“I’ll go too,” Jian Qing said.

Shen Yan grabbed her arm, “Jian Qing, you can’t go now. My brother is there, and he won’t let you see Awei. I’ll check the situation first. Provoking my brother at this time is no good for you.”

Jian Qing paused mid-step, gave him a deep look, and then said, “If possible, could you take a photo for me?”

On this island, stepping outside the villa meant entering Shen Hua’s territory, where sneaking into the small courtyard was harder than ascending to heaven.

Shen Yan nodded, “I’ll do my best.”

A’er left with Shen Yan, leaving Jian Qing and her entourage behind.

“Dad, don’t worry. The best news is that Mom is awake,” Jian Qing said softly to the pacing Mo Xiao.

Mo Xiao hummed in response, the flicker of excited laughter in his eyes.

His Weiwei had awakened… awakened…

The sky was a clear blue, the entire garden fragrant with the scent of roses.

The salty sea breeze blew against the curtains, mixing with the aroma of roses.

“Weiwei, how do you feel? Is there any discomfort?” Shen Hua asked from the bedside, his handsome face alight with joyful smiles, his whole being exuding a gentle aura that was almost unbelievable.

On the bed, the woman who had been in a coma for years opened her eyes. Her pale face showed signs of weakness, and she stared blankly at the rose-carved ceiling, completely ignoring Shen Hua’s voice.

Shen Hua, noticing her silence, turned his icy gaze toward Dr. Kesen, “What’s going on here? Is there some kind of complication?”

Dr. Kesen, intimidated by his cold stare, quickly replied, “Miss Wei has just awakened, so she might be a bit slow to react. Just give her a moment to adjust.”

Shen Hua shifted his gaze, giving Dr. Kesen an icy sweat.

“Weiwei, it’s Ahua. Look at me,” Shen Hua said softly as he held Jian Wei’s hand, “Weiwei, do you know? You’ve been unconscious for so long, I was so afraid you’d never wake up.”

He rambled on, while Jian Wei stared at the ceiling, lost in thought, as her memories before the accident played through her mind like a slideshow.

After a while, her eyes trembled slightly, “Let… go… of me.”

She hadn’t spoken in such a long time, and her hoarse voice was somewhat grating. Every word seemed to drain all of her strength.

Shen Hua was stunned. Her first words upon waking were to ask him to let go of her.

Did this mean that she remembered everything?

She had not lost her memory.

“Weiwei, you…”

He held her hand, his fingertips trembling slightly, his deep voice barely hiding a tremor.

“Get lost.” Jian Wei struggled to pull her hand back, but having just awakened, she had no strength in her body.

Her indifferent words sent Shen Hua plummeting to the depths of despair.

He tightened his grip on her hand inadvertently, Jian Wei frowned slightly, her expression pained.

“Young master, please let go of her. You’re hurting her. She just woke up and shouldn’t get too agitated,” Dr. Kesen finally said.

Hearing this, Shen Hua quickly let go, gazing at the red marks on her pale wrist, a flicker of remorse crossing his eyes.

“I’m sorry, Weiwei. I didn’t mean it, I’m sorry.”

Jian Wei managed a scornful smile on her lips, begrudging him even a glance.

When he had conspired against her, he also said it was not intentional.

Could a simple “not intentional” erase the hurt he had caused her?

Shen Hua’s gaze never left Jian Wei; he clearly caught that slight smile on her lips.

Contempt, mockery.

She definitely hadn’t lost her memory.

She hated him. She hated him…

This realization hammered heavily upon his heart, Shen Hua’s gaze lowered, his heart twisted in pain.

After a long while, his voice hoarse, he said, “Weiwei, I was wrong about the past. Can you forgive me, please? Give me a chance to make it up to you, can we go back to being as close as we were before?”

She was still the little princess he cherished in his palm, and he was still the Huage brother she trusted the most.

As soon as she spoke, Jian Wei felt a severe pain in her throat, “Scram.”

Shen Hua clenched the bedsheets, his complexion growing extremely ugly.

“Awei!”

Shen Yan rushed in anxiously, Dr. Kesen breathed a sigh of relief and took the opportunity to step out.

Shen Yan hurried to the bedside, meeting Jian Wei’s gaze, his eyebrows lifted in joy, “Awei, how do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere? Thank heavens, you finally woke up.”

Seeing Shen Yan, Jian Wei’s eyes warmed slightly, and she reached out her hand to him.

“A… Yan.”

Shen Yan saw her reaching hand and quickly grasped it.

“Awei, when I heard that you had woken up, I was ecstatic.”

Jian Wei curled her lips into a bright smile that deeply pierced Shen Hua’s eyes.

“Ayan, water,” she said while coughing.

“Oh, okay, just wait a moment.”

Shen Yan had just gotten up when Shen Hua beat him to it and went to pour water, “Let me do it.”

Jian Wei looked at Shen Yan, with many questions she wanted to ask him, but seeing Shen Hua not far away, she had to temporarily suppress the queries in her heart.

“Here’s the water.” Shen Hua brought over a cup of water and reached out to help Jian Wei up, but she brushed him off.

“Ayan.”

Shen Hua’s hand hung frozen in mid-air, his complexion indescribably complex.

Sensing the tense atmosphere between the two, Shen Yan looked at Shen Hua and took the cup of water from his hand, “Brother, let me do this, why don’t you go out and ask Dr. Kesen about Weiwei’s condition, see if there are any sequelae or the like.”

Understanding that Shen Yan was giving him a way out, Shen Hua cast a deep glance at Jian Wei and walked towards the door.

“Here, Awei.”

Shen Yan sat at the bedside, one hand supporting her, Jian Wei leaned on his body, slowly sipping the water, the dry itch in her throat finally easing somewhat.

“Ayan, how long have I slept?”

“Eighteen years,” Shen Yan said.

At his words, Jian Wei was shocked; she had been in a coma for eighteen years.

Suddenly remembering something, she grasped his sleeve in a panic, “What about my daughter and son…?”

Worried that her emotions would fluctuate too greatly, Shen Yan quickly replied, “They’re fine.”

Jian Wei still did not believe it, “Ayan, don’t lie to me, how are they really?”

Shen Yan looked at the firmly closed door, carefully scanned the room to ensure there was no surveillance, and then whispered a few words into her ear.

Jian Wei’s eyes gradually widened, a mist gathering in them.

She clutched his hand, her knuckles turning white.

Her daughter and son had both gotten married.

Yet, she knew nothing about it; she didn’t even have the chance to watch them grow up, she wasn’t a competent mother.

Shen Yan gently patted her back, “You just woke up, you can’t get too excited, and there’s another piece of good news I have to tell you.”

“Hmm?” Jian Wei looked at him with puzzlement.

Shen Yan leaned close to her ear, his voice very soft, “The person you deeply love has also come.”
