Chapter 909: 895, still not rolling out quickly (3) Chapter 909: 895, still not rolling out quickly (3) “How much red envelope money do you plan to give us two matchmakers when the time comes?” Jian Luo asked with a smile, sipping tea.
“Whatever amount you say,” Bai Jue declared magnanimously.
As long as he could win his wife back, the red packet wasn’t an issue.
“Deal, that’s your word.” Jian Luo said.
“Why hasn’t this plane arrived yet? I can’t stand it, I need to make a call to hurry them along.” Bai Jue glanced at the time, his brow furrowed.
He pulled out his phone and made a call, the corners of Jian Qing’s mouth twitching.
“Bai Jue, are you really going to get the airplane to come?”
“Of course, if you’re putting on a show, you’ve got to do the full act.” Having said that, Bai Jue walked aside to take the call.
If he showed any gaps halfway through, not to mention chasing his wife back, she might end up hating him.
“Sis, just let him be. Otherwise, if he can’t chase her back in a day, he’ll just come and nag beside my ear until my earlobe grows calluses.” Jian Luo cuddled back to her computer, continuing to process documents.
Jian Qing chuckled lightly, “When are you going to Y Country?”
“Depends on my mood.” Jian Luo said languidly, enjoying ice cream here with no one to control him; going to Y Country wouldn’t allow him such freedom to snack.
“By the way, why didn’t seventeen and the others come with you?”
“With Xiaojing playing in the Game Room, it’s too hot outside, it’s better to stay home.” Jian Qing said.
The two chatted idly, and after a while, the sound of a plane landing could be heard from outside.
“Mingyan is here, I’ll go hide in the room first. I’ll leave this to you guys.” Bai Jue rushed in hurriedly, darted that statement, and ran into the adjacent guest room.
Jian Qing and Jian Luo exchanged a look and stood up simultaneously.
“Jian Qing!”
The voice of Zhan Mingyan came from outside, and the next second, her figure appeared at the door.
“Jian Qing, did something happen? Why is there a plane parked on the open space outside?” She jogged inside, panting.
Jian Qing watched her come in sweating profusely and handed her a tissue, “Mingyan, there’s something I think you ought to know.”
“Jian Qing, what on earth happened?” Zhan Mingyan couldn’t bother to wipe the sweat, her gaze fixing on Jian Qing’s unusual seriousness, and she couldn’t help but feel a little panicked.
“Mingyan, something has happened to Bai Jue,” Jian Luo said with a heavy voice.
There was a thunderous boom in Zhan Mingyan’s mind, leaving a blank, like a bolt from the blue, her whole body numb.
She stood with her mouth slightly open, unable to speak for a long time. After a while, she found her voice again, “What did you say?”
How could he be in an accident, didn’t he tell her that he went to M Country?
“Bai Jue was in an accident in M Country; his plane experienced a malfunction and crashed. Now his life and death are uncertain,” Jian Luo spoke, her face steeped in sorrow, “My sister and I are rushing back to M Country now, the plane outside has come to pick us up.”
“It can’t be, it can’t be, that’s impossible, I don’t believe it.” In an instant, her heart felt as if it were filled with cold lead, sinking.
She staggered and stepped back, “He said he’d be back in a few days after dealing with something in M Country, how could something possibly happen to him, I don’t believe it.”
“Mingyan, you” Jian Qing looked at her bewildered appearance, felt a hint of pity, and then thought that it’s better to get over a pain quickly rather than let it drag on, so she still suppressed the urge to blurt out the truth.
“Jian Qing, tell me, he’s not in trouble, right?” Zhan Mingyan stepped forward, seizing her hand, and asked with sobs, “He’ll be back soon, right? You were just joking with me just now, weren’t you?”
“Mingyan, calm down. Bai Jue indeed had an accident.” Jian Qing turned away, the words she uttered making Zhan Mingyan’s breath hitch.
Her arms dropped, legs went weak, and she squatted down, biting her fist tightly, trying her best to restrain her tears.
In the end, she couldn’t hold back, and a string of tears slid down her face, “How could he be in trouble? He said he would be back soon. Bai Jue, you liar, how could you go back on your word, how could you not keep your promise.”
Jian Luo cast his eyes down at her tear-streaked face, feeling a faint sense of guilt.
Jian Qing squatted down and gently patted her on the shoulder, “Mingyan.”
“Jian Qing, his necklace is still with me. How could he be in trouble? He said as long as I forgave him, he would always be waiting for me with his ring. How could he lie to me?” Zhan Mingyan took out the necklace from her pocket, her shoulders shaking as she cried uncontrollably, “Look, the necklace is here, Jian Qing. Can you help me bring him back? I’m not angry with him anymore, I don’t want anything to happen to him, can you help me, please?”
As long as he returned, she wouldn’t be angry with him anymore. She just wanted him to be safe and appear before her, and she would never drive him away again.
Jian Qing, seeing her tear-reddened face, couldn’t help but curse Bai Jue a few times in her heart, “Mingyan, be calm. He’ll be fine. We will definitely bring him back.”
Separated by a door, Bai Jue clearly heard the woman’s crying. He clenched his fists, forcing himself to resist the impulse to burst out.
Yanyan, I’m sorry, just this once. From now on, I’ll never lie to you again.
Just this once!
Zhan Mingyan lowered her head, the shiny teardrops continuously falling onto the cold marble floor. “It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have always driven him away. Jian Qing, can you help me bring him back, please? I beg you, I still have so much to tell him, I just can’t let go of him. I regret it. I shouldn’t have repeatedly said I wanted to return his necklace to him.”
Jian Luo glanced covertly at the closed door of the guestroom, then shifted his gaze to Zhan Mingyan, and couldn’t help but recall his past with Black Jack.
Love, what a tormenting thing!
“Jian Qing, can you take me to M Country? I need to find him. I haven’t told him in person that I like him. He has rejected my confessions twice; he can’t reject me a third time,” Zhan Mingyan clutched Jian Qing’s hand, her eyes red from crying, “I like him, I really do!”
“Well, you should tell him your confession in person,” Jian Qing’s lips curled, and a hint of warmth emerged in her icy eyes.
“Now hurry up and get out here and comfort her.”
Meeting the smile in her eyes, Zhan Mingyan froze for a moment, not yet registering what was happening, when suddenly the door of the nearby guest room flew open.
The man’s long legs entered her vision, and she dumbly looked up to see the face that haunted her dreams breaking into her line of sight.
Jian Qing stood up and moved beside Jian Luo.
“Zhan Mingyan, I heard every word you just said. You can’t deny it now,” Bai Jue squatted in front of her, his magnetic voice gently speaking.
“We’ll leave the rest to you two, we’re taking off.” Jian Luo grabbed the laptop and car keys, and along with Jian Qing, made themselves scarce.
By this point, even if Zhan Mingyan was slow to catch on, she realized what was happening. She had been played.
Her tears still wet on her face, she wiped them away haphazardly, pushed him away, and stood up abruptly, “Bai Jue, you lied to me?”
“Mingyan, let me explain,” Bai Jue got up from the floor, trying to reach for her hand, but she evaded him.
“I’m not listening, Bai Jue, you bastard,” Zhan Mingyan said through clenched teeth, her tears inexplicably unstoppable.
