Chapter 492 - 246: Heading to the Abyss

Chapter 492: Chapter 246: Heading to the Abyss

Vito was still quite reliable, delivering the God-source Crystals to Augustus in full, after which Augustus sent Su Linglong to the Divine Gift to hand over this enormous wealth.

With the help of the God-source Crystals, Lu Hong’s depleted vitality recovered quickly, fully replenishing in just seven days.

It was unknown how Ze Xiu got the news, but he soon came knocking.

"You came at the right time. I was just wondering how to find you."

Ze Xiu looked at Lu Hong with some surprise, "I never thought you’d recover so quickly. Got your hands on a treasure?"

"It’s a specialty of Canglan Path, God-source Crystals."

Hearing Lu Hong’s explanation, Ze Xiu was somewhat envious, "Are you on good terms with the temple? They actually sent you crystals to replenish magic power."

Ze Xiu was no stranger to the temple, but due to his profession, he had never visited. However, he knew quite a bit about the affairs of Canglan Path and had some understanding of the peculiarities of the God-source Crystals.

"Give me a few?" Ze Xiu said casually.

"No problem," Lu Hong said as he took out three from the Space Ring and stuffed them into Ze Xiu’s hand.

"You’re really giving them to me?"

"Of course," Lu Hong smiled slightly, "The fact that you could share news about saving Duo’er with me already makes me grateful. It’s just a few crystals."

Ze Xiu stared at Lu Hong carefully, then spoke after a moment, "Since that’s the case, I’ll accept them."

Having accepted Lu Hong’s gift, Ze Xiu, uncharacteristically, began informing Lu Hong of the difficulty of this mission.

"Guarding the Abyssal Hellfire is Akanon, this Demon Lord excels in the Power of Soul and was the original demon with whom Lando once signed. All of Lando’s Demon Whisperer abilities were taught by him, though Lando remains unaware."

"What do you mean by unaware?" Accompanying Ze Xiu, the two left Jinrui City and headed to a hideout of a hell cult.

"Unaware means she doesn’t know the origin of her profession. Although Lando once liked performing human experiments, she wasn’t keen on entering hell. Women, you know, find the smell of hell a bit pungent."

"Since that’s Lando’s mentor, why is this mission so difficult?"

Ze Xiu waved his hand with a bitter smile, "Perhaps it’s a case of love turning into hate. Back when Lando faced Vili, the Akanon Lord personally broke through realms to save her. In Akanon’s eyes, Lando had a very good professional compatibility and was nurtured as his successor. You should understand that hell demons view humans like livestock; even to me, I’m just a pet worthy of looking at. With that, you should understand Akanon’s regard for Lando."

Seeing Lu Hong nod, Ze Xiu continued, "Lando previously went against the Demon Lord’s will, and her actions aiding the empire’s followers angered many. The Akanon Lord, under immense pressure, managed to quell the matter. If not, I wouldn’t know how to face Lando. Once a Demon Lord issues a kill order, I must obey."

"I understand." There was no need for Ze Xiu to finish; Lu Hong had roughly gauged the difficulty of persuasion. Akanon bestowed such high hopes on Lando, yet now Lando’s soul was trapped in the abyssal fire. Akanon wasn’t incapable of saving her, he just didn’t want to.

To pay everything for someone and then be met with betrayal, who could maintain a heart of no resentment or regret?

Entering the hideout of the hell cult, the two proceeded deep underground, where a stable transmission portal had long been constructed.

Lu Hong looked at the cult experts maintaining the spatial portal around him, puzzled, "Is this transmission portal recently established?"

"Heh," Ze Xiu didn’t hide anything and said straightforwardly, "This transmission portal has been around for years, at least older than you."

"You really hid it well!" Lu Hong glanced deeply at Ze Xiu. The hell cult was once a notorious criminal organization that plagued the Sacred Empire, to the point where Danni nearly wore herself out dealing with them.

Who would have thought they could set up such a stable portal near Jinrui City? If the hell cult utilized this portal to summon a massive number of demons, they could potentially storm the Imperial Palace and kill Konstantin.

Ze Xiu also understood Lu Hong’s thoughts and smiled, "You don’t have to worry. Since I’m taking you here today, it indicates my intention to abandon it."

