Chapter 605: 591, You are the unlucky one (1)_1 Chapter 605: 591, You are the unlucky one (1)_1 “You really don’t know him?” Khan looked at him with an investigative gaze, clearly not believing his words.
Bai Jue shrugged, saying, “Why would I lie to you?”
“Khan, why are you always so curious about my husband? Are you attracted to his charms?” Xiya glared at him, making up nonsense.
“…”
Khan’s eyes twitched at the corners.
He didn’t even know what her so-called husband looked like. How could he be attracted?
Pff, he was attracted to her, alright.
“Khan, I didn’t expect your tastes to change so quickly after not seeing you for a while.” Bai Jue interjected, teasing.
“Shut up.” Khan shot a murderous look his way, which just made Bai Jue laugh even more.
“You guys can leave now.” Quan Jingwu ordered the guests to leave.
One third-wheel was bad enough, let alone three.
Bai Jue snorted, giving Quan Jingwu a sidelong glance. “After using us, you just cast us aside. Don’t come asking for my help in the future.”
He stood up, picked up his coat, and swung it around as he left.
Xiya hurriedly bid Jian Qing goodbye and rushed to follow Bai Jue.
“Bai Jue, wait for me!”
Seeing her fast pace made Khan frown.
At the hospital gate, three figures stood motionless.
The atmosphere was somewhat delicate.
Bai Jue, leaning against his black sports car, asked, “How long do you two plan to stand here?”
During the holidays, he was not interested in staying here with them in the cold.
“Bai Jue, I didn’t drive here. Let me have a lift, please?” Xiya said, a flattering smile on her face as she moved closer to the car door.
Bai Jue raised an eyebrow, without immediately agreeing. He glanced at Khan, “Didn’t you drive either?”
Trying to use him as a shield wouldn’t be that easy.
Khan looked down, hiding his hurt. His voice was a little hoarse, “Xiya, I can drive you home.”
“No need to trouble yourself. Bai Jue also lives in Shijin Haoting, we’re going the same way.” Xiya spoke in a light tone.
“But…”
Before he could finish, Xiya had already cut him off.
“Khan, it’s already late. You should go home and rest. Bai Jue can take me home.” She said, her tone firm.
Khan looked at her deeply, his gaze becoming dimmer.
“Be careful on your way then.”
Xiya nodded, “You too.”
Bai Jue watched the two of them in silence, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
The sound of the car engine starting up echoed through the quiet night. As she watched Khan’s car disappear from view, Xiya felt an inexplicable sadness.
“If it’s hard for you, you could still call him back.” Bai Jue said coolly.
She glared at him and aimed a kick his way.
“Hurry up and drive me home. I’m freezing.”
Bai Jue sidestepped her kick, his laughter resounding, “Oh, just now you were asking for a favour, now you’re back to your old self.”
“None of your business.”
“Women are as unpredictable as the sea. If I remember correctly, someone was calling me ‘husband’ earlier. Now she’s acting as if she doesn’t know me?” Bai Jue mocked.
Xiya, “…”
“Come on, get in the car.”
Teasing aside, Bai Jue was still a gentleman. He opened the car door for her.
Xiya got in the car, and Bai Jue closed the door, walking to the other side to get in.
On the road, Xiya watched the retreating street views, her gaze a murky haze.
What were she and Khan now?
Just friends?
Xiya, what are you thinking?
She rubbed her temples, her vexation apparent to Bai Jue.
“Your baby is almost due, and you still don’t plan to make up with Khan?”
His clear and gentle voice echoed in the small car.
Xiya stopped massaging her temples, a sarcastic smile on her lips.
“We’ve broken up. At most, we’re just friends now.”
“Why the downcast look if you’ve broken up?” Bai Jue retorted.
Xiya, “You are the one with a downcast look.”
“Even though Khan used to be a bit of a playboy, he’s a changed man now. Give him a chance let him prove himself.” Bai Jue persuaded.
Always dealing with their relationship issues, he felt like a relationship advisor.
“Why are you always siding with him? Did he do you any favours?” Xiya huffed.
The light turned red up ahead and Bai Jue stopped the car.
He answered, “Do I look like someone who would speak well of others in return for favours?”
“I think so.” She replied immediately.
“Alright then, I’ll call Khan now and tell him that I know the biological father of your child.” Bai Jue calmly threatened, pretending to reach for his phone.
“No, no. I was wrong.” Xiya immediately backed down.
Bai Jue looked at her, pleased and gave a satisfied laugh.
While they were bickering, the cars behind them started honking incessantly.
Bai Jue put his hand back on the steering wheel and drove on.
“Xiya, take my advice. Don’t take Khan for a fool. Do you really think he believes your words, that the child is not his?”
Xiya frowned, “What do you mean?”
Could it be that Khan knew something?
“If the child in your belly was someone else’s, do you think he would still be able to smile? Would he still take care of you and the child in your belly as calmly as he does?” Bai Jue asked.
Birds of a feather flock together. Their group of friends all had a strong possessive desire for their partners. It was even harder to accept that the woman they loved was carrying someone else’s child. However, instead of investigating who the real father was, he had taken care of her and the unborn child every day.
This could only mean one thing: Khan definitely didn’t believe her words and insisted that he was the father of the child.
Xiya’s pupils slightly contracted as she sank into deep thought.
How could Khan possibly know that he was the child’s father? No one knew about this other than a few people like Jian Qing.
They wouldn’t tell him. So how did he find out?
“We’re here.”
When they arrived at Shijin Haoting, Xiya was still lost in her thoughts until Bai Jue called out to her.
“Bai Jue, you didn’t accidentally spill it out while you were drunk, did you?” She asked as she unbuckled her seatbelt.
He met her suspicious gaze, the itch returned to his hand, and couldn’t resist giving her a flick on the forehead. “If I had spilled it out, would I still have reminded you so much?”
Does the intelligence of a pregnant woman really decline?
“Ouch!”
Xiya covered her head, giving him a look, “You hit a pregnant woman. How disgraceful.”
After her complaint, she pushed the car door open and got out.
Bai Jue pulled the car door shut, just about to leave when he saw her returning.
“What, feeling guilty? Coming back to apologize to me?” He rolled down the window, a teasing smile on his face.
Xiya bent over, her dark green eyes sparkling with mischief.
She smiled knowingly, “Bai Jue, you should take care of your own romantic debts first.”
Daring to watch her drama unfold, his own drama was probably quite exciting too.
“What do you mean by that?” Bai Jue was confused.
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
After saying this, she left him with a stylish back view.
