Chapter 866: 852, Shameless to the Extreme (3) Chapter 866: 852, Shameless to the Extreme (3) “Then I’ll help you.” As he spoke, Bai Jue picked up the scissors and a flower, examining the sharp thorns and green leaves at the root, pondering where to begin.

“Do you even know how?” Zhan Mingyan looked at his clueless demeanor with disdain, “If you don’t know how, you should leave now rather than ruining my flowers.”

“If you teach me, I will know how,” Bai Jue said as he inched closer to her.

“Wait, stay away from me,” Zhan Mingyan commanded, holding the scissors with the sharp blade pointed at him as a warning, “Stay a meter away from me.”

Bai Jue lowered his gaze to glance at the scissors, his thin lips curling up slightly, “Standing so far away, how can you teach me? I need to stand closer to see clearly.”

“Cut the chatter and stay away,” Zhan Mingyan ordered while gesturing with the scissors.

“Yanyan, how could you point scissors at someone like that, what if you hurt him?” Lu Hui’s voice came from not far away.

Zhan Mingyan, “…”

With one look, she confirmed that this was indeed Bai Jue’s mother.

Bai Jue let out a soft chuckle, brazenly moving even closer to Zhan Mingyan, completely disregarding the sharp tip of the scissors as he bumped right into them.

“You…”

Zhan Mingyan was startled, her wrist twisting to retract the scissors.

“You’re crazy, this is dangerous.”

Seeing her looking all puffed up with anger, a laugh danced in Bai Jue’s eyes as he shook the flower in his hand, “Can you teach me now?”

Zhan Mingyan huffed lightly and, ignoring him, picked up a flower stem and focused on pruning, while Bai Jue stuck by her side, imitating her actions as he started to prune the sharp thorns from the stem.

On the sofa, Lu Hui watched the two from behind with a knowing smile.

She hadn’t failed to notice some tension between her daughter and Bai Jue, but she could also see that her daughter liked Bai Jue; the emotions she showed around Bai Jue were never visible in front of He Min.

Moreover, Bai Jue was more to her liking than He Min, a better match for her daughter—after all, who her daughter liked was what mattered the most.

During the flower pruning, the two spent a rare, harmonious hour together.

After packaging the bouquets pre-ordered by the customers, Zhan Mingyan stretched out lazily, loosening her slightly sore shoulders.

Suddenly thinking of something, she turned her eyes to the person next to her, inadvertently meeting the man’s deep gaze; she coughed lightly to cover her discomfort.

“Alright, thank you for today, you can go now.”

“Where are you going later? I’ll take you,” Bai Jue offered.

Zhan Mingyan replied, “No need, I’m going back with my mom later.”

Overhearing their conversation, Lu Hui couldn’t stay put and quickly walked over, “Yanyan, Bai Jue bought you breakfast and has been helping you out for so long; at the very least, we should invite him to a meal.”

“Mom, it’s not necessary, he has other things to do,” Zhan Mingyan said helplessly.

Hearing this, Lu Hui turned to Bai Jue and asked, “Bai Jue, do you have plans later?”

Bai Jue glanced sideways at Zhan Mingyan and, seeing the warning look she was giving him, smiled faintly, “No, I came to Beijing just to relax, there’s nothing busy I need to attend to; Auntie, you can call me anytime if there’s anything.”

Zhan Mingyan choked back a breath, furious.

This guy was utterly shameless.

Lu Hui settled the matter decisively, “Then it’s settled. Bai Jue, come with us later. Yanyan’s dad won’t be coming home for lunch today; it’ll be more lively with you around.”

“Then I’ll trouble Auntie,” Bai Jue said with a beaming smile.

“Not at all, not at all,” Lu Hui replied.

Zhan Mingyan gave him a glance and huffed coldly.

His skin is almost thicker than the walls of our house.

“Black Jack, hurry up, Seventeen is getting sleepy,” Jian Luo said, sitting on the sofa and helping Seventeen into his little jacket.

Although it was summer, the night breeze was still somewhat cool, so the toddlers’ coats could not be neglected. If they caught a cold, he wouldn’t know how to explain it to his sister and Quan Jingwu.

Early that day, Jian Luo had gone with Black Jack to the old mansion to pick up Seventeen and Nineteen for an outing. Now, both toddlers were sleepy and he planned to take them back to the old mansion.

“Here we come.” Black Jack came downstairs carrying Nineteen, whose chubby little face was nestled on his shoulder, sleeping soundly.

“Hasn’t Nineteen woken up yet?” Jian Luo asked, walking over with Seventeen in his arms.

Black Jack shook his head. “Let it be, I’ll just carry him back like this to avoid him getting cranky from waking up.”

There was no other way. Jian Luo looked at Seventeen, who was drowsy in his arms, and pulled the hood of his clothes over his head.

“Let’s go.” Black Jack picked up the car keys and walked out with Nineteen, with Jian Luo slowly following by his side.

On the way, Seventeen and Nineteen slept snugly in Jian Luo’s arms, their heads touching. Black Jack slowed the car down to avoid any bumps.

Jian Luo looked at the two little ones in his arms, shifted his gaze, and wrapped his long arm around the toddlers to free his hand to take out his phone, opened the camera app, and took a selfie with the two.

Then he sent the photo to Jian Qing.

A “ding” sounded, and Jian Qing sent a video call request.

Jian Luo pressed accept, and as the video flickered, Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing’s faces appeared in the frame.

“Sis!”

On the other end of the video, Jian Qing’s heart melted at the sight of her two little ones’ chubby faces, wishing she could immediately embrace them and give them a kiss.

Beside her, Quan Jingwu’s lips slightly curved with unwonted tenderness in his cold eyes as he looked at the toddlers’ sleeping faces.

“Luoluo, did you take them out for fun today?” Jian Qing asked in a hushed voice, careful not to wake the little ones.

“Yeah, Black Jack and I took them to the zoo. We just got back to Shijin Haoting and Nineteen fell asleep, and Seventeen just dozed off not long ago. We’re about to take them back to the mansion,” Jian Luo replied.

Quan Jingwu asked in a deep voice, “Have they eaten?”

Jian Luo rolled his eyes at him, “I’m surprised, I thought you didn’t want your sons anymore. You haven’t come to see them in so many days.”

As if hearing their parents’ voices, Nineteen’s brow wrinkled, and his curled lashes trembled gently.

The next second, he lifted his chubby little hand and rubbed his eyes, his clear purple eyes filled with the daze of just waking up.

“Nineteen!” Jian Qing called out softly upon seeing Nineteen’s adorable wake-up moment.

Suddenly energized by the sight of Jian Qing in the video, Nineteen pointed his little finger at the phone and mumbled gibberish.

Mommy, Nineteen’s mommy, and daddy!

Separated by the cold screen, long without Jian Qing’s embrace, Nineteen’s little mouth turned downward, eyes quickly gathering mist.

The next moment, tears dripped down like tiny gold beads, yet he didn’t make a sound of crying.

Little did he know, this sight was breaking Jian Qing’s heart. She quickly soothed him, “Nineteen, don’t cry, okay? Mommy will be back soon, and when I return, I’ll hold Nineteen, buy him toys and treats. Don’t cry, okay? Daddy will play with Nineteen and lift you high when he gets back, alright?”

Nineteen shook his little head and stretched out his fair little hand toward Jian Qing, waiting to be held.
