Chapter 106: Chapter 104: The Second Young Master of Tongcheng

"So, the Kangre family is rich, huh?"

Through his conversation with this demoness, Lu Hong had also roughly grasped the current situation of Tong City.

The Kangre family she belonged to was not only one of the top wealthy families in Tong City but, indeed, in the entire demon domain. The family held half of the demon economy in their hands, and it was no exaggeration to say that if the Kangre family were to collapse, the demon economy would regress decades.

However, in the wilderness, strength was respected above all else. Without money, one could simply rob others. Hence, although the Kangre family was wealthy, they were not valued by Demon King Yan, and true demon powerhouses did not care about trifling money, as they considered mundane possessions less valuable than dirt.

"You say you’re the sole daughter of the Kangre family head?" Lu Hong glanced at the woman. The difference between the demon race and humans was not particularly significant, the most noticeable distinction being the skin color—the demons’ skin was almost pale, and their blood was purple, with veins extremely close to the surface of the skin, following slender vessels very close to the surface along the neck, climbing up from the side of the face. Yet, this appearance endowed the demoness with an extremely eerie kind of beauty.

"Of course, with my unparalleled beauty, isn’t my identity obvious?" The woman was clearly very confident in herself, and although she had not freed her bound hands, she stood proudly with her bosom raised invitingly.

"I don’t see it." Even if the woman was beautiful, Lu Hong was unmoved. He already had Danni, and the relationships with the unclear Lando, Lois, and Nono were enough. He had no desire to get involved with another woman.

"You!" The woman obviously felt insulted and cursed angrily, "You ignorant bumpkin!"

"Call me a bumpkin if you wish; it’s still better than being the sole daughter of a rich family who ends up getting caught." Lu Hong asked, "Tell me, how did it happen that you were captured by the city guards?"

"How would I know? I was just going on an outing with Tong Tang, but unexpectedly, we were pursued by the city guards." Obviously, the beautiful woman did not have a smart brain.

"And what about the Tong Tang you mentioned?"

"I don’t know. Tong Tang told me he was off to hunt some prey and wandered off on his own. Then, suddenly, a group of city guards began frantically chasing me."

Hearing this, Lu Hong couldn’t help but laugh, "Don’t you usually have bodyguards with you?"

"Yes, my father assigned two Second Transition Level 3 experts to follow me day and night. I found them annoying and forbade them from appearing before me." After Lu Hong’s reminder, the woman suddenly remembered, "Right, I have guards! Why weren’t they there when I was being chased? When I get back, I will have my father severely punish them!"

"Are you an idiot? Those two bodyguards of yours were obviously killed by Tong Tang, who left. This outing must have been a trap set by Tong Tang to capture you." Lu Hong slapped the woman’s face without a friendly expression, a red sword light flashed, and he released the restraint on the woman.

"How dare you hit me?" The woman was startled. Though the slap did not hurt her, she had never been beaten before, and the humiliation outraged her, "You wait! I will have my father execute you!"

"Execute, execute, execute—execute your silly head!" Lu Hong slapped her again; he detested fools the most, and this demoness was certainly one of them, with absolutely no common language for communication, "By the time I get you to Tong City and receive my reward, I’ll be gone, so it’s best if you don’t keep yapping at me, or I might just kill you here and now!"

After being scolded by Lu Hong, the woman finally remembered she was in his hands, wanting to retort but cowed by Lu Hong’s tyranny, she could only glare fiercely at him to express her anger.

After this exchange, the road to Tong City became much quieter. For some unknown reason, after walking for more than two hours, they had not encountered a single demon, which was unexpected because a large city should be bustling with people coming and going every day.

"It seems this road has been deliberately blocked."

Lu Hong’s guess was correct. At this moment, a tall figure stood in the middle of the official road, his face calm and gloomy.

The woman happily shouted upon seeing the person, "It’s Tong Tang! Tong Tang, I’m here, quickly help me kill this thug!"

"Oh, look, the person concerned has arrived." Lu Hong sneered coldly; this foolish woman still didn’t grasp who was helping her.

The Tong Tang mentioned by the woman took a step forward, looked at Lu Hong and said, "Who are you to dare kidnap the sole daughter of the Kangre family?"

Lu Hong beckoned Tong Tang with a hand gesture, "We’re all intelligent people here; if you want to fight, let’s get on with it and not fabricate false charges."

"You’re brazenly arrogant; I’d like to see if you can bring Cui Xi back safely to Tong City today!" Tong Tang moved suddenly, his purple aura surging skyward.

"Oh, this looks promising." Lu Hong could see Tong Tang’s strength—Second Transition Level 2, a piece of cake.

"To your death!" Tong Tang began his attack, his purple demonic energy turned into a black winged bat, lunging at Lu Hong.

"Yes, that’s right! Tong Tang, show your family expertise and kill him for me!" The woman retreated to avoid being affected while also cheering Tong Tang on.

Facing the ferociously approaching black-winged bat, Lu Hong didn’t feel any pressure but instead started to critique Tong Tang, "Your skill in illusion isn’t quite there yet, look at this bat, its wings are asymmetrical, one larger than the other, seems like you’re still not proficient with this skill. Better go back and practice a few more years. Don’t embarass yourself by showing it off."

