Chapter 633: 619, Choose one game (1)_1 Chapter 633: 619, Choose one game (1)_1 Walter caught Daisy shaking her head out of the corner of his eye. A cold glint crossed his gaze as he reached out and pulled Xiya up to her feet.
“Do you really think I would believe you just because you claimed that your friend is from the Jian Family? Ha, you seriously think I am easily deceived?”
With her hands tied, Xiya frowned uncomfortably. “What do you want then?”
“You say Khan has nothing to do with you, but I don’t believe that. Why not let me test him for you? Let’s play a little game of ‘choice’, where we see who holds greater importance in Khan’s heart: you or her.” Walter said hoarsely following Daisy’s suggestion.
Before his words had fully settled, there came a thundering noise of a car engine in the distance.
The tires were screeching against the ground, creating a piercing noise as they performed an impressive drift. Three sports cars abruptly came to a stop, one after the other.
Under the soft sunlight, the door of a blue sports car opened and Khan’s figure caught the attention of Walter and his group.
A hint of darkness flashed across Daisy’s eyes. She signalled to Walter who took a step back and pulled her up beside him.
From a distance, Khan saw the scene unfolding by the river and felt slightly agitated.
Not daring to hesitate, he dashed over quickly.
“Xiya!”
“Khan!”
Bai Jue and his group leaped out of their cars and began pursuing them.
“Ha!”
Under the weak sunlight, Walter watched the figure running at the front, his lips curled into a cold smirk. He leaned towards Xiya and whispered, “Look, Khan cares about you a lot. The first name he called out was yours.”
Xiya cast him a sidelong glance and huffed coldly.
Aming and Ali moved closer to Walter, flanking him on both sides and guarding the hostages.
“Xiya, are you okay?”
Stepping onto the cobblestone path, Khan halted, his gaze nervously sweeping over Xiya.
“Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere? Are you hurt?”
His eyes never left Xiya for a moment. Seeing this, Daisy felt an intense pang of jealousy and anger simmering in her chest.
Xiya gently shook her head. “I’m okay.”
At her words, Khan let out a sigh of relief. But the next second, a husky male voice echoed in his ears.
“Khan, long time no see.”
Only then did Khan divide his attention to focus on the man holding Xiya hostage. As he recognized the familiar face, he felt a sudden pang of familiarity.
This man seemed familiar as if he had seen him somewhere before.
Seeing the confusion in Khan’s eyes, Walter helpfully hinted, saying, “Khan, seems like you tend to forget those who had once mattered. Let me remind you, your ex-girlfriend that year chose me and abandoned you.”
Daisy furrowed her brow, cursing Walter in her mind.
Damn it, they had expressly agreed not to bring up the past.
That damned Walter. If he ruins her plan, she won’t let him go easily.
“Khan, don’t listen to his nonsense. I was also compelled back then. Our family owed him a large sum of money at that time, so I broke up with you to not involve you. It was he who forced me to be with him.” Daisy began to cry, the desperate light flickering in her eyes as she looked at Khan.
“Khan, believe me, the only one I’ve ever loved is you.”
Khan couldn’t spare a moment to respond to her words, as his mind was wholly preoccupied with Xiya’s safety.
Looking at Walter, his eyes flashed sinisterly. “What do you want?”
“Straightforward.” Walter gave a satisfied smile.
“One billion dollars. And a helicopter. Now. Immediately.”
Khan was about to agree, but Bai Jue stopped him.
“Khan, calm down.”
Bai Jue shook his head at him and then turned to look at Walter. He spoke calmly, “We can agree to your conditions, but you have to let Xiya go first. After all, you have two hostages. Let Xiya go first.”
Walter glanced at Xiya and snorted coldly. “Impossible; do you treat me as a fool? Before seeing the money and the helicopter, there is no way I am letting anyone go.”
“You…” Khan’s fists clenched, and a vein popped in his forehead.
“Khan, are you agreeing or not? Your woman is heavily pregnant; it’s probably not suitable for her to be stirred.” Walter threatened with a smirk.
“Don’t harm her; I agree to your conditions. I will get someone to prepare it right away.” Khan stepped forward, his gaze falling on Xiya, and he hastily said.
“Hurry up, I only give you fifteen minutes.” Walter urged.
With a serious expression on his face, Khan took out his phone to make a call.
Bai Jue and Jian Luo exchanged a glance and quietly observed their surroundings.
The three men, Walter, Aming and Ali were not enough to frighten them. However, Xiya was pregnant and they couldn’t take that risk. If anything happened, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Witnessing Khan finish his call, Walter burst into hysterical laughter. He tightened his grip on Xiya, “It seems I was right not to trust your words earlier. He cares so much for you, how can you be unrelated to him? If I had known earlier, perhaps I would have demanded more money.”
“Tch!”
Xiya spat at him, her dark green eyes flashing a cold light.
Damn that guy. If she could catch him, she would make sure to tie him up and leave him hanging from the railings by the river to be weathered by the wind and rain.
Without having to check, she was certain that her wrist was probably bruised.
“The money and the helicopter will be here soon. Loosen her bindings.” Hanging up the phone, Khan’s frosty gaze shifted to Xiya’s tightly fastened hands.
Walter raised an eyebrow and whistled, “Khan, even if Daisy is your ex-girlfriend, shouldn’t you spare her some consideration? You’ve got eyes only for Xiya. Can’t you acknowledge the past and show some compassion for your former love?”
His words hit Daisy right where it hurt.
Her eyes filling with tears, she looked towards Khan, suppressing her bitterness, and said with a feigned understanding, “Khan, don’t worry about me. Xiya is pregnant; you should save her first. It’s all my fault. The reason Walter harbours resentment is because of me. I am to blame.”
As she spoke, she began to cry softly, looking all the more pitiful.
If she wanted to play the victim, Bai Jue and the rest had no intention of indulging her performance.
Nearby, upon hearing her words, Xiya swept her gaze over to Khan, seeing him constantly staring at her, she snorted lightly.
Above them, several flashes of lightning split the sky, followed by deafening thunder. A light shower began to fall without any warning.
“Boom, boom, boom–”
Flashing lightning, rumbling thunder, the light rain gradually got heavier.
“Xiya!”
Khan tried to approach Xiya, but Walter retreated, pulling Xiya and Daisy away.
He barked hastily, “Khan, stay where you are. If you dare take another step, I’ll throw them both down the river.”
The dark clouds squeezed the sky, a downpour blurred Xiya’s vision. All she could see was Khan looking at her anxiously through the curtain of rain.
Daisy, seeing Khan’s gaze fixated on Xiya without sparing any for her, could no longer suppress her anger.
She stumbled, hitting Walter with her elbow. Walter, preoccupied with keeping an eye on Khan’s group, was caught off guard. His foot, stepping on a cobblestone, slipped causing him to stumble into Xiya.
“Hiss–”
Xiya winced in pain, a flash of discomfort in her eyes.
