Chapter 1005: 990, Joyful Chinese New Year (Grand Finale)_2 Chapter 1005: 990, Joyful Chinese New Year (Grand Finale)_2 “Quan Mingxuan, when have I ever looked like some creppy old man?” Han Yue complained irritably.
Quan Mingxuan gave him a mock serious look and quipped, “Everywhere.”
“Uncle, Happy New Year.”
The two little treasures stretched out their hands, their soft and glutinous voices impossible to resist.
“Red envelopes, red envelopes.”
Confronted with the two little treasures’ sparkling eyes, Han Yue felt immense pressure.
He hadn’t remembered that he was supposed to bring red envelopes to this event.
Quan Mingxuan teased, “Tsk tsk, you don’t even give red envelopes to kids, Ayue, your character seems to decline year by year.”
“…”
Isn’t New Year’s a good time to shed some blood?
Han Yue pulled out his wallet, which contained nothing but cards and a lonely-looking large denomination bill.
Quan Mingxuan had expected this and burst into laughter, “Ayue, are you so poor that all you have left is one hundred yuan?”
He could no longer contain his anger, nor did he need to.
Han Yue’s handsome face turned dark as he pulled out the last one hundred yuan bill and smacked it onto Quan Mingxuan’s face.
“Smack–”
Seventeen and Nineteen held their faces in their hands, their rosy lips slightly parted.“Han Yue, do you want to spend the New Year in the hospital?” Quan Mingxuan grabbed the bill from his face, hooked an arm around Han Yue’s neck, and put him in a headlock.
The two wrestled into a tangle on the sofa, the red bill falling to the floor.
Seventeen dashed over to pick it up, then handed it to Nineteen, showing great brotherly instincts, “Nineteen, go buy some lollipops.”
Nineteen, holding the bill, beamed so wide his teeth disappeared from view.
Seventeen really was the best!
The two little treasures walked hand in hand to the kitchen to find Rhee for some treats.
For a moment, the living room was filled only with the sounds of Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan bickering.
“Let go of me!”
“You let go first.”
“Damn, Quan Mingxuan, were you born in the Year of the Dog or something?”
“Han Yue, when did you start using women’s tactics? Grabbing hair in a fight?”
“What on earth are you two doing?” Quan Jingwu had just finished exchanging New Year’s greetings with a few friends on the phone and walked in to see the two men on the sofa, his wrinkled old face showing a mixture of emotions.
“Grandpa!”
“Grandfather Quan!”
Quan Mingxuan and Han Yue both sat up at the same time, quickly tidied their slightly disheveled hair and collars, and sat with knees together like exemplary students.
“You’re both grown men, still fooling around like this. Isn’t it childish?” Grandfather Quan raised his hand and gave each of them a knock on the head.
The two exchanged a glance, Han Yue snorted softly, and Quan Mingxuan clicked his tongue, both full of disdain for the other.
“Don’t just sit around, Yimo is outside hanging lanterns; you two go and give him a hand,” Grandfather Quan ordered.
Quan Mingxuan stood up, stomped on Han Yue’s foot, and then dashed outside swiftly.
The stomp wasn’t light, and Han Yue’s face instantly flushed red.
It must have bruised.
“Quan Mingxuan, you stop right there.”
Han Yue’s head seemed to amass a mushroom cloud at a visible rate as he teleported in pursuit.
Old Master Quan shook his head and muttered to himself.
So immature!
During the Chinese New Year, the servants had all gone on holiday.
The Quan matriarch and a few others had prepared a full table of New Year’s Eve dinner, and Jian Luo’s parents also came to the old Quan mansion to join in the meal.
Lights twinkled, and the Quan family’s laughter and chattering never ceased.
Not long after the New Year’s Eve dinner, Quan Mingxuan and Bai Jue suggested having a barbecue in the open space of the courtyard.
Many hands make light work, and in no time, the aroma of the roasted meat wafted through the air, luring Snowball to squat stubbornly beside the grill, refusing to leave.
The moonlight stretched everyone’s shadows, and Jian Qing leaned into Quan Jingwu’s embrace, watching the bustling crowd not far away, her lips curving into a smile.
She turned around, lifted her head to meet the man’s dazzling purple eyes, “Xiaojing, do you still remember the first time we met?”
Quan Jingwu’s smile deepened, his gaze swirling with tenderness reserved just for her, “Of course I remember, a certain muddle-headed girl bumped into me, and then ran away in a panic.”
With that, he lifted her chin with his fingertip, “Was I that scary back then, huh?”
Jian Qing arched an eyebrow, reached up to touch his purple eyes, and gave a mischievous smile, “A big demon that bewitches people’s hearts, you tell me if that’s scary.”
“Hehe.”
Quan Jingwu chuckled softly, his rich, magnetic voice rising again, “Well, it takes one to know one.”
He was a demon, and so was she. That bump meant she became a fate he couldn’t escape from, and he relished it.
Jian Qing’s smile blossomed, her slender arms encircling his waist, and she tiptoed to whisper in his ear, “Husband, Happy New Year!”
Before her words fell, fireworks burst into the night sky, their colors spilling over, illuminating their eyes filled only with each other’s reflection.
Quan Jingwu narrowed his purple eyes and leaned down to seal her soft lips.
The tender, enchanting kiss made the night even more fascinating.
“Damn it, Han Yue, you bastard, where are you lighting that fire?” Quan Mingxuan’s frustrated voice pierced through the sky.
It turned out Han Yue had accidentally set the hem of Quan Mingxuan’s sweater on fire while fiddling with the charcoal, nearly scorching his butt.
Luckily, Quan Yimo reacted quickly, grabbing a bucket of water and dousing him with it. Otherwise, the barbecue might have turned into a man roast.
Getting doused with cold water in the dead of winter – imagine the feeling.
Quan Mingxuan felt like killing someone, but, not bothering to change out of his wet clothes, he grabbed a barbecue fork and chased Han Yue all around the yard.
The others stood by, munching meat and watching the spectacle, laughing until tears streamed down their faces.
“Black Jack, does this scene look familiar?” Jian Luo said with a bite of chicken leg, his smile full of meaning.
Black Jack curved his lips, “What do you think?”
Upon hearing their conversation, Bai Jue chipped in, “Familiar it is, but Luo Xiaobai, I and Black Jack ended up far worse than Han Yue, all thanks to you and your sister.”
“Are you talking about me?” Jian Qing approached at the sound.
“We were talking about how loving you and your husband are,” Bai Jue brown-nosed.
Jian Qing cracked a smile, “At least you know what’s good.”
That night, the laughter and joy continued, drifting off into the distance with the cold winter wind…
