Zhan Mingyan carefully gripped the edge of his clothes, a touch of embarrassment flashed in her eyes.

Bai Jue glanced down at the edge of his clothes she was holding and a playful smile appeared on his lips.

“Sit tight.”

He twisted the handle and the heavy motorcycle shot out like an arrow.

Zhan Mingyan only felt a strong wind brushing against her cheeks. Her eyes were filled with excitement as her heart raced.

The heavy motorcycle galloped through the bustling city. Bai Jue didn’t slow down, causing the surrounding drivers to be alarmed by his high speed and to constantly complain.

“This guy’s crazy, driving so fast, is he rushing to reincarnate?”

“Exactly, isn’t he afraid of getting a ticket?”

“Must be insane, this person.”

Amidst the onslaught of swearing, Zhan Mingyan couldn’t help but smile.

“Zhan Mingyan, hold on tight. If you fall off later, I’m not taking responsibility.” Bai Jue’s voice, tinged with amusement, echoed in the wind.

Before his words had even fallen, the already incredibly fast motorcycle shot forward at its utmost speed. The loud roar of the engine reverberated arrogantly in the open air.

“Ah!”

Zhan Mingyan was startled, her hands that were holding his clothes instinctively hugged his waist, instantly closing the distance between them.

Upon hearing her scream, Bai Jue laughed heartily.

“Zhan Mingyan, exhilarating, isn’t it?”

Zhan Mingyan clung to him tightly, thankful for the helmet blocking the fierce wind. Otherwise, she feared her eyes would be forced shut by the wind.

“Bai Jue, why are you driving so fast?” she shouted.

Bai Jue responded, “Haven’t you never experienced the thrill of racing? Don’t worry, I won’t let you fall. Open your eyes and take in the scenery.”

His deep voice gradually eased her apprehensions.

Zhan Mingyan opened her eyes, her face blossoming into a radiant smile as she took in the retreating scenery.

So, this is what racing feels like.

No denying it – it’s exhilarating!

Seeing her smiling face through the rearview mirror, Bai Jue chuckled to himself.

After a long ride, Zhan Mingyan began to get the hang of the adrenaline rush.

She looked up at the back of Bai Jue’s head. Unconsciously, her hands tightened around his waist. Her heart was warm.

Hugging him from behind, this is what it feels like.

For a moment, she felt as if she had the whole world.

In the end, she couldn’t let go of him. Every time she saw him, her gaze would unintentionally follow him.

When she saw him with other women, jealousy crept in.

Bai Jue, what should I do with you?

“Zhan Mingyan, scared silly? Why are you silent?” Bai Jue noticed her prolonged silence and teased her.

This time, Zhan Mingyan didn’t tease back, instead she responded softly. “Bai Jue, thank you.”

“Let me think, is this the first or second time you’ve thanked me?” Bai Jue joked again.

“Seems like I’m indeed, quite a gentleman.”

Zhan Mingyan chuckled, “Enough with your self-praise, one compliment and you think you’re invincible.”

Bai Jue’s eyes sparkled, his lips curved into a dangerous smile, “Zhan Mingyan, do you know what real racing is?”

“What do you mean?” Zhan Mingyan was puzzled.

Bai Jue didn’t answer, “Hold on tight.”

Before she could respond, the motorcycle lurched to one side. She suddenly felt a loss of balance, as if she was going to fall off.

“Ah! Bai Jue, what are you doing?”

She screamed, clinging desperately to him.

Bai Jue laughed carelessly, “I’m taking you racing.”

No sooner did his voice die away than the motorcycle again tilted to a different direction. The sensation of weightlessness startled Zhan Mingyan into a string of screams.

“Ah! Bai Jue you’re mad!”

Not until her voice had worn out from screaming did Zhan Mingyan stop being so frightened. Gradually, she started to relax, immersing herself in the near-death thrill of the ride.

Terrifying, crazy, yet addicting.

It was fortunate that they were in the suburbs. Otherwise, with such a speed, Bai Jue would have instantly attracted traffic police and they would have been taken in.

The last blush of twilight disappeared over the horizon, the night sky filled with twinkling stars.

On the bridge, Bai Jue placed one foot on the ground, the engine sound fading.

“Get off.”

With their initial physical contact out of the way, Zhan Mingyan was no longer shy. Placing her hands on his shoulders, she hopped off the motorcycle.

She removed her helmet and handed it to Bai Jue, “For you.”

Bai Jue got off the motorcycle, took the helmet, and casually hung it on the bike.

Beneath the bridge, the traffic flew by and the streetlights mingled with the neon lights, illuminating the bustling city.

Zhan Mingyan put her hands on the railing, looked over at Bai Jue with a smile, “Bai Jue, thank you for today.”

Bai Jue crossed his arms, “This seems to be the second ‘thank you’ you’ve said to me today.”

“What’s the matter, does it feel strange to hear me say thank you?” Zhan Mingyan chirped playfully.

“Definitely, considering how rude you used to be back on Solak Island.” Remembering their early days of acquaintance, Bai Jue laughed softly.

“That’s because you were so spiteful.” Zhan Mingyan retorted disgruntledly.

It was always him bullying her. He was always so mean, and she could never win their banter.

Bai Jue denied adamantly, “Was I?”

Zhan Mingyan retorted, “Of course!”

They bantered back and forth, getting along quite well.

Suddenly, Zhan Mingyan turned her gaze to his profile. A pang of hesitation flashed in her eyes.

Zhan Mingyan, what are you still hesitating about?

If you can’t let go, why not give it another try? The worst that could happen is another rejection.

However, could she truly hope for two parallel lines to intersect?

“Bai Jue!” She mustered the courage to call out.

“Hmm?” Bai Jue was gazing out at the view, not noticing her nervous look.

“Bai Jue, what do you think of me?” She ventured cautiously.

“You have a flat figure, your looks are barely passable, sometimes you’re a bit snarky…” Bai Jue began to list out.

Zhan Mingyan’s face turned red, clearly infuriated by him.

“Shut up.”

Bai Jue stopped, looking at her flushed face innocently, “Didn’t you ask for my opinion?”

“I didn’t ask you to critique me!” Zhan Mingyan roared.

Bai Jue, amused by her reaction, burst into laughter. “Alright, I’m joking. You’re great, okay?”

Zhan Mingyan glared at him. His jest had diffused some of her tension.

“Bai Jue, there’s something I’m not joking about.”

The ‘I love you’ she had told him at the seaside was sincere all along, even if he had rejected her.

“What?” Bai Jue looked at her puzzled, “Zhan Mingyan, you’re acting a bit strange today.”
