Chapter 491 - 245: Infighting

Chapter 491: Chapter 245: Infighting

Nathias led his dispirited Black Sea clan in a hasty escape back to the deep sea, marking his most stifling battle since his release from imprisonment in the North Sea. At one time, their clan had dominated the entire ocean; had it not been for the interference of the Naga Queen herself, they would’ve undoubtedly been the preeminent power among the myriad sea races.

"Everyone, back to rest and recuperate!" Nathias dismissed his soldiers and plunged headfirst into the council hall.

The council hall was already filled with leaders from various races, who looked upon Nathias with disdain and mockery.

"Nathias, didn’t you boast that your Black Nagas alone could topple the empire? Then why have you fled back here in such a sorry state?" The Whale Shark Clan Leader, Heichi, was the first to verbally attack.

Nathias didn’t respond but glared coldly at the other party. These sea races had merely stood by and watched the Black Sea clan face resistance, now they were here to mock.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became!

Nathias was already known for his temper, and, raging with fury, he kicked Heichi.

Of course, Heichi was prepared, his magic power surged, and he raised his arm to block the attack.

Nathias smirked coldly and put even more strength into his foot.

This time, Heichi couldn’t block it and was sent tumbling away.

Not yet satisfied after knocking over Heichi, Nathias grabbed the trident and stabbed down.

Heichi was shocked, and his friends beside him also came to his aid, attempting to fend off Nathias.

"Get out of my way!" Nathias let out a fierce shout, and magic power burst forth from his body, toppling everyone. In the face of absolute power, all resistance was futile.

Having dealt with the obstructions, Nathias thrust his trident decisively, and Heichi exploded with all his might, trying to resist.

Sadly, Nathias was really too powerful; he suppressed Heichi with just his magic power, rendering him unable to move.

One must know that when the empire had previously set out to deal with Nathias, they had dispatched no fewer than twelve top fighters who hadn’t even dared to launch a full-on assault; their mission had been solely to detain him.

At that moment, an explosive shout came from behind: "What are you doing?!"

As the words rang out, the Sea God Trident, as if answering a summons, broke free from Nathias’s control and flew into the hands of the person behind him.

With his weapon taken, Nathias had to give up on killing Heichi. He knocked Heichi unconscious with a kick, turned around with a smile, and said, "My dear brother, what brings you back?"

"Do you really wish to kill your own kin with the sea races’ divine artifact?" Nathias said with a cold huff.

"Oh, look at what you’re saying." Nathias shrugged and explained, "I was just joking with them. Don’t take it seriously."

Nathias knew how troublesome his opponent was and didn’t linger on the subject, instead asking, "How severe are the Black Nagas’ losses this time?"

"Many, more than half," Nathias didn’t hide it and gritted his teeth, "I really don’t know what that human is capable of; he managed to unleash power not inferior to mine."

"I’ve warned you to be wary of that man before, but you wouldn’t listen. Whose fault is that?" Nathias scoffed.

"Hmph! His tricks are few; as long as I come up with a countermeasure, I will definitely be able to take down the human empire," Nathias was not intimidated by the three moves displayed by Lu Hong.

"By the way, have you exterminated those traitorous sea demon beasts?"

In response to Nathias’s question, Nathias shook his head, "The four ocean overlords still possess considerable strength; without the Trident to aid me, I can’t dispose of them."

"What a shame," Nathias said, "In that case, how about this: you hand over that group of traitors to me, and I’ll take care of them for you."

"No!"

Nathias immediately rejected the suggestion, "The sea demon beasts are still members of our sea race and are under the protection of the Sea God. If we exterminate them completely, we will surely incur the Sea God’s punishment."

"Tch!" Nathias made a face, "Never mind, it’s boring. I’m going to sleep. Whatever plans you have next, just go ahead and arrange them; I’ll agree to anything."

Watching Nathias leave, Nathias breathed a sigh of relief at his departure. He now somewhat regretted having released these Black Nagas from their North Sea prison; these unruly fellows were too warlike. Even before attacking the human empire, they had already caused a bloodbath among their own kind, annihilating the guardian Shrimp clan to the last member.

If not for the greater cause of the sea races, Nathias would have really liked to lock them up again.

But would a lion released from its cage willingly return to it?

Clearly, that was impossible.