"Seeking death!" Tong Tang, of course, couldn’t accept Lu Hong’s unsolicited feedback, and the output of his Demonic Qi doubled in response. The bat, originally dozens of meters in length, suddenly swelled a bit larger, opening its massive maw towards Lu Hong.

"That’s more like it, now it’s got some power," Lu Hong finally felt a hint of a threat from his opponent’s attack. He then summoned the Blood Holy Sword, slashing down in one swift move.

A surge of qi as vast as a crimson tide covered the sky, and the ferocious bat was severed into two halves within the red surge, forcing Tong Tang to stumble backward several steps from the rebounding force.

"You?!" Tong Tang was shocked by the other’s move, not just the speed, but also the glimpse of qi he witnessed, which in terms of quantity, completely overwhelmed his own Demonic Qi.

It seemed Tong Tang had realized the extent of his power, and Lu Hong, with a smile, asked, "So do you think I should kill you now or let you go?"

Hearing Lu Hong present him with a choice, Tong Tang’s face drastically changed, "You can’t kill me, I’m the second son of City Lord Tong Shuai. If you dare to kill me, my father won’t let you off!"

"Tong Shuai? Who’s that?"

"You idiot! Tong Shuai is the City Lord of Tong City." Seeing Tong Tang defeated, the woman grew somewhat angry. After explaining to Lu Hong, she sneered at Tong Tang, "Weren’t you claiming to be the strongest of the young generation in Tong City? How could you be beaten so easily by this bumpkin?"

"Me?!" Tong Tang felt like spitting blood at the woman’s words. He was the number one amongst the younger generation in Tong City! But, but this guy in front of him clearly wasn’t in the same league; how could this be his fault?

"Tong Shuai?" Lu Hong murmured the name and then suddenly his sword struck out, a streak of blood shot up to the heavens, heading for Tong Tang.

Tong Tang was terrified, completely unable to react in time, and in his desperation, a black claw appeared between the two, blocking Lu Hong’s attack with a jarring roar that echoed for miles.

"Looks like a formidable figure has arrived." Lu Hong didn’t continue his attack but squinted at the black-robed figure who had suddenly appeared.

"Ge Lao? You’ve come?" Recognizing the newcomer, Tong Tang, who had narrowly escaped death, was full of excitement, "Ge Lao, quick, help me kill him."

Ignoring Tong Tang’s command, Ge Lao spoke to Lu Hong, "It seems a bit abrupt to attack City Lord Tong Shuai’s second son like this. Your surname and esteemed name haven’t been asked yet. Might I be so bold as to ask You to give Tong Shuai some face and spare Tong Tang?"

"I’m called Tu Kulu. And how important is this Tong Shuai’s face?" Lu Hong laughed, "I haven’t met him yet."

"Since Your Excellency hasn’t met City Lord Tong Shuai yet, then let me extend an invitation on his behalf. The Tong family will surely welcome Your visit with the highest honors. What do you think?" Ge Lao bowed slightly, showing much respect to Lu Hong.

"Okay, once I’ve collected my reward from the Kangge Lei family, I’ll stop by your Tong residence along the way." Lu Hong nodded, agreeing to Ge Lao’s request.

Hearing Lu Hong’s reply, Ge Lao’s face lit up with joy as he quickly said, "Then I shall await Your gracious presence at the Tong residence."

Tong Tang was unhappy listening to Ge Lao’s pleasant conversation with Lu Hong. He couldn’t understand why someone with the pinnacle of fourth-level strength should extend an olive branch to someone who ruined his plans and even tried to kill him.

With a gloomy face, Tong Tang coldly said to Ge Lao, "Ge Lao, after all, you are just a servant of the Tong family. By what right do you decide on behalf of my father? I now order you, in my capacity as the Tong family’s second young master, kill him this instant!"

"Heh heh, then I shall take my leave first," Ge Lao didn’t respond to Tong Tang but instead pressed a palm against him, suppressing Tong Tang with a vast Demonic Qi. He respectfully bowed to Lu Hong and quickly fled with Tong Tang in tow.

Ge Lao mustered all his strength and carried Tong Tang to a very distant place before finally relaxing, releasing Tong Tang from his bind.

The moment Tong Tang was freed, he loudly demanded, "Ge Lao, how could you be so respectful to that kid? You’ve thrown away all the dignity of the Tong family!"

"Master," Ge Lao gave a bitter smile and extended his right hand from beneath his robe, "This person called Tu Kulu is no ordinary individual. If I had said one wrong word, I fear both of us would have ended up dead on the official road."

Tong Tang looked at Ge Lao’s right hand, the very claw that had blocked Lu Hong’s attack.

"How...?!" Tong Tang wore a look of horror; Ge Lao was among the top three in strength among the Tong family’s servants. The collision just now actually caused him to lose three fingers!

Just who was Tu Kulu? How could he be so young and yet so powerful? A chill instantly rose from the depths of Tong Tang’s heart, and with it, a slight sense of defeat.
