Chapter 470: Chapter 223: Hunting (Part Three)
Compared to the discomfort Balpu was experiencing, Lu Hong was also not having an easy time.
Dashing through the woods, Lu Hong was pursued by nearly twenty Third Transition powerhouses.
Multicolored magic power erupted continuously among the trees, exploding beside Lu Hong, adding countless difficulties to his escape.
There was some good news, though. Judging from the strength of the skills unleashed by these professionals, there weren’t any late Third Transition powerhouses, at most they were at the eighth level of the Second Transition.
He could kill them, but a quick battle wouldn’t be so realistic.
The sprinting Lu Hong felt some regret that he hadn’t slain Balpu with a single blow and then immediately escaped; instead, he had exposed his own position.
Now was not the time to savor combat; he had to penetrate deeper into the mountains as soon as possible. Even if killing was necessary, it had to be done away from the enemy’s main force, otherwise being surrounded would become a matter of sooner or later.
The chase continued for an entire day and night, and who knows how many signals those people had sent. Lapike was also believed to be pursuing this way. As for how long it would take to catch up, Lu Hong was waiting.
Moments later, a pale blue light radiated from the pin tucked behind his ear.
The voice of the Space Grand Mage transmitted from within, "Lapike killed Balpu and is now chasing in your direction following the marks. It will take about two and a half hours to get there."
"What about the other pursuers?" Lu Hong dodged one magical assault after another, his tone calm and unrippled.
"In about two hours, a small team of thirty people will attempt to encircle you from behind. As for others, I am not too sure. Lapike did not equip everyone with my communication devices."
"That’s enough. Continue monitoring and inform me immediately of any changes." Lu Hong ended the communication proactively. After a day’s mad run, he finally gained some distance from the reinforcements and had a chance for a fierce battle.
Lu Hong gradually slowed down, and the nineteen pursuers finally let out a breath of relief.
It had to be said that Lu Hong’s running speed was simply too fast. To avoid losing him, these nineteen individuals had maxed out their efforts, sparing no magic power to maintain the distance.
Had Lu Hong continued to flee, they might have indeed lost him.
"Draw the bow!"
As the distance closed, Lapike’s men finally had the opportunity to unleash their powerful skills.
A huge heavy bow taller than a man thudded into the ground, and a dark-skinned strong man took a deep breath, his fingertip on the bowstring. As magic power surged continuously, a pure gold arrow slowly condensed.
As the bowstring was pulled back bit by bit, fierce winds whipped up within a ten-mile radius, the arrow becoming like the eye of a storm, swirling a ferocious gale.
The dark man locked onto Lu Hong fixedly, the bow fully drawn, and a sharp arrow shot forth.
The arrow was incredibly fast, crossing a kilometer in the blink of an eye and closing in on Lu Hong within a hundred yards.
Sensing the threat of the skill behind him, Lu Hong stopped holding back and divine light descended.
He turned and grabbed the arrow made purely of magic power with one hand.
"How is that possible?!" The dark man was shocked. He knew very well the potency of his skill; for someone to catch it so effortlessly, it was the first time he’d seen such a thing in his life.
The divine light was gentle yet possessed a bizarre strength. The arrow in Lu Hong’s palm dissipated bit by bit, creating not the slightest ripple.
"Mage, please cut off their communication devices."
"Just these people nearest to you? Understood!"
Lu Hong prepared to strike and couldn’t let a single one escape—the trump card of magic immunity was to be kept hidden for as long as possible.
"You bastard, did you not eat?!" A comrade of the dark man complained irritably and then charged at Lu Hong, weapon in hand.
This time, Lu Hong didn’t continue to flee, calling forth the Blood Holy Sword to meet them head-on.
As the power of Blood Qi continuously infused into it, the Blood Holy Sword gradually liquefied, sheathing cold lights of bloodthirst. The skill sealed within was also activated once again.
Heaven Slaying!
"There’s something odd about this kid! Be careful!" As Third Transition powerhouses, their insight was ultimately not poor.
When a hundred-yard blood-colored giantsword fell from the sky, they were destined to be forced to defend.
With this attack, Lu Hong exerted his full strength, targeting what appeared to be the highest-level enemy.
With an earth-shattering roar, the ground cracked inch by inch, and the man targeted by the blood sword didn’t even have a chance to cry out before turning into bloody water, merging into Lu Hong’s body.
"He killed Hat Brother?!"
"F*ck! Let’s fight him!"
"After such a big move, he must be lacking in strength. Let’s go at him together, kill him!"
After their initial terror, the remaining eighteen charged at Lu Hong with murderous looks.
Instantly, dozens of magic power skills stirred and attacked.
Clearly, these magic power skills could not inflict any damage on Lu Hong.
The distance between the two sides was shortened again in a short time.
With the exceptionally high agility honed in the second trial, Lu Hong beheaded two men in an instant, sending them to their deaths.
Witnessing this, the others’ complexions changed yet again, not expecting the opponent to be so formidable in close combat.
