Chapter 1034: 1019, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (18) Chapter 1034: 1019, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (18) She blinked her eyes, finally finding her voice, “Are you proposing to me with a household registration book?”
“Isn’t it uniquely creative?” Bai Jue lifted his lips in a smile.
Zhan Mingyan suddenly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Others proposed with rings and flowers, but he had simply stuffed a household registration book into her hands.
“Wait a second.”
Bai Jue turned around to the back of the car, opened the trunk, took out a bundle of fiery red roses, then closed the trunk and walked up to her.
It really was like whatever you think, it comes true.
Zhan Mingyan, staring at the bunch of fiery red roses, felt her heart thumping wildly.
Suddenly, with her eyes wide in surprise, Bai Jue knelt on one knee, his hands presenting the bouquet to her, “Now that you have both the household registration book and fresh flowers, and I’ve also customized the ring, which will be delivered in a while, Zhan Mingyan, marry me!”
The usually casual man was suddenly so serious that Zhan Mingyan felt a bit out of her element.
With one hand holding a box of chocolates and the other holding the household registration book, she met his earnest gaze and was momentarily stunned.
Without accepting the roses right away, Bai Jue didn’t move either, just kneeling there.
After a little while, Zhan Mingyan burst into laughter, “Bai Jue, if I count correctly, you’ve proposed to me two or three times already, and I’ve turned you down each time. I confessed to you in the past, and you also rejected me twice, now we’re even.”
Her affection for him had never changed.
Therefore, she couldn’t find a reason to refuse.
She reached out to take the roses, her lips curling into a smile of happiness, “What are you still kneeling for, aren’t your knees sore?”
Bai Jue’s smile widened, his radiant grin outshining even the rising sun.
“So when shall we go and get our marriage certificate?”
“Let me think it over,” Zhan Mingyan purposefully kept him in suspense, that was payback for startling her just now.
Bai Jue grabbed her hand quickly, his voice urgent, “What’s there to think over, didn’t you just accept my proposal?”
“I’ve accepted your proposal already, what’s the rush,” Zhan Mingyan blocked him with his own words, “Besides, I haven’t even talked to my family about it yet.”
It was then that Bai Jue remembered this important detail, indeed, he needed to hurry up and inform the Zhan family elders.
No time to lose, he decided to propose formally to her family tomorrow.
Zhan Mingyan’s attention was all on the red roses, completely oblivious to the calculations Bai Jue was making in his mind.
The sun had witnessed it all, the proposal had been made, and as Zhan Mingyan traveled along, her face was brimming with a sweet smile, the car filled with pink bubbles of joy.
After dropping Zhan Mingyan off, Bai Jue also went back to refresh and change his clothes.
“Mom!”
Upon entering the house, Zhan Mingyan saw her mother brewing tea in the living room.
The fiery red roses instantly caught Lu Hui’s attention; she smiled and teased, “Seems like the date went well.”
“Mom!” Zhan Mingyan called out shyly.
“Oh, you’re blushing in front of your mom,” Lu Hui laughed.
“Mom, I’m going upstairs to change,” Zhan Mingyan, faced with her mother’s gossiping gaze, quickly opted to flee.
Lu Hui watched her dash away in an instant and took a sip from the freshly brewed tea.
It seemed a wedding for the Zhan family was in the near future.
Back in her room, Zhan Mingyan put the roses in a vase, then quickly freshened up and changed her clothes.
With her hair only half-dry, she didn’t even bother to comb it, hurrying out of the room.
Looking at the chocolate gift box and the household registration book on the table, she truly believed none of this was a dream.
Picking up the little household registration book, she smiled ridiculously to herself.
The next day, before Zhan Mingyan had even gotten out of bed, she heard laughter coming from downstairs.
Faintly, Bai Jue’s voice could be heard.
Bai Jue!
Zhan Mingyan suddenly awoke, sitting up abruptly like a carp leaping out of the water.
She ran her fingers through her hair and glanced at the wall; it was almost ten o’clock already.
Goodness, she had slept for so long.
She hurried out of bed to wash up, not even bothering to put on her shoes.
Downstairs, Bai Jue was having a pleasant conversation with Grandpa Zhan and Lu Hui.
“Grandpa, Mom!”
Zhan Mingyan rushed downstairs, her long hair hanging over her shoulders, slightly disheveled.
“Yanyan, Bai Jue came early in the morning, and only you slept in so late. It’s almost time for lunch,” Lu Hui teased her daughter.
“Mom, why didn’t you wake me up?” Zhan Mingyan sat down next to Bai Jue.
Bai Jue replied, “I told your mother not to wake you.”
“See, Bai Jue is so considerate,” Lu Hui said.
Zhan Mingyan, listening to her mother praise Bai Jue repeatedly, complained, “Mom, am I your biological child, or is Bai Jue your biological child?”
“After you two are married, Bai Jue will also be my son,” Lu Hui cleverly said.
Zhan Mingyan met her grandfather’s and mother’s mischievously amused eyes and reflexively looked towards Bai Jue, asking, “What nonsense have you been spouting?”
Without any hurry, Bai Jue tidied the stray hairs by her cheek and said calmly, “Just that I proposed to you and you said yes, and we’re picking out a good day for the wedding.”
“Mom, Grandpa, don’t listen to his nonsense,” Zhan Mingyan widened her eyes. This guy was in such a rush; he had just proposed yesterday, and today he came to discuss the marriage proposal.
“Where did I talk nonsense? My household registration book is at your place,” Bai Jue spoke softly.
Zhan Mingyan was at a loss for words, “I…”
“What, Yanyan, you even took Bai Jue’s household registration book?” Lu Hui could hardly suppress her amused smile.
Zhan Mingyan touched her forehead, “…”
This damn Bai Jue had clearly set a trap for her to fall into.
“Grandpa, let’s continue discussing the wedding date,” Bai Jue said, looking towards Grandpa Zhan.
Zhan Mingyan slapped his thigh, “Who’s your grandpa?”
“We are about to get married, your grandpa is my grandpa,” Bai Jue naturally stated, “Right, Grandpa?”
Grandpa Zhan very supportively said, “That’s right.”
Zhan Mingyan didn’t know whether to laugh or to worry when she saw her grandfather and mother on Bai Jue’s side.
“I bought you some food, it’s in the dining room, go eat something first,” Bai Jue pinched her cheek, the soft touch making him reluctant to let go.
“Exactly, you go eat. Don’t disturb us while we pick a date,” Lu Hui chimed in.
Zhan Mingyan was speechless.
Who exactly was getting married, her or them?
At noon, Bai Jue stayed at the Zhan Family home for lunch, and then Grandpa Zhan dragged him to play chess until he left in the evening.
And Lu Hui pushed Zhan Mingyan out to send Bai Jue off.
Under the streetlight, Zhan Mingyan kicked at the pebbles on the ground.
“What are you thinking about?” Bai Jue stopped her, suddenly asking, “Are you worried about our marriage?”
Zhan Mingyan hesitated, then looked up at him, “Bai Jue, have you really thought it through? Marriage is a lifetime commitment for me, I don’t want you to decide out of impulse.”
Bai Jue’s smile faded, and he cupped her face with both hands, “Listen carefully, Zhan Mingyan. I, Bai Jue, do not take marriage lightly. It’s a lifetime commitment for you, and the same goes for me, not out of impulse, but a seriousness I’ve never felt before.”
