Chapter 698: 684, In the Bathroom or Outside the Window (2)_1 Chapter 698: 684, In the Bathroom or Outside the Window (2)_1 “If you don’t come down for dinner soon, Grandpa might have to come up here to check on you himself.”

Jian Luo raised his hand and rubbed his brow, looking a little pale, “I don’t want to eat dinner.”

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Jian Qing noticed something was off about him, so she stepped forward, her smile fading.

“I have a cold,” Jian Luo weakly admitted, a flicker of embarrassment flashing through his eyes.

Jian Qing frowned and put her hand to his forehead. He felt slightly feverish.

“Why didn’t you tell us you had a fever?”

“It’s just a low-grade fever, it doesn’t matter,” Jian Luo nonchalantly reassured her.

Jian Qing shot him a dad look, “How do you not understand your own body? If you don’t take medicine for a low-grade fever soon, you’ll develop a high fever and have to go to the hospital.”

He never learns, every time it’s the same thing.

Jian Luo kept his head low, meekly accepting her scolding.

“I’m going to get you some medicine, keep yourself covered.” Jian Qing pulled up the blanket, tucked him in securely before turning to leave.

“Sis, don’t tell Grandpa and the others,” Jian Luo spoke up to stop her, “Don’t tell Black Jack either.”

That damn Black Jack, he didn’t want to see him at all right now.

“Understood.”

Jian Qing left without looking back. Jian Luo shivered and silently cursed Black Jack for the nth time.

Not long after, Jian Qing returned with a first aid box.

She prepared a sachet of cold medicine and two pills for him, then sat down next to the bed with a cup in her hand.

“Drink it quickly.”

Jian Luo accepted the cup, wrinkling his nose at the bitter taste of the medicine, he downed both pills and the drink in one gulp.

“You were fine at lunch, how can you be sick now? What did you two do in the afternoon?” asked Jian Qing leisurely, with a keen interest in his empty cup.

At her words, Jian Luo choked a little and hurriedly responded, “We didn’t do anything, I guess I got soaked in the rain this morning.”

“Really?” Jian Qing looked at him suspiciously, clearly not believing his words.

“Could it be that the two of you were playing too hard, and that’s why you caught a cold?”

“Cough cough!” Jian Luo’s eyes widened, the suddenness of Jian Qing’s words caused him to choke on his own saliva, leading to persistent coughing.

Unbeknownst to him, his reaction only confirmed Jian Qing’s suspicions.

“Looks like I’ve guessed correctly, let me hazard another guess.” she chuckled, pointed at her chin and continued, “Was it in the bathroom or outside the window?”

Her words were shocking. Jian Luo felt as if he was being thunderstruck, the color drained from his face.

“Sis, what are you talking about?”

Could she be a little less accurate with her guesses and give him some room for denial?

Damn it.

Black Jack, if you dare to come back tonight, I swear I will kill you.

“Your face is so red, it seems like I’ve guessed correctly,” Jian Qing teased, “Luo Luo, you’re spoiling Black Jack too much, look, you’ve caught a cold.”

“It’s the fever, the fever,” Jian Luo stressed, not realising his protests were only making him seem more guilty.

Jian Qing raised her eyebrows, going along with his response, “Alright, fever it is.”

“…”

“Sis, I want to sleep.” he couldn’t handle her teasing any longer, he wished he had a hole to hide in.

“Then you sleep for a while, I’ll have someone make you some porridge. If you’re hungry later, I’ll have them bring it up to you,” Jian Qing stood up and offered.

“Okay.”

Watching as the door closed, Jian Luo settled back down and pulled up the blanket, turning over to continue sleeping.

Once Jian Qing went downstairs, she could hear Grandpa yelling furiously. She couldn’t help but laugh when she heard his remarks.

“Quan Jingwu, you rascal, don’t you understand the concept of respecting the elderly?”

Without knowing the details she already guessed that Grandpa must have lost at chess again to Xiaojing.

Upon seeing Jian Qing, Grandpa complained, “Little Qingqing, this fellow is not cute at all, if I knew that I wouldn’t have let him borrow my household registration.”

“Grandpa, regretting it now seems a bit late,” Jian Qing laughed.

Grandpa hung his head in resignation, it was his age that caused him to be deceived by that rascal Quan Jingwu.

He suddenly appeared to remember something and looked behind her. He didn’t see Jian Luo’s figure, “Where is Luo Luo? Why didn’t he come downstairs with you?”

“He’s still sleeping. I have asked the kitchen to prepare some food for him. He’ll get up and eat later,” Jian Qing responded.

“He’s been sleeping for so long?” Grandpa seemed surprised.

Jian Qing answered, “We went to the Pottery Gallery today, he might be tired.”

Grandpa nodded his understanding and resumed his chess game with Jingwu.

Jian Qing went over and sat down next to Jingwu, munching on snacks while watching the game.

As the night deepened, the lights within the Manor were illuminated.

Right after Grandpa went upstairs to rest, Black Jack came back; he was covered in dust and the chilly night air clung to him.

“Where’s Jian Luo?” Upon entering, he scanned the living room, habitually looking for that familiar figure.

“Guess you would ask that,” Jian Qing answered cryptically.

“Huh?” Unaware of what she was meaning, Black Jack gave her a puzzled glance.

Jian Qing: “You’ll know when you go to your room.”

Now, Black Jack was even more confused, hastily he ran upstairs.

“What happened to Jian Luo?” Quan Jingwu reached out to stroke her hair and couldn’t help asking.

“He’s caught a cold and has a slight fever.”

Quan Jingwu glanced upstairs, recalling the conversation between Jian Qing and Black Jack, he suddenly understood.

Rushing back to the bedroom, he pushed open the door and saw Jian Luo curled up in bed.

Under the light, the person on the bed had a slightly pale face. A chill ran down Black Jack’s spine, and in a few strides, he was by Luo Xiaobai’s bedside.

“Luo Xiaobai, what’s wrong?”

He sat on the edge of the bed, and his cold hand touched Jian Luo’s face, the icy touch causing him to jerk awake in surprise.

“What are you doing, it’s freezing!”

Jian Luo pushed his hand away sleepily, then buried himself under the blankets, drawing warmth from the quilt.

Black Jack’s eyes darkened, he pulled Jian Luo out of the covers and into his arms. Suddenly being brought out from the warmth, Jian Luo lost his temper.

“Black Jack, get out!”

If he actually ends up with a high fever, he would blame him for sure.

Black Jack held his hand and his other hand swept across his forehead. The slightly warm temperature made him worried.

“Luo Xiaobai, you’re running a fever.”

“I am not an idiot. I don’t need you to tell me that I have a fever.” Jian Luo freed his hand, pulled over the blanket, and got back inside.

“Why didn’t you call me when you realized you had a fever, you idiot!” Black Jack stared at the man buried in the quilt feeling both helpless and distressed.

It was all his fault for not noticing his fever in the first place.

“Thanks to you, I was able to catch a cold,” Jian Luo poked his head out of the quilt, glaring at him, “Get out, you’re sleeping in the guest room tonight.”

As he spoke, he grabbed a pillow and threw it at him.

Black Jack caught the pillow, his gaze landing on Jian Luo’s slightly pale face. Remembering Jian Qing’s words, he suddenly understood what Jian Qing had meant when she spoke those two sentences earlier.
