Chapter 956: 942, Heavy losses (2) Chapter 956: 942, Heavy losses (2) Gazing into his deep purple eyes, Jian Qing’s spine tensed up.
Quan Jingwu gently wiped away the milk stains on her lips, his careful movements akin to cleaning a fragile piece of art.
“Where did you go with Grandpa today? Did you encounter any tricky matters?” Jian Qing shifted her gaze uncomfortably, looking for a topic to discuss.
Quan Jingwu retracted his hand and languidly lay down, resting his head on her lap, “It’s still comfortable like this.”
“…”
Jian Qing placed her hands by her sides, her expression revealing a degree of unease.
“If you’re tired, you can go back to bed to sleep.”
Quan Jingwu turned over, his strong arm circling her slender waist and snuggling into her embrace, “No need, it’s comfortable sleeping here.”
The key issue is that she wasn’t comfortable at all. Jian Qing grumbled inwardly.
“Sweetheart, I need to take a trip far away tomorrow,” said Quan Jingwu.
Jian Qing looked down, puzzled, “Hmm? Where to?”
“There’s some business in F Country that I need to attend to for a few days; I’ll be back soon,” Quan Jingwu raised his head to meet her dark eyes, as black as midnight, and explained.
“By yourself?” she asked.
Quan Jingwu, “Yi Kai will be with me.”
Jian Qing hummed in acknowledgment, hesitated for a moment, then said, “Do you need me to pack your luggage?”
Quan Jingwu couldn’t help but chuckle, suddenly looking amused, “Sure.”
“How many sets do you need?” Jian Qing didn’t understand his excitement and inquired.
“Two or three sets should be enough.”
As he spoke, he sat up, watching her back, the corners of his lips slightly lifted.
Jian Qing opened the wardrobe, which was filled with men’s clothing; she suddenly remembered something and turned to look at the man sitting on the couch.
“Do you need to beat someone up?”
The unexpected question made Quan Jingwu let out a light chuckle.
He got up and walked over, leaning against the wardrobe, “I do.”
Jian Qing uttered an ‘oh’, somewhat understanding what kind of clothing to pick.
Quan Jingwu took out a large backpack, and Jian Qing selected three sets of clothing, folding each carefully and placing them inside the backpack.
“Sweetheart, it seems like we’re still missing something,” Quan Jingwu glanced at the backpack, leisurely watching her, “What do you think?”
Jian Qing’s fair face instantly flushed red; her fingertips tugging at the zipper hesitated, caught in an awkward predicament.
Quan Jingwu stepped forward, embracing her from behind, his voice teasing, “What’s the matter, shy now?”
“Who’s shy.” Jian Qing pushed him away, internally frantic but still trying to maintain a calm facade on the surface, “It’s just underwear. You’ve been standing here the whole time, blocking my path, how was I supposed to get it.”
“Really?” Quan Jingwu inserted his hands into his pockets and smirked teasingly.
Jian Qing straightened her back, “Of course.”
Quan Jingwu laughed and made a gesture of invitation, “Then please, my dear wife.”
“Good that you know you’re being troublesome,” Jian Qing strode past him with an air of gallantry, pulling open another wardrobe door and the drawer that housed the undergarments.
Under the scorching gaze of the gentleman, Jian Qing’s hand trembled slightly as she opened the drawer.
The drawer was filled with neatly folded underwear.
After a quick glance, she randomly grabbed a handful, then calmly closed the drawer and returned to his side, stuffing the underwear into the backpack in one swift motion, without affording a second glance.
“There, done.”
Quan Jingwu grabbed the backpack and flung it into the corner.
“What are you doing, don’t you need to pack anything else?” Jian Qing looked toward the backpack in the corner and then back at him.
Quan Jingwu stretched his arms around her, touching his forehead to hers, “If it’s about packing you up, I might consider it.”
Jian Qing raised an eyebrow, “Is there a reward?”
“What if I offer myself as the reward?”
The magnetic voice grew deeper, turning one’s ears soft.
“No thanks,” she said with a smile.
Quan Jingwu’s violet eyes deepened as he suddenly scooped her up, and Jian Qing’s hands instinctively wrapped around his neck.
“When I’m not around, you’d better remember to miss me,” he demanded overbearingly.
Jian Qing held back a laugh, “I’ll try to squeeze in some time to miss you if I can spare it.”
“You dare.”
Before his words could settle, his gentle kiss followed.
Jian Qing blinked, unable to conceal her surprise.
Her long lashes trembled slightly like a mini fan sweeping across his violet eyes, momentarily short-circuiting his brain.
Quan Jingwu’s gaze was filled with amusement, while his gentle kisses turned fervently passionate.
Gradually, the sound of rain outside the window faded from her ears, leaving only the man’s deep and husky voice.
…
F Country
The sky was a brilliant blue, flocks of pigeons flying overhead.
The well-guarded Fortress, still as death.
“Bang—”
Suddenly, the sound of something being slammed came from the second floor.
The cleaning servants jumped with fright, glancing quickly upstairs before bowing their heads and returning to their tasks at hand.
Inside the Study Room, the floor was a mess.
Precious antique vases and calligraphy lay scattered, a sight to mourn.
Ada stood by, silently observing the chaos on the floor.
After slamming objects and venting his rage, Shen Hua settled back into the leather chair, eyes dark and brooding as he looked over the destruction below him.
“Where is Shen Yan now?”
“The young master has returned to the island,” Ada replied.
“Is A’er with him?”
“No.”
Shen Hua’s expression darkened like ink, “Where is he?”
“In, in F Country.”
“Bring him to me,” Shen Hua ordered fiercely.
Ada abruptly looked up, “Master, if we capture A’er, about the young master…”
“Never mind him. If he wants his man, let him come begging to me,” Shen Hua said sharply, “That double-crossing dog, A’er, I’ve tolerated him for far too long.”
Ada reluctantly nodded, “Yes.”
Shen Hua leaned back, his hand massaging his temples, “Where are those captives?”
“I’ve had them locked up at our base. These guys sure are tight-lipped; despite our numerous interrogations, we can’t get them to talk,” Ada said coldly.
A chill flickered in Shen Hua’s eyes, “Use every method to make them talk, and if they’re still stubborn by tomorrow, dispose of them without exception.”
The people they had captured were from China; if they weren’t dealt with swiftly, further complications would inevitably arise.
“Understood.”
“How much did we lose in this trade?” Shen Hua clenched his fist, his veins throbbing.
“Part of the goods were intercepted by Yi Kai’s men, the buyers are claiming we breached the contract, and we haven’t been able to come to an agreement with them yet. According to the contract, if we fail to deliver all the goods on schedule, we will have to compensate them with triple the worth of this batch,” Ada explained slowly.
“Also, our trading location has been discovered by their people, and they are relentlessly closing in on us. We cannot continue to trade here, or if we are caught, the consequences would be even more damaging.”
At hearing the latter, the aura emanating from Shen Hua became frighteningly menacing.
