Chapter 600: 586, She Dies, I Die (3)_1 Chapter 600: 586, She Dies, I Die (3)_1 Shen Hua dragged a chair over, sat down by the bed, and waited for him to wake up.

A muffled groan seeped out from between his lips. Shen Yan slowly opened his eyes and raised his hand to clench the fabric over his chest. A dull pain seemed to still linger there.

“How does it feel to faint from pain?” A cold and sarcastic voice came from beside him.

That voice was too familiar to Shen Yan.

He propped himself up and sat up, looking at the person beside the bed. With a calm voice, he said, “I’m used to it, so I don’t feel much anymore.”

“Ha!” Shen Hua sneered sarcastically, “Ayan, how long will you continue deceiving yourself and others? You’ve been suffering for over forty years. Ask yourself, have you really gotten used to this pain?”

Time seemed to have been kind to the two brothers; their handsome faces bore no traces of the ravages of time. Who would have thought they were already in their forties?

Shen Yan’s gaze dimmed, but he showed no emotion on his face. “Brother, I know what you want to say, but…”

He paused, then lifted his eyes to meet his cold gaze.

“I have my own persistence. You were able to be so ruthless to her, but I can’t. I couldn’t protect her in time, but at least I must protect her child.”

“I’m cruel?”

As if hearing a big joke, Shen Hua burst out laughing. His eyes suddenly turned sinister. “Shen Yan, I put so much effort into your disease and you call me cruel! You should know, I didn’t want to hurt her. Everything that happened back then was forced by her. She forced me to walk this road of no return.”

Shen Hua was cold and heartless, but she and Shen Yan were the only ones he cared about. Everything he did was for them.

But why wouldn’t she see his sincerity? And now even his own brother called him cruel.

Ha, how utterly disheartening.

Shen Yan’s face turned pale, a determined light flashing in his eyes. “Brother, I’m grateful for your kindness towards me, but please let her child go. I’m begging you.”

“Shen Yan!” He yelled, glancing at his pale face, but then couldn’t bear it.

They both fell silent, the atmosphere turning a little awkward.

Suddenly, a cell phone started ringing.

Shen Hua didn’t pick up immediately. He just stared at Shen Yan, his phone still ringing in his pocket, sounding somewhat urgent.

He frowned, pulled out his phone and had a look. His eyes darkened.

Without avoiding Shen Yan, he directly answered the call.

Shen Yan watched as his face turned ugly. Was it about Jian Qing?

He speculated in his mind, his gaze locked on the phone in his hand.

“I understand.”

After hanging up, Shen Yan couldn’t wait to speak.

“Is it news about Jian Qing?”

Shen Hua looked at him coldly, “You seem quite concerned about her. She’s had a car accident. What, you want to see her?”

Hearing that Jian Qing had been in an accident, Shen Yan tensed up. “Did you do this?”

“What if I did?” Shen Hua admitted outright.

“How is she?”

Shen Hua’s lips curved into a cruel smile as if the lives of others were no more than ants in his eyes. “She’s not dead. But the child in her stomach might not make it.”

She’s pregnant?

A glimmer of joy flashed through Shen Yan’s eyes, immediately replaced by worry.

He noticed the cold smile on Shen Hua’s face and made a quick decision.

After a moment, he said in a low, hoarse voice, “Brother, you want to take her just to cure my disease. Let it go, otherwise if she dies, I die.”

Shen Hua froze, his eyes glaring at him bitterly, he gritted his teeth and said, “Shen Yan, you dare to threaten me with your own life. Do you think you can fly now?”

Shen Yan remained silent, meeting his gaze defiantly.

“You do realize, Dr. Kesen just told me that you only have two years left if you don’t get a heart transplant. Everything I’ve done is for you. Now you dare to threaten me with your life. Don’t you think you’re overstepping?” Shen Hua was beside himself with rage, the veins on his forehead and neck bulging.

Two years?

Shen Yan let out a self-mocking laugh. Two years was enough.

He had long since given up on his battered body. Two years was already God giving him mercy.

“Shen Yan, I’m telling you, letting her go is impossible. Even if it wasn’t because of your illness, I would still not let Jian Qing and Jian Luo go.” Shen Hua said sternly.

The existence of Jian Qing and Jian Luo, every moment seemed to remind him of that person who ignored his sincerity and threw herself into another man’s arms.

So, he would never allow them to continue existing.

Seeing the crazed darkness in his eyes, a gaze he knew all too well. It was that look that brewed the tragedy back then.

After a moment’s thought, Shen Yan backed down, “At least, let her give birth to the child. Before that, don’t hurt her anymore.”

Shen Hua looked at him and did not agree.

“Once she gives birth, at least the child in her womb is innocent. Then, I won’t stop you.” Shen Yan continued to insist.

Shen Hua saw through his intentions and gave a sarcastic smile. “Ayan, do you really think I don’t know what’s on your mind? You’re trying to buy time for her, aren’t you? Even if she finds me and kills me, you still want to protect her, isn’t that so?”

Not flustered by the exposure of his intentions, Shen Yan said calmly, “If she wants to kill you, I will stand in front of you. But if you don’t let her give birth and insist on hurting her now, then I have no choice but to end my life first because I can’t stop you and I can’t just stand by and watch you hurt her.”

He was his brother. He was willing to make amends for his wrongdoings, but he also had to protect Jian Qing and Jian Luo.

Shen Hua got up from his seat, snorted coldly, turned around and left.

As he was stepping out the door, he paused, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

“Ayan, I can let her give birth to the child, but after that, if you stand in my way, I won’t let anyone related to her off the hook.”

Having laid out the warning, he left, slamming the door behind him.

Shen Yan let out a sigh of relief as his body slumped down.

“Second Master, are you alright?”

A’er walked in through the door seeing the man on the bed regaining consciousness.

Shen Yan shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips.

“Nothing serious. You know all about my old ailment.”

“Second Master, about the elder master…” A’er stammered.

“Just say it, I won’t blame you.” Seeing his hesitation, Shen Yan had a rough guess as to what it was about.

A’er said, “The elder master has taken away all the communication devices in this building, even the entire building’s signal has been blocked.”

Shen Yan’s eyes remained calm, showing no surprise.

Since his brother had agreed to his terms, he wouldn’t go back on his word. As for cutting off his communication, it was probably due to the fear that he might secretly give Jian Qing a heads up.
