Chapter 999: 985, just like wagyu steak, well done (2) Chapter 999: 985, just like wagyu steak, well done (2) Behind him, Bai Jue walked leisurely.
“Nothing.” Jian Luo changed the subject, “Bai Jue, how are the check-up results?”
“No major issues, just that my body is still rather weak, and it needs proper recuperation.” Bai Jue said, “To fully recover, it’s going to take some time.”
Upon hearing this, Jian Qing and the others all breathed a sigh of relief.
“Grandma, hug.” Nineteen ran over, acting coy, and Jian Wei had absolutely no resistance, practically seeing hearts in her eyes.
Mo Xiao helped lift Nineteen into her arms, and Jian Wei hugged him, taking a small biscuit from the table to give to him.
“Qingqing, Seventeen and Nineteen are even more delicate than you and Luoluo were as kids.” Jian Wei gently poked Nineteen’s chubby cheek, her eyes crinkling with a smile.
Jian Qing teased, “Mom, if you like them so much, why don’t you and dad try for another one?”
“No way, your mom and I want to enjoy our time alone.” Jian Wei hadn’t spoken yet, but Mo Xiao was quick to reject the idea.
He wanted to monopolize her for the rest of his life!
“Tsk tsk, so cheesy!” Jian Qing laughed and leaned on Quan Jingwu. Jian Wei reached out and twisted Mo Xiao’s waist hard.
“He drank too much tonight.” Jian Wei withdrew her hand calmly and said.
Mo Xiao looked at his wife with a touch of grievance.
Was confessing his love such a sin?
“Luoluo, Seventeen and Nineteen can already walk. When are you, as their uncle, going to hurry up and give them a little brother or sister?” Jian Wei suddenly thought of something and looked at her son with interest.
She hadn’t been able to attend her daughter’s wedding, but she surely couldn’t miss her son’s.
Jian Luo was instantly taken aback, unsure why the fire had spread to him.
Finding himself the focus of everyone’s gaze, Jian Luo gave an awkward smile, “Mom, having Seventeen and Nineteen is enough, otherwise let my sister have another little princess for you next year.”
“I’m talking about you; why are you dragging your sister into this? Are you championing some kind of singleton belief?” Jian Wei asked with curiosity.
“Actually…”
Black Jack had just started speaking when Jian Luo hurriedly interrupted.
“Actually, I haven’t thought about that yet, Mom. Suddenly, I remembered I still have some things to handle, I’ll go back to my room. Mom, you should rest early too.”
After finishing, Jian Luo all but fled on greased heels.
Black Jack watched his retreating figure, a hint of darkness crossing his sapphire-like eyes.
Jian Wei was puzzled, “Why is Luoluo in such a hurry, I’m not forcing him to get married.”
Jian Qing held back a laugh, casting a meaningful glance at Black Jack.
It seemed Luoluo needed to soothe someone’s ruffled feathers.
The cool night air was dotted with the feeble light of sparse stars.
On the comfortable big bed, Jian Luo was absorbed in reading on his tablet.
Black Jack, after finishing a phone call, opened the balcony doors and came in.
“Black Jack, I saw an internet-famous restaurant online, let’s go try it out tomorrow.” Jian Luo, hearing footsteps, said without even lifting his head.
Black Jack put down his phone and slipped under the covers into bed.
“Look, this place’s steak and dessert cakes aren’t bad, we can take some cakes back for Seventeen and Nineteen to try.” Jian Luo, oblivious to the mood, scooted next to him and showed the tablet.
Black Jack glanced at the tablet and listlessly moved his gaze away.
Feeling the silence beside him, Jian Luo finally sensed something amiss.
He sat up and looked at him, “Black Jack, what’s wrong?”
“When are you going to add a little brother or sister for Seventeen and the others?” Black Jack looked at him in seeming leisure.
Jian Luo inwardly cursed; his smile couldn’t have been broader, “Well, I was thinking about going to this place for steak tomorrow, let’s go together.”
Black Jack asked, “Luo, what relationship do we have?”
“Hmm…” Jian Luo tilted her head, thought for a moment, then picked up the tablet and pointed to the restaurant’s signature dish.
“Like this steak, well-done.”
Black Jack finally couldn’t hold back any longer, a charming smile spreading across his lips.
Seeing him smile, Jian Luo sighed with relief, smiled with squinting eyes, and took hold of his hand, about to say something when the knocking at the door suddenly sounded.
“Dong dong dong—”
“It can’t be my mom this late, can it?” Jian Luo pushed Black Jack, “Why don’t you hide in the bathroom?”
Black Jack’s handsome face darkened, “Am I someone who needs to hide?”
Jian Luo offered a obsequious smile, “Temporarily.”
Black Jack threw the covers aside and got out of bed. Jian Luo watched him walk towards the door, and ran out of bed in a panic to follow him.
But, he was still a step behind.
The door opened, revealing the clear and handsome face of Quan Jingwu.
Accompanying him were two little treasures in panda onesies.
Jian Luo’s heart, which had been in his throat, finally settled down, “Quan Jingwu, what are you doing here so late?”
He almost scared the heart attack right out of him.
Quan Jingwu set down the little treasures and said indifferently, “They’re sleeping with you tonight.”
“No way.” Black Jack refused without a second thought.
As if he didn’t know what that shameless guy Quan Jingwu was plotting.
“It’s not with you they’re sleeping, why the rush?” Quan Jingwu cast him a casual glance, then patted Seventeen’s little head, “Seventeen, who are you sleeping with tonight?”
“Uncle.” Seventeen lifted his little head, his shiny eyes curving into crescent moons.
Quan Jingwu casually put his hand in his pocket, shrugged his shoulder with an indescribable coolness, “You heard him, I’ll leave them in your care.”
The two little treasures happily ran into the room, and Quan Jingwu hooked his lips, “Seventeen, Nineteen, be good and go to sleep.”
“Mm,” the two little treasures climbed onto the bed with effort and started jumping on it immediately.
Quan Jingwu left suavely, while Black Jack felt an itch in his teeth, wishing he could stuff the little treasures back to him.
Jian Luo patted his shoulder, then walked back to the bed.
Black Jack closed the door and saw the little treasures clinging to Jian Luo’s embrace, so he lifted a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose.
He was starting to doubt if in his past life he had done something to offend Quan Jingwu, and now in this one, he had come to settle the score?
The Next Day
“Damn, did you two go thieving last night?” Bai Jue looked at the two people who sat across from him. Touching upon the dark circles under their eyes, he froze for a second, then burst out laughing.
“Planning on becoming national treasures with those big dark circles?”
“Get lost.” Black Jack grabbed a slice of toast and flung it towards his face.
Bai Jue caught it effortlessly and took a bite, “Thanks.”
“By the way, where’s my sister and her family?” Jian Luo took a sip of juice and asked.
“Family of four went out to have fun,” Bai Jue pulled some tissue to wipe his mouth.
“I’ll be heading to Beijing in a few days, do you guys want to come along?”
“It depends, but we should probably head back to Y Country first,” Jian Luo said.
“Yeah, the daughter-in-law should also go back to visit her mother-in-law,” Bai Jue teased.
Jian Luo paused while holding the jam-covered knife, waving the sharp blade at Bai Jue a couple of times, “Bai Jue, I don’t want to commit murder this early in the morning, so shut your mouth and smoothly roll out of here.”
