Monopolize My Mysterious Wife -
Chapter 1003 - 1003 989 Hard to fool Seventeen (3)
Chapter 1003: 989, Hard to fool Seventeen (3) Chapter 1003: 989, Hard to fool Seventeen (3) Jian Wei answered without hesitation, “No, I never will.”
The child grew inside her day by day. Even a tiger would not eat its offspring, she could not bring herself to kill two such small lives.
Moreover, she had lost her memory back then and didn’t even know that the child in her belly was from the An Family.
Why couldn’t she hesitate for a moment before answering him? Even if it was just a few seconds, he would believe that she had once had feelings for him.
A look of desolation flashed through An Chong’s eyes, “Is it because I already had a family when you met me?”
“No.” Jian Wei’s gaze drifted past him, looking into the Ancestral Hall, “The day I met him, I was destined to only like him in this lifetime.”
Her firm words completely shattered his last hope.
“Then what about me? Have you ever liked me, even just a little bit?”
Jian Wei flicked her finger, and the tender yellow petals were carried away by the wind.
“Never.”
Those two short words weighed down on his heart like a thousand gold pieces.
An Chong took a step back, laughing at himself mockingly.
What a “never”.
Jian Wei, oh Jian Wei, you truly are cruel!
“An!”
Seeing Mo Xiao, Jian Wei’s eyes lit up.
She crossed past An Chong, walking briskly towards Mo Xiao.
In the moment they brushed past each other, An Chong clearly saw the bright smile on her face, a happiness he had never witnessed before.
For two years, her smile always seemed to wear a mask, and he could never see through what she was thinking.
Watching the two whispering affectionately not far away, An Chong’s gaze gradually dimmed.
He had lost, thoroughly lost!
He watched Mo Xiao walking towards him, but he could not take a step forward.
“Achong, the An Family will be in your hands from now on.” Mo Xiao placed his hand on his shoulder, “And this too.”
He took an envelope out of his pocket and handed it to him.
“What is this?” An Chong looked down at the envelope in his hand, which was clean and unmarked.
“I’m abroad most of the time, and these things are of no use to me; you keep them,” Mo Xiao said, pulling his hand and stuffing the envelope into it.
An Chong scoffed cynically, “The things grandfather left for you, you’re now giving them to me, are you pitying me or trying to flaunt them to me?”
“Achong, when did we ever have to speak to each other with such acrimony?” Mo Xiao asked calmly.
“What do you think?” An Chong snorted, “From childhood, grandfather and dad were partial to you, even the person she likes is you, you got everything I wanted, how do you think I should feel?”
“No matter what you think, if you don’t want these things, then give them to dad,” Mo Xiao said indifferently, “Being too obsessive sometimes ends up hurting oneself.”
After that, Mo Xiao turned and walked back to Jian Wei.
After paying respects to the old master, Mo Xiao and the others also stayed here for lunch.
But Quan Jingwu didn’t stay; he had a lunch meeting, and before leaving, he took Nineteen with him, who was clinging to him.
Seventeen was easy to feed; within a moment, a bowl of porridge was finished. Jian Qing carried him down, letting him go off to play on his own.
An Zhonghui had a weak stomach and left the dining hall after hardly eating a few bites.
After taking two tablets, he leaned back on the couch to rest his eyes for a while.
In a blur, he heard the laughter of a child; he slowly opened his eyes, glanced up, and saw Seventeen sitting on the couch playing with a toy airplane.
All these toys for the children had been personally bought by the old master.
An Zhonghui looked around, realized that Jian Qing and the others were still in the dining hall, and cleared his throat before waving at Seventeen.
“Little guy, come here.”
Seventeen heard the voice, looked up at him, then bowed his head back to play with his toy.
Seeing that Seventeen ignored him, An Zhonghui helplessly got up and went over to him.
He grabbed a handful of candy from the table, coaxing Seventeen, “Seventeen, call me great-grandpa!”
If it were Nineteen here, perhaps the candy might have some effect, but sadly, An Zhonghui was coaxing Seventeen, who didn’t have a sweet tooth.
The little fellow glanced indifferently at the candy and continued to focus on playing with his toy.
This left An Zhonghui feeling quite frustrated.
He had lived for a good part of his life, and this was the first time he was trying to soothe a child.
He really was lacking in his childcare skills.
Seeing the little one’s attachment to the toy plane, he had an idea.
“Seventeen, great-grandpa has lots more toy cars and little airplanes upstairs, shall great-grandpa carry you up to get them?”
Seventeen tilted his little head as if pondering.
An Zhonghui looked at him expectantly, and after a long while, Seventeen shook his head.
Daddy had said not to go off with strangers.
An Zhonghui hung his head, deeply feeling the defeat.
His eyes caught sight of a toy car not far away, and his interest was piqued again, “Seventeen, how about this, shall great-grandpa play with that car with you?”
Seventeen looked at the silver little car in the distance, his dark eyes shining brightly, “Mm-hmm.”
An Zhonghui seized the opportunity and picked him up, looking at the little one in his arms, his usually stern face broke into a rare smile.
“Zhonghui, you—” Zhou Qi and the others came out from the dining room, and seeing An Zhonghui pushing the little car around the living room, not only she but also An Chong and the others were incredulous.
An Zhonghui squatted on the ground, drenched in sweat despite it being autumn, feeling embarrassed as he saw Zhou Qi and the others.
He cleared his throat and then stood up.
“Have you all finished eating?”
His question only added to the awkwardness.
Seventeen saw Jian Qing and got up, wanting to get out of the small car.
An Zhonghui, seeing this, stretched out his hand and lifted him out.
As soon as Seventeen’s feet touched the ground, he ran towards Jian Qing.
“Mommy!”
Jian Qing picked him up, and An Zhonghui looked at Seventeen with a touch of reluctance still lingering.
“Was it fun?” Jian Qing wiped the sweat from his forehead and asked softly.
Seventeen nodded happily.
“It’s getting late, we should be going,” said Jian Qing.
Upon hearing this, a trace of loss flitted across An Zhonghui’s face.
Mo Xiao spoke a few words to An Zhonghui, then took the car keys and walked out with Jian Wei, Jian Qing carrying Seventeen followed behind.
All of a sudden, Jian Qing paused in her steps and whispered something in Seventeen’s ear.
Then she put Seventeen down, and he trotted back on his little legs.
An Zhonghui looked at the little one running back, puzzled, and squatted down, softening his voice, “What is it, Seventeen?”
“Thank you, great-grandpa!” Seventeen tiptoed and unexpectedly kissed An Zhonghui on the cheek.
An Zhonghui stood frozen in place, while Seventeen waved his little hand at him, said goodbye, and then ran back to Jian Qing.
As Jian Qing picked him up to leave, it took a while for An Zhonghui to snap out of it.
He raced to the doorway, shouting, “Seventeen, next time you come, great-grandpa will buy you lots of toys.”
This uncharacteristically undignified behavior shocked the An family members.
An Yu’s eyes widened as she stared at the elder standing at the doorway, her feelings were indescribably complex.
Was it because he was Jian Qing’s child that he was so favored?
Zhou Qi also saw An Zhonghui’s “undignified” side for the first time, standing in stunned silence for a long while, unable to speak.
