Chapter 469: Chapter 222: Hunting (Part 2)

To ensure that the Space Mage wouldn’t betray him, Lu Hong made him swear a Heavenly God oath for an hour.

"What having a son without an anus means, doing anything threatening his own life would rot his lineage," etc., were all forced out of the mage by Lu Hong.

Finally, under the mage’s resentful gaze, Lu Hong retracted his hand from the mage’s neck and withdrew his Heavenly God descended state.

"Come, come, get up, from now on we are friends," Lu Hong said with a smile, helping the mage up. "You’re safe now, when you return to the city later, I trust you know what to do."

The Space Mage gave a wry smile, "Do you really intend to make a move on the Heavenly God trialists?"

"They aim to seize the Heavenly Child Command; they should be aware of the consequences."

"Aren’t you afraid of being hunted down by all of Heavenly God’s path?" According to the task Lu Hong gave him, he had to lure batches of strong individuals into this mountain range, using the gifted communication devices to secretly provide Lu Hong with their location and eventually lead Lu Hong to eliminate them one by one.

"Why would Heavenly God’s path hunt me down?" Lu Hong shook his head, unconcerned.

"Now is a critical time; if you slaughter too many of Heavenly God’s strong ones, those more righteous people might not be able to restrain themselves from making a move on you," the Space Mage detailed the current occupation of the Heavenly God’s path by invaders.

After hearing the lengthy explanation, Lu Hong fell into brief contemplation. An invasion was not necessarily a bad thing for Lu Hong, but he had not yet passed the fourth level and he was currently hesitant to try, as there was a city built outside the fourth level, inhabited by numerous trialists; without the deterrence of the temple, they might unite and attack Lu Hong. As it stood, passing the fourth level seemed impractical.

After discussing with the Space Mage for a while longer, Lu Hong sensed a large number of trialists approaching and after giving some final instructions to the mage, turned and retreated deeper into the mountain range.

Moments later, a group of strong individuals saw the Space Mage and crowded around him asking, "Who are you?"

"Me? I was invited by Babu to help," the Space Mage replied calmly and with pride. Without absolute suppression through magic immunity, he did not consider this brute group a threat; unable to defeat them, but confident he could escape.

"Babu?" The leader’s face turned grim, surprised to find someone had gotten there first. "It seems like you’re planning to return to the city? Does it mean Babu has already succeeded?"

The Space Mage shook his head, "That kid’s tricky. Babu lost quite a few people, not even able to track him down. If it weren’t for my space communication device, his entire force would have been annihilated by now."

Hearing the mage’s words, the leader’s eyes lit up, then asked, "Then why are you leaving Babu to return to the city?"

Faced with the question, the Space Mage remained calm, lightly saying, "I was only invited to help; I have no need to risk my life (in fact, I nearly lost it), and besides, the communication devices that can be used in Heavenly God’s path are very expensive. Babu’s men died without a trace, not even bodies to be found; how can I retrieve those devices? I made Babu compensate for the losses, but he disagreed; do you think I shouldn’t return?"

"Heh heh, Mage sir, you’re right, minimizing losses, very well done."

"Are we done with the questions?" The Space Mage glanced around at the strong individuals encircling him and said, "Please excuse me, I have to go, thank you! Oh, and one more friendly reminder, the target you are planning to seize is quite capable, you better be careful."

"Wait!" Seeing the Space Mage about to leave, the leader quickly stopped him, clearly enticed by the space communication devices mentioned earlier. After all, the mountain range was vast, and if the battle’s fluctuations were deliberately limited, it would be hard to detect. In such a massive mountain range group, they could not search without dispersing, so having a communication device was essential.

"What do you want?" The Space Mage hummed coldly, but inside he was elated; they had taken the bait!

"That, uh, the space communication devices you mentioned, could you sell us some?"

"You want to buy?" The Space Mage feigned confusion, looking at him, "They’re very expensive."

"No worries, just name your price."

"One million Gold Coins each, not that I’m inflating the price, there are some rare components inside, difficult to procure; this price is already cost price, I haven’t even included my labor costs."

"One million?" The leader calculated a bit; he had brought over a hundred Third Transition strong individuals, it would cost over a hundred million if each were given one—a huge expense! Even if they shared one between two, it would still be hard to afford.

After a moment, the leader spoke, "Can you sell me twenty?"

