Chapter 713: 699, Can’t Refund Me (1)_1 Chapter 713: 699, Can’t Refund Me (1)_1 Only at the sight of the juicy strawberries on the table did Xiya managed to curb her anger. She plopped down on the couch, picking up a fork and skewering a strawberry, her mood evidently better.

She was enjoying the strawberries and simultaneously texting Jian Qing on her phone.

“Maomao, smile for me,” Khan cooed to Maomao he was holding, gently rocking her. He caught a glimpse of Xiya engrossed in her phone and a lightbulb went on in his head.

He walked over to the baby crib, lowering Maomao inside, “Be good, Maomao. Daddy will play with you in a bit.”

After saying that, he gently stroked Maomao’s soft face, then turned to sit next to Xiya.

Xiya was deeply engaged in her conversation with Jian Qing and didn’t notice Khan’s approach.

“Jian, you’re making fun of me again!”

She mumbled to herself, her fingertips busily typing on her phone.

Suddenly, she felt a weight on her shoulder, turning her head to see a large, slender hand resting on it.

Darker emotions flitted through Xiya’s emerald eyes as she suppressed her inner fury. “Khan, you have one second to remove your chicken claw.”

Freaking hell.

Daring to rub off on her, is he too damn slippery?

Khan acted as if he hadn’t heard her, his strong arm still resting firmly on her shoulder. His eyes met hers, fiery with indignation.

“Xiya, can we talk about something?”

His earnest tone caught the words of her retort in her throat.

“Are you out of your mind today?” she blurted out.

That one sentence shattered the serious atmosphere he had been trying so hard to create.

“…”

A smirk tugged at the corner of Khan’s lips, his eyes revealing a touch of resignation.

“Enough of that, don’t you know how to maintain a proper distance between a man and woman?” Xiya threw him a disgruntled look, took two fingers to pinch Khan’s hand away, then tossed it aside.

“Stop taking advantage of me, or I’m taking Maomao back to my own place.”

Hearing Xiya refer to herself as “me” and insisting on distance between a man and a woman caused Khan to shake his head and laugh lightly.

“Say what you have to say.” Xiya shifted sideways to further distance herself from him.

However, each time she shifted away, Khan moved closer.

Just as Xiya noticed that she had moved to edge of the couch and had no more room to back away, she glared at him, “What are you trying to do, always sticking so close to me?”

With so many other places to sit, he just had to cling to her?

Is he asking for a beating?

“Let’s talk.” Khan held her wrist, pulling her towards him with a bit of skill, so that she wouldn’t accidentally fall off the couch.

“Let go.” Xiya gave a sideways glare at the salty pig’s hand clutching her wrist, her emerald eyes showing clear hostility.

“First let go, or there’s nothing to talk about.”

Upon hearing this, Khan reluctantly let go, and Xiya immediately pulled her hand back.

“You have two minutes. Don’t interrupt my chat with Jian.”

Khan looked deeply into her eyes, and unexpectedly steadied her face with his hands, staring at his own reflection in her emerald eyes, he smiled contentedly.

“Xiya, let’s get married!”

His sincere tone stunned Xiya; she was at a loss for words.

“Wha-what?” She was so shocked that she was tongue-tied.

Did she just have aural hallucinations?

He actually uttered the words “get married,” she didn’t mishear, did she?

Khan looked at her bewildered expression and chuckled, repeating, “Xiya, marry me. Give me, and Maomao a complete family, okay?”

During these past few weeks, he had grown accustomed to having her and their precious daughter with him. He couldn’t imagine what he would be like if he lost them.

But he did know that without them, his world would become gloomy, rendering him lifeless.

Xiya finally regained her senses, brushing off his hands. Standing up abruptly, almost not bothering with her slippers, she took a few steps back.

“Khan, that’s not a funny joke.” She managed to say.

Khan also got up, his gaze firmly on her, “Xiya, you know I’m not joking. I want to build a happy family with you and our Maomao, a family that is just the three of us.”

Meeting his intense gaze, Xiya quickly averted her eyes, stuttering subtly, “Khan, I haven’t thought about marriage.”

Yes, she had forgiven him, but she hadn’t given thought to marriage. Regardless of Maomao, even if she were alone, she was totally capable of raising her.

Moreover, their current living arrangement of the three of them under the same roof is great. There was no need to get married.

In short, she had a fear of marriage.

The entire concept of marriage had never crossed her mind in her life thus far.

Khan stepped forward, “You didn’t think about it before, now you can. I can wait, as long as you are willing to take the first step.”

He didn’t mind waiting for her, but he was afraid she wouldn’t even give him a chance to wait.

Xiya scratched her head, feeling a bit dizzy looking at the sincerity in his eyes. “Khan, actually our current relationship is fine. You get to see Maomao all the time. I won’t run away with her. You can see her every day.”

Khan’s eyes darkened a touch, “Do you think I proposed marriage only because of Maomao?”

“No matter why, Khan, I really haven’t thought about marriage.” Hearing his deep voice, Xiya lowered her head and murmured softly.

Khan looked at the woman with her head bowed across from him and remained silent for a moment. He then crossed the space between them in a few long strides.

“If you didn’t think about it before, at least think about it for me now, okay?”

His deep, husky voice carried a hint of desperate plea.

“You…” Xiya looked up to see Khan, but found herself unable to utter her harsh words.

As if remembering something, Khan suddenly left her, rushing upstairs, “Wait for me here.”

As soon as he went upstairs, Xiya let out a sigh of relief.

She slapped her cheeks, then shook her head vigorously.

Xiya, pull yourself together.

Getting married is a big deal. Can’t be rash about it.

It didn’t take long before the sound of quick footsteps echoed from the stairwell.

Xiya turned her head and the man was already in front of her in a blink.

“Xiya, take this.”

Perhaps running too fast, Khan huffed a bit and shoved a file bag into her hand.

Xiya looked down at the file bag in her hand. It was heavy.

“What is this?”

“It’s the deed of transfer for all my assets.” Khan replied.

At his words, Xiya felt like she was holding a hot potato and immediately tried to give it back to him. “What are you giving this to me for, take it back.”

Khan didn’t take it back. He pushed it into her arms.

Then he said, “This is the bride price, you can’t give it back.”

Looking at the file bag that was forced upon her, Xiya was speechless, “I haven’t agreed to marry you, why are you giving me the bride price?”
