Chapter 446: Chapter 200 The Origin of Cairo
The gaze from the true dragon made Lu Hong feel as if he were drowning, filled with the illusion of suffocation.
"Father?!" The call of the true dragon came again; this time, the voice was tinged with anger. Cain, already injured, could no longer withstand it and passed out on the spot. Lord of the Night Extreme Star also couldn’t bear the pressure from the true dragon and, dragging Cain, turned to escape. Although the true dragon’s eyes were large, the object of its focus wasn’t hard to discern.
As for why the true dragon called the Baron "father," the Lord of the Night Extreme Star didn’t want to know—he just wanted to survive.
As for Lu Hong, who was targeted by the true dragon, his scalp tingled as the deterrence from the dragon’s chant made blood flow from his seven orifices, and his consciousness once again edged towards unconsciousness.
Logically, the true dragon must have sensed the Ancestor Dragon’s soul slumbering within Lu Hong’s body. The Ancestor Dragon was the progenitor of all dragons, possessing terrifying and extremely powerful strength. This true dragon was among the first batch of dragons created by the Ancestor Dragon, one of its closest sons, inheriting the Ancestor Dragon’s most perfect ability—the powerful Giant Spirit, with the secondary power of Wind Dominion paling in comparison.
The dragon’s eyes that locked onto Lu Hong once again confirmed the Ancestor Dragon’s presence, and he growled lowly, "It is indeed you! My revered father!"
Although the true dragon didn’t understand why the soul of its own father would be inside a weak human, it didn’t prevent him from interpreting this as the weak human having poisoned his father.
"Despicable human! Why do you possess a strand of my father’s soul! Damn it! Damn it!" The true dragon raged, its dragon claw fiercely smashing towards the Ophiuchus realm.
If this massive dragon claw were to come down, the Ophiuchus realm would cease to exist.
Lu Hong wanted to explain, but under the true dragon’s oppressive force, he found it difficult even to breathe, let alone speak a complete sentence.
Just then, struggle appeared within the true dragon’s eyes, followed by a look of confusion, and the roaring claw stopped above the Ophiuchus realm, not coming down after all.
The pressure from the true dragon also completely dissipated, and Lu Hong collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
Moments later, the dragon’s eyes brightened again, but this time it was the voice of West that came through, "Baron, it seems... you’ve also hidden some earth-shattering secret?"
"Is it you?" Lu Hong’s expression changed slightly—was this the plan of the Cairo family? To dominate the soul of the true dragon?
"It is I, for now, I and the true dragon’s spirit are merged into one, henceforth the true dragon is me, and I am the true dragon!" West said with an ambitious tone, "From this day on, beneath the gods, I too am invincible!"
"What plans do you have next, then?" asked Lu Hong in a grave voice.
West looked at him as if in jest, "Don’t worry, I’m not interested in the Star Sea."
West seemed to be equally uninterested in the secret within Lu Hong’s body, not dwelling on the matter. The plan having been successfully completed, West was in a particularly good mood, so he began to chat with Lu Hong, "Do you know the origin of my Cairo family?"
Of course, Lu Hong didn’t know, but West didn’t wait for an answer, continuing, "The roots of my Cairo family are not in the Star Sea but in a distant star domain. The annals of my family record everything that happened initially. The Ancestor Dragon, Gu Yi, played in the Star Sea and felt the call of a Heavenly God’s will, thus establishing a connection. They hit it off and enjoyed deep conversations. Hence, Gu Yi invited the Heavenly God to visit his world, and the Heavenly God readily agreed. They worked together to build a portal, and that was the first time a god from the star domain set foot in the Star Sea. My ancestor had no greedy intentions, but his action of crossing the boundary was perceived by other gods in the star domain, who then pressured the ancestor to hand over the portal to assist in their conquest of the Star Sea.
My ancestor refused their demands, which provoked the wrath of the gods in the star domain. They vented their fury upon the Cairo family, and my ancestor was forced to lead the clan to relocate to the Star Sea, seeking Gu Yi’s protection. Gu Yi readily agreed, but his act of communication with the star domain was deemed betrayal by the gods of the Star Sea. Thus, on the day the Cairo family crossed over, they ambushed Gu Yi and my ancestor. In that battle, my ancestor died, we lost control of the portal, and the gods of the star domain seized the opportunity to cross over, sparking a titanic war with the gods of the Star Sea. Eventually, the Star Sea gods were victorious, expelling the invaders, yet the portal was permanently solidified in the chaos of the battle. Gu Yi, seeking to atone for the oversight, filled the gateway himself, sealing the path between the two realms. As for the Cairo forebears, most perished in this godly conflict, with only a few surviving clandestinely in the Star Sea."
Having heard West’s tale, Lu Hong had a clearer picture of why the other party had no interest in the Star Sea—his goal was to return to his homeland. If not for the pressure from the native forces in the star domain, why would the Cairo family need to travel far from home and nearly face clan extermination?
"The portal you mentioned..." Quickly, Lu Hong latched on to another crucial point.
