Chapter 819: 805, a group of drunk cats (1) Chapter 819: 805, a group of drunk cats (1) “Do we have any?” Quan Yifei scratched her head, “Where is it?”
“In the kitchen.” Quan Mingxuan answered without hesitation.
Quan Yifei gave an “Oh,” and walked toward the kitchen.
Seeing her leave, Quan Mingxuan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Bai Jue almost caused absolute chaos.
Meanwhile, Han Yue led Bai Jue over to Jian Qing and casually took a seat.
Upon seeing Bai Jue come over, Zhan Mingyan tried to shrink her presence, looking for an opportunity to escape the spot.
“Xiya, let’s go check on Seventeen and Nineteen.” It seemed odd to leave alone, so she pulled Xiya along with her.
Xiya was aware of the issue between Zhan Mingyan and Bai Jue, and seeing through Zhan Mingyan’s intentions, a knowing smile flickered in her eyes as she got up to check on the kids with her.
As Zhan Mingyan passed by Bai Jue, she quickened her pace without glancing his way, Bai Jue lifted his gaze and watched her, his eyes darkening.
He wasn’t blind. Zhan Mingyan was clearly avoiding him on purpose. Just because he had rejected her confession, they couldn’t be lovers, but does that mean they couldn’t be friends?
The full moon celebration started, and once the two little ones had their milk, they fell asleep. The two babies were fast asleep in their cribs as everyone noisily celebrated their first month.
Having gained two great-grandchildren, Grandpa Quan was overjoyed, breaking out wine that he had treasured for many years to drink with Grandpa Jian. They called it a modest drink, but by the end, both men were quite drunk, their wrinkled faces flushed with a tipsy glow.
“Drink up, Old Quan, keep it going.” Grandpa Jian had his hand on Grandpa Quan’s shoulder, both staggering unsteadily.
“Hic… alright, let’s keep drinking.” Grandpa Quan, also quite drunk, burped and, with one hand on Grandpa Jian’s shoulder, waved the other through the air.
Seeing the rare drunken state of the two elders, Jian Qing and the others couldn’t help but laugh.
However, they weren’t the only ones drunk; Mo Xiao, Quan Hao, and a few other men were also drunk, slumped over the tables, clearly almost unconscious.
Jian Luo glanced at Mo Xiao, shook her head silently, and pulled him up, “Dad, it’s time to go home.”
“Go where? I can still… hic… keep drinking.” Mo Xiao, his full weight leaning on Jian Luo, half-closed his eyes and looked towards Quan Hao, nudging him.
“Ahao, get up and drink more, drink…”
“Dad, stop drinking, you’re getting as bad as a drunk cat.” Jian Luo pulled back his hand and complained.
“I’ve got this, you go get the car.” Black Jack came over, took Mo Xiao from her, and turned to Jian Luo.
Among the men there, only Jian Luo hadn’t drunk. The others had all had quite a bit, just not as unrestrainedly as Mo Xiao and the rest.
“Good girl, I’ll help Grandpa into the car, you go upstairs and check on Seventeen and Nineteen.” Quan Jingwu took Grandpa Jian and glanced at his watch, guessing that it was almost time for the two little ones to wake up. If they woke and found no one there, they would likely make a fuss.
Jian Qing nodded lightly and gently reminded, “Remember to tell Luoluo to prepare some sobering tea for Grandpa and Dad when he gets back.”
“Mhm.”
Quan Jingwu, supporting Grandpa Jian, had to constantly turn back as Grandpa Jian wanted to find Grandpa Quan to continue drinking, which made it quite difficult for Quan Jingwu to finally get him into the car.
“Bai Jue, are you leaving? I can give you a lift on my way.” Han Yue rubbed his brow, having had too much to drink the previous night and a bit more at noon, he felt somewhat uncomfortable.
Bai Jue glanced at him, “Forget it, with you this drunk and still offering me a ride, I’d be afraid of ending up going to King Yama for tea. I’ll drive you instead.”
Hearing this, Han Yue didn’t refuse, and nodded his head.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Bai Jue had just taken a step when, from the corner of his eye, he caught sight of Zhan Mingyan standing with Xiya. His eyes flickered slightly, “Xiya, let me give you two a ride on the way.”
“Okay,” Xiya replied.
Of course, getting a ride was definitely a good thing.
“Um, Xiya, why don’t you go with them? I’ll have someone come pick me up,” Zhan Mingyan said politely, refusing the ride upon hearing that she would be in the same car as Bai Jue.
“Oh, come on. Just think of it as taking a taxi,” Xiya whispered persuasively, hooking her arm around Zhan Mingyan’s shoulder.
Feeling slightly conflicted, Zhan Mingyan looked up and met Bai Jue’s gaze. Her eyes flickered and she averted her gaze subtly.
“Let’s go.”
After all, any more refusals would just make her seem guilty. Just as Xiya had said, she might as well take the ride like catching a lift.
“Bai Jue, go start the car,” Xiya said to Bai Jue, pulling Zhan Mingyan to walk outside.
One after another, the guests began to leave, and the servants hurried to tidy up the mess in the dining hall.
“Amo, Axuan, quickly take your Grandpa and Ache back to their rooms.” Quan’s grandmother looked at her son and grandson, who were as limp as drunk cats, and turned to command Quan Yimo and the others. She then turned around to join Weng Ya in making sobering soup.
Upstairs, Jian Qing pushed open the door to the bedroom, and before she could approach the crib, she heard the babies’ “giggling” laughter.
She walked over to the side of the crib and looked down to see two little ones snuggled together, laughing foolishly at each other.
She smiled, completely oblivious to the unique communication between the two little treasures. She reached out to touch their small faces and softly called out, “Seventeen, Nineteen.”
Upon hearing their mommy calling them, the two little treasures looked up at Jian Qing with their clear eyes, their long lashes fluttering adorably, melting Jian Qing’s heart.
Nineteen waved his chubby little fists, howling at Jian Qing as if asking to be held by her.
Jian Qing didn’t disappoint him, bending down to pick him up and kissing his forehead, “Nineteen, are you hungry, huh?”
“Wah wah…” Seeing his younger brother in mommy’s arms, receiving kisses no less, Seventeen lying in the crib felt aggrieved, crying out loud for attention.
The baby wanted to be held too, he wanted mommy’s kisses as well.
Jian Qing looked down at him, chuckling softly at the wistful expression on his little face, freeing one hand to pick him up.
With a baby in each arm, her movements were a bit stiff.
Handling one baby was within her means, but holding two was quite a challenge. As Jian Qing was worrying about it, Quan Jingwu pushed the door open and came in.
The moment he entered, seeing his wife struggling to hold the two little ones, he frowned and quickly walked over.
“Why did you pick them both up?”
As he spoke, he reached out and took Seventeen from her arms.
Jian Qing gave a helpless smile, “Both of them wanted to be held.”
If she held one, the other who was not held would become jealous and cry.
Quan Jingwu gently rocked Seventeen, then placed him back in the crib, “I’ll go change my clothes and then make them some milk.”
He couldn’t stand the smell of alcohol on himself, let alone his two little treasures who had the same aversion to uncleanliness as he.
Jian Qing hummed in acknowledgment and placed Nineteen back in the crib, “Then I’ll go get your clothes for you.”
