Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Do you know you are sick...

When she awoke and opened her eyes, it was already midnight.

The unfamiliar surroundings made Melody Parker instantly sit up alertly.

Where is this?

How did she end up here?

Melody felt terribly dizzy and immediately scanned her surroundings.

A tall figure on the balcony entered her view, reminding her of everything that had happened before she fainted.

Ah yes, Neal Galan came; he saved her.

Seeing that familiar silhouette, Melody softly called out, "Neal!"

Her voice was not loud, yet the man heard it clearly.

She’s awake?

She’s calling him!

The man turned around and walked in from the balcony.

He sat beside Melody, his warm hand holding her delicate, pale hand. "You’re awake? Do you know you’re ill?"

The man’s voice was gentle, so gentle that one could easily become immersed and unable to extricate themselves.

Melody shook her head, looking at the man in confusion. "I’m sick? Didn’t I fall into the lake?"

"You remember falling into the lake, huh? Do you know, had I not happened to arrive, how dangerous that would have been for you?" The man scolded with a stern face, "Melody, just for those insignificant little trades, you risked your life like that. Are you trying to make me worry to death?"

Though the man was scolding her, his eyes were exceptionally gentle.

A man already exceptionally handsome with those eyes that carried a deadly seductive tenderness could at this moment captivate any woman.

However, Melody was clearly not among those women.

Looking at Neal Galan like this, Melody suddenly smiled, "Neal, a small trade is still a trade! I’m really afraid of being poor. Unlike you, I have to work hard to earn money, as much as possible, to provide my baby with a better life."

Melody’s smile was exceedingly adorable, her neat white teeth shining in Neal’s eyes.

Neal’s eyes grew even more tender.

"Drink the medicine first." He brought the medicine next to the bed to her mouth, and Melody obediently drank it.

Neal held her hand and questioned warmly, "Melody, can’t you rely on me? I’m standing right here in front of you, can’t you see?"

Melody blinked her big eyes, looking at Neal with a smile, "How could I not see? You’re such a handsome guy, aren’t you fully in my sight right now?"

After speaking, before Neal could respond, she put away her playful expression and earnestly said, "Neal, you know I’ve always wanted to rely on myself. Neal, over the years, you’ve helped us so much already; if I were to burden you further, I would truly feel bad."

"You!" Neal gently flicked Melody’s nose with his long index finger, "Since you know I’m so good and have helped you so much, why don’t you hurry up and marry me, hmm?"

Hearing Neal’s words, Melody laughed, her smile becoming even more radiant.

She looked at Neal, speaking seriously about something unserious, "Neal, it’s our honor that you’d consider us orphans as good enough. But I, this blighted star, cannot foolishly go on to poison you, the prince who saved me."

Neal was speechless, lightly flicking Melody’s forehead, "Alright, I’m truly afraid of you."

With that, he looked at Melody and asked with concern, "You’ve been asleep for so long, you must be hungry, right?"

Melody nodded, "Yes, I’m hungry. I feel like I could swallow an entire elephant right now."

"I knew you’d be hungry when you woke up, so I had the servant make some lotus seed porridge. I’ll go get it now." Neal said as he stood up from the bed and walked out.

Upon reaching the door, he suddenly remembered something, turned around to look at Melody, and reminded her, "You’re weak now and need to supplement your nutrition and get plenty of rest. Just wait here obediently; I’ll be back soon, but don’t move around."

Melody nodded, "Okay."

Neal went downstairs to get the lotus seed porridge.

Only then did Melody have the leisure to examine herself.

What was she wearing?

A maid’s outfit?

Where were her clothes?

Who changed her clothes?

...

In no time, Neal returned with the lotus seed porridge.

Seeing Melody’s troubled expression, Neal gently asked, "What’s wrong, Melody?"

Melody looked at Neal, feeling very embarrassed, "Neal, my clothes..."

Neal sat next to Melody and answered bluntly, "I changed them."

Melody was shocked, "Ah... it was really you!"

Neal freed a hand and tapped on Melody’s forehead, "What are you thinking? I was kidding! I had the maid help change your clothes."

Only then did Melody breathe a sigh of relief and thanked Neal, "Neal, thank you!"

"Mm," Neal scooped a spoonful of lotus seed porridge, bringing it to Melody’s mouth, "if you really want to thank me, then finish this whole bowl of lotus seed porridge."

"Mm, I’ll drink it all." Melody nodded, looking at Neal, "Neal, I can do it myself."

"Okay!" Neal didn’t refuse, placing the spoon back in the bowl and handing it to Melody.

Melody had just finished a bowl of lotus seed porridge when Neal immediately and tenderly asked, "Do you want more?"

"No, I’m so full!" Melody shook her head in refusal, looking at Neal, "Neal, is there any other clothing?"

"I’ve got it prepared for you," Neal took the empty bowl from Melody’s hand, his gaze shifting to the clothes already set aside, "over there is what I had Henry prepare for you; you can change into them later. But Melody, it’s so late, don’t head back, just stay here and rest."

Melody shook her head in refusal, "No, Neal, with the baby alone at home, I don’t feel at ease."

Hearing Melody’s words, Neal immediately spoke up, "Melody, the doctor said you’re overworked, your blood sugar is low, and you fell into the lake, catching a cold; it’s better to stay here and rest well. As for the baby, you needn’t worry; I’ll handle it and bring him over now."

Melody refused, her stance clear, "Neal, it’s really not necessary. I’m fine now, so I’d better head back first."

Seeing Melody insistent on leaving, Neal no longer insisted, "Alright, but Melody, let me give you a ride, don’t refuse."

Melody nodded, "Okay."

Neal stood up, gesturing with the empty bowl in hand, "Then go change your clothes first, I’ll take the bowl back downstairs."

Melody nodded again, "Okay."

After Neal left, Melody got up and changed into the clothes Neal had prepared for her.

Black underwear and a conservative casual sports outfit.

All the clothes were brand new, and Melody fit perfectly in them.

After changing, Melody went downstairs to find Neal waiting for her in the living room.

Hearing her footsteps, Neal looked up, "Ready?"

"Yes," Melody nodded, walking towards Neal, looking at him with gratitude as she spoke, "Neal, thank you so much."