With that, Ze Xiu stepped in first, with Lu Hong following closely.

This transmission portal, once established, took half a year to complete. It did not connect to a shallow hell plane but rather an advanced hell plane, home to advanced demons, the weakest of whom were at the Third Transition Early Stage.

Ze Xiu and Lu Hong’s arrival didn’t cause much of a stir.

For Ze Xiu, the advanced demons living in the City of Greenfire had long grown accustomed, with one even greeting him, "Oh, isn’t it Ze Xiu? How come you have time to visit hell today?"

"Hehe, I’m here to see Lord Akanon."

Hearing Ze Xiu’s reply, the advanced demon could only offer a sheepish smile, "Alright then, we should catch up sometime!"

After sending off this advanced demon, Lu Hong curiously asked, "What does he want from you?"

"It’s nothing much; demons are quite fond of the fine wine brewed by our Human Race. He just wants to trick some wine out of me to enjoy," Ze Xiu said as he led Lu Hong deeper into the City of Greenfire, where there was a portal leading to the Abyssal Hellfire.

This city built by demons was almost indistinguishable from human cities. After all, the ancestors of demons were humans, so the higher the demon, the more human features they retained. Yet, in an ironic twist, ultimate demons had to shed their humanoid forms for powerful might, so the highest Demon Lords did not resemble humans at all, becoming enormous monstrosities, including Archimonde. Although for the most part Archimonde looked very similar to humans, this was merely an illusion, as his true form was a Barbaric Bull covered in sharp spikes, with three heads and capable of walking upright, very bizarre.

Hell also had its own currency, a green transparent Round Coin, crafted from special Crystal Stones collected and forged from hellfire by Demon Lords. No one but Demon Lords could replicate them.

Though the currency was minted by Demon Lords, the craftsmanship was crude. They issued currency merely to reduce violent thievery and were entirely ignorant of the concept of an economy, showing no concern about it.

The two walked for about an hour, entering a green castle where they tossed ten coins to the guards before the portal slowly opened.

"Once you enter the Abyssal Hellfire, you must exert your power fully to isolate the external aura. If your magic power is insufficient, let me know immediately. I will take you away, and we can return another time. That plane is very special, with extremely high temperatures. Without the protection of magic power, you would be roasted into a dried human within three minutes."

After cautioning, Ze Xiu stepped in first, covering his body with vitality, and Lu Hong followed closely.

Before setting foot, Lu Hong felt a scorching heat wave strike him; the air around him seemed aflame, and breathing was like ingesting fire.

"Can you withstand it?" Ze Xiu looked at Lu Hong, "You can get used to it before we proceed."

Ze Xiu had been here many times and didn’t find it too unbearable. The hell planes were unique, and this environment was not among the worst.

"No problem," Lu Hong waved his hand, signaling Ze Xiu to lead the way.

"The journey is quite long; if you can’t persist, you must inform me."

Apart from Demon Lord Akanon, the Abyssal Hellfire was uninhabited by any other demons, so no convenient portal was available for use; the only way to find Akanon was on foot.

This journey would last a month.

Meanwhile, major events frequently erupted on the side of the Divine Gift, not because of sea tribe invasions but because the major local powers of Divine Gift actually sat down together for a chat, a first in Divine Gift’s history.

However, their target was not Konstantin but Lu Hong.

Unfortunately, Lu Hong was deep in hell, so Eferot left empty-handed. After delivering a batch of medical supplies, he departed from the Sacred Empire with the orc honor guard.

Bu Sheng temporarily took up residence in Jinrui City since the Snow Region Sword Saint still had two and a half months before coming out. Naturally, it was best to wait for Lu Hong.

Through the tripartite talks, Divine Gift’s peace agreement was finally signed, so the Sacred Empire no longer had to divide its forces to guard against the Beastman Empire and could redirect its last reserve troop to the maritime defense line. Additionally, during this meeting, the Sacred Empire established a deep partnership with the Snowy Region and built seven dual-direction portals for mutual support against sea tribes.

Besides that, the seven million-strong army of the Eagle Alliance also marched grandiosely into Divine Gift, taking orders from Qing Ling’s coordination, with Earl Sina assisting. Although this force wasn’t of the highest caliber, it was much stronger than the other low-plane reinforcements.