"No problem." The Space Mage opened his portable space bag, took out a pile of devices that looked like safety pins, and began, "Here are the communication devices, keep them well. They’re very simple to use, just channel your magic power and speak to them; the message will not be transmitted one-to-one, anyone using these devices will hear."

"Can Babu hear them?"

"No, they’re using a different set, cheaper ones, only I can activate them."

The leader chuckled. By comparison, he had gained an advantage over Babu, a good start.

As he watched the group of powerful warriors leave, the Space Mage activated his magic power and aimed at the communication device, "There are a total of 103 people on the other side, with the leader seeming to be a late Third Transition powerhouse. They will likely act separately, and every hour, I will send their locations to you. If you want to know in advance, just contact me."

As the voice transmitted, Lu Hong’s voice resonated from within, "Received."

During the conversation, the clashing of weapons could be heard.

It wasn’t hard to guess that Lu Hong was already in combat with Bapu.

Bapu, a late Third Transition powerhouse, was considered a formidable force in the Path of Strength.

Initially, Lu Hong wanted to use the same method he used on the juniors to suppress Bapu directly, but unfortunately, Bapu’s perceptive abilities were extremely strong, denying Lu Hong any chance for a stealth attack, so the two of them ended up fighting intensely.

Empowered by the might of Bloodthirst, Lu Hong’s combat abilities broke through repeatedly. With the support of his overwhelming vigor, each of Lu Hong’s strikes carried the sound of thunder, and Bapu, with his profound foundation, was not intimidated by this pressure and fought Lu Hong evenly.

"Good skills, no wonder you killed so many of my brothers." Bapu lifted his Heavy Sword and smashed it down.

Lu Hong raised his sword to block firmly, the colliding weapons generating a massive shockwave that shattered the vegetation around them.

It seemed Lu Hong couldn’t defeat Bapu quickly. Thinking of the approaching enemies, Lu Hong considered retreating.

Bapu discerned Lu Hong’s intentions, "Thinking of running? Return my brothers’ lives first!"

He chased after Lu Hong, hurling his Heavy Sword, from which countless earth serpents emerged from the ground, clinging to the blade.

Bapu’s magic power surged, and he uttered lowly, "Earth Dragon, Rock Shatter Kill!"

This was a major Earth Skill of the Phantom Demon Emperor class, and Bapu was particularly adept at Earth element, which was why he could contend with Lu Hong in strength.

The Earth Dragon formed by the Heavy Sword moved swiftly and caught up with the fleeing Lu Hong in a blink of an eye.

"Kill!"

Following Bapu’s command, the Earth Dragon launched a frenzied assault at Lu Hong.

Lu Hong glanced coldly, and under the surge of his qi and blood, a blood-red savage beast roared out of the void, smashing into the side of the Earth Dragon and breaking it in half.

"Fuck?!" The sudden attack startled Bapu, and the backlash of the skill quickly made his face pale as he forcibly swallowed down a mouthful of old blood.

This kid is strong... Bapu was taken aback by Lu Hong’s unexpected move and didn’t dare to pursue further.

Yet a problem arose, why would such a formidable opponent choose to run?

With a frown, Bapu suddenly seemed to realize something and urgently decided to retreat, but it was too late as several dozen Third Transition powerhouses had already surrounded him.

"Bapu, long time no see." The man was the one who had purchased the communication device from the Space Mage.

"Lapik," Bapu’s expression turned grave, "Tukulu just escaped from me not long ago, you might still catch him if you hurry."

The man had frequent conflicts with him, more a foe than a friend, so Bapu had no choice but to divert attention, hoping to escape this predicament.

Lapik chuckled, "Don’t worry, my men are already chasing after him, and as for you... I’m also here to kill you!"

"Let’s see if you have the ability!" Bapu snorted coldly, pushing his magic power to the limit.

"Rumor has it that Mr. Bapu can summon a Heavenly God artifact—the Yellow Armor, I’ve never had the chance to spar with you, today is a good day to experience it!" Lapik drew his weapon, and the dozens of powerful warriors around him also drew theirs, stirring the magic power and changing the very atmosphere.

Bapu’s expression darkened as he growled lowly, "Lapik! Do you dare to face me in a one-on-one duel?"

"Dare, why wouldn’t I?" Lapik sneered, "You alone against all of us!"

Bapu: Dammit... Fucking bastards!
