Chapter 1038: 1023, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (22) Chapter 1038: 1023, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (22) He had all the time in the world to slowly settle scores with them!
Those who dared to touch him, he thought it too lenient to chop them up and feed them to dogs.
“Yes.”
“Let go of me, let go…” Lou Xin felt a bad premonition rising in her heart as she watched Bai Jue leave with Zhan Mingyan.
The man dressed in black couldn’t stand her noisy voice and turned his hand into a blade, chopping directly at the back of her neck.
Lou Xin’s body went limp, and she collapsed to the ground.
In the back seat, Zhan Mingyan sat hugging her knees, looking forward with a vacant gaze.
“Bai Jue, I don’t want to go to the hospital,” she suddenly said, her voice hoarse.
Bai Jue looked up at the rearview mirror, saw the plea in her eyes, and with a turn of his hand on the steering wheel, he headed back to his own place.
As he often stayed in Beijing temporarily, Bai Jue had bought a villa in the suburbs, which wasn’t far from Shijin Haoting.
This was Zhan Mingyan’s first time here.
Bai Jue carried her into the bedroom, laid her on the bed, then removed her coat and saw the abrasions on her arm, his eyes suddenly turning cold.
“Wait here for me, I’ll go get a medical kit.”
“Bai Jue, I want to take a bath,” she said, grabbing his hand, her eyes red from crying.
Her clothes had been touched by those people, and she didn’t want to wear them for another minute.
“Okay.”
Bai Jue picked her up and then walked toward the bathroom.
“Call me when you’re done with your shower, I’ll get you some clothes,” he said as he set her down, readying the hot water and finding a new towel for her.
Zhan Mingyan nodded blankly, and Bai Jue turned and walked out.
After closing the door, Bai Jue’s eyes turned cold.
He picked up his phone to send Jian Qing a message and then started looking for clothes for Zhan Mingyan.
Having no one else’s clothes here except for his, he took one of his shirts and placed it at the bathroom door.
“Yanyan, I’ve put your clothes at the door.”
“Okay.”
Her soft voice was quickly drowned out by the sound of the water.
After placing the clothes down, Bai Jue went downstairs to warm up a glass of milk for her.
“Bang.”
A muffled sound came from upstairs; Bai Jue ran up the steps in two or three bounds.
The bedroom door was open, and as he entered, he saw Zhan Mingyan rising to her feet with the support of a chair. She was wearing his shirt, which barely covered her buttocks, and her long, straight legs were covered with abrasions and bruises, which were horribly jarring to look at.
“Where did you fall?” he asked anxiously, setting down the milk and carefully checking her over with his large hands.
Zhan Mingyan shook her head lightly, “It’s nothing.”
“Your knees are bruised, and you still say it’s nothing,” Bai Jue said, looking at the abrasions and bruises marring her fair skin, his face darkening ominously.
He scooped her up in one move, and his shirt rolled up even further. Zhan Mingyan saw a hint of embarrassment in his eyes and struggled to get down.
“Bai Jue, put me down.”
“Don’t move around.”
Zhan Mingyan looked up to see his stern face, bit her lip lightly, and dared not move any longer.
After placing her carefully on the bed, Bai Jue grabbed a towel and put it on her head, dabbing at her still-dripping wet hair.
Then, he dropped the towel, pulled over a chair to sit down, took out a medical kit, and started applying medicine to her face from a small green bottle.
“Hiss.”
Just a light touch made Zhan Mingyan involuntarily inhale sharply.
Damn Lou Xin, she really knew how to hit hard.
Fortunately, he arrived just in time, otherwise the consequences would have been unbearable for her.
With that thought in mind, she lifted her eyes to look at the man who was applying medicine on her, meeting his icy eyes, she timidly asked, “Bai Jue, are you angry?”
Bai Jue remained silent, his fingertips spreading the ointment as he tended to her wounds.
The faint coolness of mint soothed the burning pain a bit, with a subtle scent of flowers lingering.
Zhan Mingyan reached out to grasp his hand, “Bai Jue, could you say something, please?”
Seeing her reddened eyes, Bai Jue let out a light sigh, “I’m not angry.”
Even if he were angry, he was angry at himself for not having protected her properly, and nearly letting her get hurt.
“Then why are you keeping such a cold face?” Zhan Mingyan murmured softly.
“How can I smile with you covered in wounds?” Having finished applying medicine to her face, Bai Jue stopped, his fingertips brushing away the stray hair on her cheek.
At his words, Zhan Mingyan’s pink lips slightly parted.
Bai Jue glanced at the shirt she was wearing and said, “Take off your clothes.”
“Wha, what?” Zhan Mingyan clutched at the collar of her shirt, almost biting her own tongue.
“How can I check your injuries and apply medicine if you don’t take off your clothes?” As he spoke, Bai Jue reached out to help her undo the buttons.
“No need for that, I can apply the medicine myself, I’m also a doctor, I can take care of myself,” Zhan Mingyan coughed lightly, hastily added.
Although they were about to get married, it still felt a little awkward.
Bai Jue’s hand froze in mid-air, his light eyes sweeping toward her, “Are you avoiding me? Or are you afraid of what I might do to you?”
“No,” she replied without hesitation.
“Then why won’t you let me help you with the medicine?” Bai Jue withdrew his hand, his eyebrows furrowing.
“I…” Zhan Mingyan hesitated.
“Since you want to apply the medicine yourself, I’ll go out first.” Saying this, Bai Jue placed the ointment aside and made as if to leave.
“Bai Jue, don’t go.”
Seeing him about to leave, Zhan Mingyan quickly got up and embraced him from behind.
Bai Jue lowered his gaze to the hands around his waist, slowly turned around, and pulled her into his embrace, “You fool!”
Zhan Mingyan buried her head into his chest and hummed softly twice.
After Bai Jue finished applying medicine to her, Zhan Mingyan’s rounded and luminous earlobes were red as if they were bleeding.
“Drink the milk, then get some sleep,” Bai Jue pulled over the blanket to cover her, then brought over the warmed milk.
Zhan Mingyan held the cup, its warm temperature seeping and spreading into the bottom of her heart.
As she sipped on the milk, she said, “Bai Jue, don’t tell my mom about this.”
“I’ve talked to your mom on the phone. I told them we are going to J City to play for a few days,” Bai Jue sat at the bedside, his eyebrows tightly knit as he looked at the slap mark on her face.
“Don’t just take a cab randomly the next time you go out, or else call me, I’ll come to pick you up.”
Zhan Mingyan hummed in acknowledgment.
“Bai Jue, that Lou xin—”
“Leave all that to me, you just rest,” Bai Jue interrupted her, his voice gentle.
“How did you know I was tied up there?” Zhan Mingyan, having regained some strength, suddenly remembered this question; how had he found the place in such a short amount of time.
“I contacted Jian Qing, had her track your phone and then accessed the traffic surveillance of all the roads in Beijing,” Bai Jue explained.
Zhan Mingyan smiled, “Jian Qing is my lucky star.”
It was Jian Qing who had saved her last time on Solak Island, it was the same during the car accident when she was chased down, and now, once again.
Bai Jue scratched the palm of her hand, “What about me then?”
“You, you are my…” Zhan Mingyan deliberately elongated her tone, smiling sweetly, “You’re my little sun.”
With that answer, Bai Jue was thoroughly satisfied.
