Monopolize My Mysterious Wife
Chapter 989 - 989 975 Late Compensation (1)

Chapter 989: 975, Late Compensation (1) Chapter 989: 975, Late Compensation (1) At night, a faint fragrance wafted through the air.

After their baths, the two little treasures rolled around on the bed with their pale, tender bodies. Jian Qing, holding clothes in her hands, shook her head with a smile at the sight of the two of them huddled together.

“Seventeen, Nineteen, come here and get dressed.”

The two little treasures, engaged in their lively play, quickly crawled over upon hearing Jian Qing’s voice.

Jian Qing, with practiced movements, dressed the two little treasures. As she picked up a slightly damp towel, intending to head to the bathroom, someone knocked on the door.

“Knock, knock, knock–”

Jian Qing set down the towel and walked over to open the door.

As the door opened, the poker-faced A’er came into view.

“Jingwu is waiting for you in the study room.”

The mechanical voice sounded, devoid of any fluctuations.

Jian Qing raised her eyebrows and glanced back at the two little treasures, “Could you please watch Seventeen and Nineteen for me then?”

Without giving A’er a chance to respond, Jian Qing quickly stepped out.

A’er stood there dumbfounded, glancing up at the two little treasures on the bed, who also happened to look back at him, leaving the three in a silent standoff.

A’er stiffened, his expression revealing a trace of unease.

“Uncle A’er,” Nineteen called out softly.

Taken aback, A’er then moved over at a tortoise’s pace.

He stood by the bed, looking down at the two little treasures from a height, his hands not knowing where to rest.

After a while, he managed to squeeze out a sentence, “You… just sit nicely.”

“Uncle A’er, toys.” Seventeen stretched out his little hand to grab A’er’s hand, sending a tremor through A’er’s dark eyes as his sturdy body tensed up.

He looked down at the small figure holding his hand, the corners of his mouth quivering slightly.

“Let go.”

“Car.” Seventeen said firmly.

In the end, A’er admitted defeat, “I’ll get it for you.”

Upon hearing this, Seventeen released his hand with a beaming smile, while A’er headed over to the sofa to fetch the toys for them.

Approaching the door of the study room, Jian Qing could smell the faint aroma of tea seeping through the slightly ajar door, the refreshing fragrance instinctively relaxing her.

She pushed open the door and entered. Shen Yan was making tea.

“You’re here, have a seat.”

Shen Yan put down the teapot, his lips curling into a gentle smile.

“What brings you to me so late?” Jian Qing sat down opposite him, her gaze briefly noting his ruddy complexion, her eyes flickering subtly.

Shen Yan placed a cup of tea in front of her, “Have some tea first. I’ll go get something.”

Jian Qing lowered her eyes to the delicate tea cup on the table, the rising steam blurring her ink-black eyes, concealing the emotions within.

After a short while, Shen Yan returned with an envelope in hand.

“This is for you.”

He handed the envelope to Jian Qing, who looked up but didn’t reach out to take it.

“What is this?”

“A belated compensation, though I know you lack none of these things. Consider it a small token of my sentiment or, perhaps, a gift from this old uncle to the two little ones,” Shen Yan said in a mild tone, placing the envelope in front of her.

“The envelope also contains a USB drive, which you can look at after you get back.”

“I appreciate your kindness, but please take these back.” She knew he was considering her welfare, which was why she didn’t want to put him at any more trouble.

Helping them get away would already be a betrayal to his brother for him, and she didn’t want him to feel even more guilty about Shen Hua.

“Let’s not talk about rejection anymore. Anyway, these things are of no use to me now. You keep them. If you don’t want to accept them, it means you still haven’t forgiven me.” Shen Yan curved his lips into a smile, looking gently at her.

“I am quite fond of the two little ones, so consider this a gift from me to them.”

Jian Qing’s gaze became intent, and after a long while, she reluctantly nodded.

Seeing her willing to accept, Shen Yan felt a weight lift off his chest, and a look of relief flashed in the depths of his eyes, “Jian Qing, I’ve made the arrangements. The day after tomorrow, I’ll help you leave.”

If it had not been for Awei suddenly waking up, he would have arranged their departure for tomorrow, but now with Awei awake and his brother constantly guarding the small garden, switching people out was not an easy task.

Jian Qing asked with a serious face, “What are you planning to do?”

“The day after tomorrow, I will pretend to suddenly fall ill and lure my brother away from the small garden. Then, A’er will lead people there to switch out Awei. You and Quan Jingwu will be there to pick them up, while An Zhe takes Seventeen and Nineteen to the boat to wait for you. Once you’ve picked up the people, leave immediately, as time is limited. Hurry.” Shen Yan explained.

“At that time, I will have Dr. Kesen leave with you. A’er will also escort you; he is familiar with the roads here, so just follow him,” Shen Yan added.

Jian Qing’s eyes deepened, “What about you?”

“I know you’re worried about me, but rest assured, I have my ways,” Shen Yan said with an upbeat tone.

Jian Qing, observing his ruddy complexion, tentatively asked, “You look quite healthy these past two days, is your body feeling better?”

Shen Yan calmly took her measure, lips quirking up, “Thanks to Dr. Kesen, he has developed a new medicine, and as long as I take it on time, I won’t get sick often. Who knows, maybe I could even live to be a hundred years old.”

Tsk tsk, Awei, your daughter is really too astute, it’s truly difficult to keep anything from her.

Jian Qing said, “Why don’t you leave with us? I have a friend named Bai Jue, who is a very skilled doctor, and he might be able to cure you completely.”

“Heh, you still want to persuade me to leave with you all, huh?” Shen Yan picked up a cup of tea, taking a light sip.

“Let’s talk about this later.”

Late at night, Jian Qing was still not asleep.

The door lock made a slight clicking sound, and Jian Qing immediately became alert.

She put away the documents and turned her head, and under the soft lamplight, the man’s alluring handsome face came into view.

The wariness in Jian Qing’s eyes faded as Quan Jingwu approached her with steady steps.

“You’re still up this late?”

Jian Qing bumped into his embrace, rubbing against him habitually, “I can’t sleep.”

Quan Jingwu raised his hand to softly stroke her hair, his long fingers weaving through it. His gaze momentarily caught the envelope on the table, “Given by Shen Yan?”

“Yeah.” Jian Qing tilted her head to look at him, briefly recounting Shen Yan’s plan to him.

After listening, Quan Jingwu’s eyes briefly darkened.

Shen Yan’s actions indicated he was prepared to end things with Shen Hua for good.

“Get some sleep early. We’ve got a tough fight ahead,” he said, his magnetic voice slightly hoarse but immensely comforting.

Jian Qing nodded, wrapping her arms around his waist and not letting go, “Mhm.”

“I’ll leave after you fall asleep.” Quan Jingwu picked her up, kissed her brow tenderly, “Sleep now.”

Jian Qing squinted her eyes, finding a cozy spot in his arms. In a short while, drowsiness overcame her and she fell into a hazy sleep.

Remembering Shen Yan’s promise to bring the children to see her, Jian Wei got up early in the morning. After breakfast, she waited expectantly.

However, instead of seeing Shen Yan, the person she least wanted to see showed up.

Different from his usual black shirt and trousers, today Shen Hua wore a white shirt, the sleeves lazily rolled up, adding a touch of casualness and subtracting some of his usual severity.