They immediately altered their tactics, surrounding Lu Hong in the center and swarmed him, denying him any chance for one-on-one kills.
Thus, the battle waged on for nearly half an hour. Although Lu Hong was at full evasive capability, he still suffered several sword wounds, the most dangerous attack missing his heart by a mere inch.
Yet, these were not enough to defeat Lu Hong; instead, they further fueled his aggressive spirit.
Bolstered by the Bloodthirst empowering, Lu Hong could fight for another three days without feeling fatigued, but that was not the case for Rapick’s subordinates. Their pursuit had depleted some of their magic power, and continuously casting skills while hunting him down had drained them further. An hour of combat led the remaining strongmen to gradually hit rock bottom.
"This kid is tricky; we just need to hold him off until the boss arrives!" gasped one of the strongmen, continuously stepping back after being cleft by Lu Hong’s sword.
"Outlast?" Lu Hong chuckled: "Do you still have the stamina?"
Before his words fell, he unleashed a top-tier Blood Qi Shockwave.
Rapick’s men mustered all their strength to block the strike, but Lu Hong gave them no respite, as a Blood River cascaded down from the sky.
"Blood Transverse Sky!"
The follow-up skill caught the group off guard, revealing their weaknesses.
Seizing the opportunity, Lu Hong’s figure flickered, claiming six more heads in the process.
The remaining ten men turned pale, realizing the grim truth: they were no match for this foe...
"Escape!"
The ten men decided to flee, but Lu Hong was not about to give them the chance, grasping the Steel Holy Sword in his hands.
"War Fortress!"
This time, the fortress was not for defense but for trapping.
A colossal fortress materialized out of nowhere, encircling the men, though one strongman managed to escape the confines of the fortress through the advantage of his skill.
Lu Hong’s expression darkened as the Blood Holy Sword once again graced his hands, massacring the nine trapped individuals.
Three minutes later, Lu Hong dispelled the fortress and dashed toward the escaping enemy.
The individual, drained of significant magic power, was not fast. Within a minute, Lu Hong had caught up to him.
"You..." Clearly, he had not expected Lu Hong to kill so swiftly. Overcome by rage and impotence, he had no choice but to continue fleeing, hoping to stumble upon an ally to save his life.
"You won’t get away!" Lu Hong’s gaze flickered, increasing his speed in a breath. The Blood Holy Sword cleaved through the sky as the Blood River descended sharply.
The fleeing strongman was so terrified by the imposing aura that he cursed his parents for not giving him more legs.
Just then, two blurry figures suddenly appeared in the woods.
Seizing a glimmer of hope, the strongman cried out: "Save..."
Unfortunately, he was split in two by a blood-colored Sword Qi before he could finish speaking.
Liu Mei and Liu Wushuang had been searching for a long time in the mountains, led by the turbulence of battle to this spot. Looking up to witness a live cleaving shocked them considerably.
Liu Wushuang stepped forward, despite his fear. As the elder brother, he had to protect Liu Mei.
"Who?!" Liu Wushuang summoned his courage and shouted: "I am a descendant of the East Victory Liu Family. Please, grant us passage."
Hearing the noise, Lu Hong emerged from the dense forest, his powerful aura receding as he approached with a smile: "We meet again."
"It’s you?!" Liu Mei’s eyes widened. Although she had some guess about the bloody skills just then, she did not dare to confirm it, for many professions possessed Blood Power.
"Indeed, what a coincidence."
As Liu Mei observed the bloodstains peeking through Lu Hong’s tattered clothing, her expression turned strange, mixed with indecision: "You... are you alright?"
"I’m fine." Lu Hong’s expression changed as he listened to the message from the Space Mage in his ear, then said to the two: "You’d better leave quickly, many strongmen are on their way. I need to leave first."
"Hey, hey..." Before Liu Mei could speak, Lu Hong had already disappeared.
After Lu Hong left, the siblings faced the devastated corpses in silence.
Liu Wushuang broke the silence first: "Sister, my wild guess before might actually be true."
"It seems... yes," Liu Mei said with a complicated look. She seemed to have truly misunderstood Lu Hong earlier, which filled her with guilt.
"But things will get even more difficult for him," Liu Wushuang sighed: "Seeing the bodies, the ones who ordered his death will not allow their men to be isolated anymore. Once they pair up, killing them will become much more difficult, and if those people coordinate from a distance, even the strong Tu GuLu will face an inescapable fate."
"Brother," Liu Mei said solemnly: "We have to help him!"
"How can we help?" Liu Wushuang shook his head: "Have you lost your mind? This dead man, I’ve seen him, he’s one of Rapick’s subordinates from the seventh trial. You know of Rapick, he stands with Blood Eagle and Bapu in dividing the seventh trial’s power. He’s formidable, and we’re no match for him."
Liu Mei bit her lip, her face pale in the moonlight. She felt she had to do something for Lu Hong to make up for her previous mistakes.