After Nathias left, many sea race authorities began complaining to Nathias, "Why did you let them out from the North Sea? Isn’t this a disaster for us? When the Queen finishes her closed-door cultivation, I’ll definitely file a formal complaint against you!"

Nathias looked coldly at the clamoring clan leaders and commanded in a resonant voice, "Scram!"

He was only bothered to come and investigate because there were no signs of combat in the council hall, "I’m going to see Her Majesty the Queen. You all disperse!"

Exiting the council hall, Nathias headed straight for the Naga Queen’s place of retreat.

When he arrived at the crystal gate, Nathias knelt on one knee, "Respected Your Majesty, your loyal servant has come to pay respects!"

"Come in."

Soon after, the Naga Queen’s voice sounded from within the crystal door, and a gap opened up in the crystal gate. Nathias walked through.

The current state of the Naga Queen was not good. Taking a hit from Lu Hong was one thing, but she was ambushed by Caesar and seriously wounded!

Caesar truly made it to the depths of the ocean, and following the direction given by Lu Hong, successfully found the Naga Queen.

A fierce battle unfolded, and just as Lu Hong said, the sea gods did not make a move against Caesar again. As a result, Caesar fought very smoothly, forcing the Naga Queen to flee in all directions.

With no other choice, the Naga Queen led Caesar to the ends of the sea, where with a great sacrifice, she successfully decoyed him into the hidden world beyond.

From then on, Caesar completely vanished from the Continent of God’s Grace, searching for a way back in another world.

Although she rid herself of Caesar, the Naga Queen was so gravely injured that she needed time to recover, and so went into hiding, delegating authority to Nathias.

Under the influence of the corrupt and evil atmosphere of another world, the Naga Queen chose to enter a deep and impenetrable retreat.

This was also why Nathias released his own brother and the Black Naga clan. He worried for the Queen’s safety and feared the humans’ retaliation. Thus, he withstood the pressure and sought his brother’s support.

"Your Majesty, I am at fault," Nathias knelt before the Naga Queen, whose vitality was diminished.

The Naga Queen struggled to lift her arm and gently touched Nathias’s shoulder, murmuring softly, "No, you are not wrong. I entrusted you with full authority over our sea race’s affairs. If there is a fault, it is mine."

Seeing the Naga Queen take the blame into herself, Nathias immediately burst into tears.

"Don’t cry, child. Our sea race is not fit for continued combat. The ranks have suffered greatly during this time and need a period to recuperate, as do I. If the human race does not initiate an attack, we too shall hold our forces and wait. Once this period is over, I will lead you personally to reclaim our sea race’s glory."

Just then, the voice of Nathias came from outside the crystal door, "Your Majesty, are you there?"

Nathias’s face changed. He had strictly kept the location of the Queen’s hiding place secret, fearing his brother might offend her, but unexpectedly, his brother had found his way here.

"Your Majesty!" Nathias, as if facing a formidable enemy, quickly stood up and positioned himself in front of the Naga Queen.

"Are you not there?" Without getting a response, Nathias, charged with magic power, smashed the crystal gate with a punch and sauntered into the hall.

Glimpsing the weakened Naga Queen, he couldn’t help but reveal a bloodthirsty and malicious grin, "My Queen, what has become of you? Why are you so feeble?"

"Nathias! What do you intend to do?!" Nathias held up the Sea God Trident, frantically channeling magic power into it, ready to attack at the slightest movement from the other.

"My dear brother, what are you doing?" Nathias was quite displeased with Nathias’s guard, "Do you think I would assassinate the Queen?"

"Hmph!"

"The Queen is our mother. Who would think of killing their own mother?" Nathias said to himself, but then his tone shifted as he turned to question the Naga Queen, "Yet I’ve heard that by consuming your heart, one can become a new Demigod and rule over our sea race. Is that so? My beloved mother!"

"Yes," the Naga Queen replied, her expression unchanged.

Although this answer clearly caught Nathias off guard, he paused, then looked at the Naga Queen with a deeper meaning, and said gravely, "My Queen, to be honest, I despise you. Do you have any idea how cold the North Sea is?"

"I know, but even if I had another chance, I would still banish you there."

"Hahaha, Hahaha!" Nathias laughed heartily, then, without a backward glance, turned and walked away.
