without any intention of thanking him.
Gu Annan watched her for a moment but didn’t say anything, just turned to the person meeting him and asked, "Is the car ready?"
"It’s ready, Mr. Gu. The car is waiting downstairs."
Gu Annan nodded and then leisurely walked towards the direction Lu Wanwan had gone.
When Lu Wanwan reached the rooftop door, two men dressed in bomb disposal suits, armed with guns, stood motionless, their expressions stern.
What kind of place was this? Were these soldiers?
Could one not come and go freely here?
Lu Wanwan hesitated for a moment; as she continued walking forward, the two motionless men suddenly blocked her path with their arms.
"Let her pass." Gu Annan strolled over, moved his lips slightly, and the two men immediately retracted their arms with uniform movements.
Indeed, it wasn’t a place one could freely enter or leave.
"Let’s go."
Hearing his voice, Lu Wanwan turned around, still puzzled in her heart.
The sky had darkened; his sharply angled face in the dim light had even more distinct lines.
His deep black eyes looked over with a playful smile, slightly squinting, "Don’t want to leave? Want to fly around in the sky a bit more? Though you seemed quite scared."
"When did I say I was scared."
"Weren’t you so scared you couldn’t even make a sound?"
Lu Wanwan fell silent; she had been rendered speechless by his teasing.
Plus, her life safety was entirely in his hands, so she didn’t dare to provoke him and simply pretended she hadn’t heard.
"What is this place?" she asked as she came out of the rooftop passage, looking around.
Everywhere she looked, there were clean grey-white walls and men in black bomb disposal suits.
The entire floor was so quiet there wasn’t a sound.
It didn’t seem like a temporary stop.
"My place," he said with his hands in his pockets, strolling out from behind, "Xigang’s branch office."
The elevator doors opened, and Gu Annan followed her inside.
He pressed for the first floor directly.
"I can go to the city center by myself, you don’t need to drop me off," she said as she noticed the lit button didn’t indicate any other floors. "You go ahead with whatever you need to do."
"Did I say I was busy?" Gu Annan’s lips curved slightly, seemingly in a good mood, he enunciated each word clearly, "I’ve been quite free recently. And when I say I’ll take responsibility, I mean all the way to the end."
Lu Wanwan internally ranted, wondering why he emphasized the words "take responsibility."
Her mind flashed back to when she had hurriedly told him that if she was late, he would have to take responsibility, and Gu Annan’s response was that he had to take responsibility for everything concerning her.
"Are you also going to the film festival?"
"If you’re going, I’ll go; if not, we can go somewhere else." His voice was lazy, indifferent to their destination, as long as she was with him, it was fine.
"Gu Annan, stop following me!" Lu Wanwan, clutching her bag of essentials, frowned deeply and spoke earnestly, "You might be on holiday, but I still have to work hard."
"I’m not stopping you from working. There are so many people at the film festival, does it matter if there’s one more of me?" His cool voice carried a hint of scrutiny as he looked at her, "Can’t I go watch a movie? Can’t I look for anything worth investing in? What does it matter if I happen to go the same way as you?"