"Yes, that portal is still operational," West said with a smile, "Its connection leads directly to the Cairo family’s ancestral land. I will not threaten the Star Sea, but instead, I will serve as the Star Sea’s first barrier against the star domain. Baron, it would be in your best interest to hope for success in the Cairo family’s revenge. Otherwise, the Empire will face threats from the star domain. Of course, if you are able to repel the Naga Sea tribe, I am still quite willing to establish an alliance of equals with the Sacred Empire. After all, this land has also sustained the Cairo family. It is not our homeland, but it has been kind to our clan."
With that said, West, controlling the Ancestor Dragon Gu Yi, left Ophiuchus, turning towards the massive rift exposed after the collapse of the Dragon Pool. As the true dragon’s power surged, the portal slowly lit up with a beautiful and dazzling blue light. The true dragon roared, diving in, and eventually disappeared into the vast Star Sea.
Staring at the place where the Ancestor Dragon Gu Yi vanished, a war of unprecedented scale was about to erupt on the other side of the stars. Although Lu Hong wasn’t clear about the final outcome for the dragon pool’s three great clans, he was certain that the Cairo family’s return to the star domain meant they were thoroughly prepared. The family of Pasa had submitted; around Dragon Pool, more than thirty familial realms had simultaneously vanished. The consolidated force was not to be underestimated.
Wester had kept his promise and did not wreak havoc on the Star Sea, and Lu Hong had a pretty good impression of him, "I wish you success."
Withdrawing his gaze, Lu Hong looked down at the twitching, unconscious Xie’an, shaking his Space Ring, "Holy King, are you done fighting? Come out and give me a hand." Healing was something that needed a professional.
Seeing that the Holy King did not respond for a long time, Lu Hong then probed into the ring with his consciousness. Well, under the pressure of the true dragon, both the Holy King and the Slaughter Demon Armor’s Artifact Spirit had fainted a long time ago, their struggling souls entwined into a mess, probably still undetermined in their battle.
Shaking his head, Lu Hong quickly wiped the fresh blood from his face, adjusted his breathing, then picked up Xie’an and threw him into the house before heading toward the kitchen, hoping that Lina was still conscious.
Entering the kitchen gave Lu Hong a big scare, poor Lina’s head was submerged in a boiling pot, nearly cooked.
Pulling Lina out of the pot, the once delicate face now swollen like a pig’s head, he checked her breath, which was still stable—not bad for a Holy Knight, quite thick-skinned.
Looking at Lina in this state, Lu Hong couldn’t help but laugh out loud, which caused his not-yet-stable orifices to bleed again.
Cain came in at an inopportune time and, seeing Lina in Lu Hong’s arms, exploded with rage, bellowing, "You lecher! Put my disciple down now!"
"Hey, hey, old man, take a good look. If I’d been late, your disciple would’ve been cooked in the pot by now."
"What?" Cain took a closer look, and almost died of fright at the sight of the swollen pig-like head, "She wouldn’t be in this state if it weren’t for you! Get out of the way and stop harassing my disciple!"
Rushing forward, Cain forcefully shoved Lu Hong aside.
"Fine, fine, I won’t intervene," Lu Hong dodged Cain, "Where’s the Star Lord?"
"Don’t ask me, find him yourself," Cain snorted coldly, then took out a precious Magic Potion from his Space Ring and stuffed it into Lina’s mouth.
Stepping out of the back courtyard, the Night Supreme God approached Lu Hong first, "Why did that true dragon come looking for you?"
"It might be because I have a strand of the Ancestor Dragon’s soul inside me," Lu Hong didn’t fabricate any lies; anyway, a mere dragon soul couldn’t make much of a difference.
"Ancestor Dragon?"
The mention of the Ancestor Dragon seemed to hit a knowledge gap for the Night Supreme God, who looked puzzled, "What is that?"
"Do you know about Great Snow Mountain in the center of the Continent of God’s Grace?"
"I’ve heard of it. They say there’s an ancient true dragon living at the summit. Is the Ancestor Dragon that ancient true dragon?" The Night Supreme God’s eyes widened.
"Yes, the Ancestor Dragon is the first dragon born within the Star Sea, the progenitor of all dragons, and thus is called the Ancestor Dragon."
"Is it a god-level Demon Beast?" The Night Supreme God’s eyes shone with fascination; he had heard countless legends of Heavenly Gods but had never seen a true god-level power in his life and longed for it immensely.
"No," Lu Hong shook his head.
"Ah? So the true dragon that just resurrected isn’t a god-level Demon Beast either?" The Night Supreme God momentarily paused, expressing skepticism at Lu Hong’s response.
"Right." Lu Hong continued, "Logically, since the Ancestor Dragon is not god-level, its offspring also shouldn’t exceed this limit, but that doesn’t stop them from possessing combat power that surpasses ordinary Heavenly Gods."
Hearing Lu Hong’s explanation made the Night Supreme God show some astonishment, "You seem to understand a lot about Heavenly Gods?"
"It’s alright," Lu Hong chuckled but did not continue the conversation.
