Chapter 102: Chapter 100: Wilderness Battle Royale (Part 5)
"Earl!" The loyal followers rushed to support Sa Re as he fell backward, fully realizing the identity of their opponent from the sight of the blood characters.
"How... how is it possible?!" Sa Re couldn’t bring himself to believe that the one who had slain over eight thousand of his men in less than a day was the very person he had initially looked down upon and pursued.
"Sa Re, I’ve given you time to run for your life, you should cherish it."
At this moment, Lu Hong’s voice came from the top of a giant tree. Sa Re turned back to look and saw a Deep Red meteor arrogantly crashing down. The surrounding soldiers didn’t even have time to react before being shattered by the shockwave.
"Blood Qi Shockwave! You’re an Angry Blood Warrior!" Sa Re clenched his teeth, "You’ve killed thousands of my men, and now you dare to appear before me?"
"Sa Re, did you ever consider that the prey could become the hunter?" Lu Hong let out a cold laugh, "You were quite fierce when you started chasing me."
"Attack!" Sa Re didn’t want to waste words. At his command, hundreds of elite men instantly launched their assault.
Blood Qi Shockwave! Lu Hong activated the skill again. The majestic power of blood and qi converged in his heart, followed by a powerful heartbeat that exploded the compressed energy in an instant, spreading it around.
"Ice Shield!" The Mage quickly recited the incantation, and hundreds of half-meter-thick ice walls crashed down around Lu Hong.
One must know that these half-meter-thick ice walls, which condensed almost a quarter of the Mage’s Magic Power, were sufficient to withstand most skills of the same level.
But to Lu Hong, all of this wasn’t worth mentioning. His turbulent blood and qi power broke through the ice walls in an instant like a hot knife through butter.
"Control Earth, Dragon of the Land!" The Knights of Earth Elements promptly followed by creating a huge dragon entirely made of earth elements from the ground, but of course, the outcome was no different from that of the Mages.
With both lines of defense broken, Lu Hong’s skill was fully unleashed without resistance, the violent power of blood and qi instantly spreading throughout the field.
"Block it for me!" Sa Re held his longbow, and Magic Power burst forth, forming a protective shield in front of him.
Even someone as strong as Sa Re, a high-ranking professional of the wilderness, was forced back several steps by Lu Hong’s Blood Qi Shockwave, and the defense in front of him was breached in an instant.
As for Sa Re’s soldiers, hardly any of them could stand after the hit from Lu Hong.
"How... how can you be so strong?!" Sa Re could hardly believe his own eyes. The enemy was just a newly advanced Second Transition warrior! Though his closest men were not Second Transition Level 4, there were still more than ten at Level 3, but they too had fallen to a single strike from Lu Hong.
"I’ve given you time to run; don’t say I didn’t give you a chance!" Lu Hong sneered, "You’ve got nine minutes and fifty-eight seconds left."
"Go to hell!" Sa Re roared furiously, his longbow emitting a dazzling light as he swiftly notched and released an arrow.
Lu Hong, recalling the unpleasant experience from before, suddenly entered the state of Lion’s Arrival.
"Roar!" With an augmentation from his blood and qi power, Lu Hong let out a shout and sliced Sa Re’s incoming arrow into two halves with his sword.
"Since you won’t run, I’ll take your miserable life!" Lu Hong stepped across the distance in an instant, reaching Sa Re’s side and punching him in the face, sending Sa Re flying hundreds of meters away, crashing through countless giant trees.
"That hurts!" Sa Re, as a ranged archer with practically no defense to speak of, felt his face cave in from the punch delivered during Lu Hong’s state of Lion’s Arrival.
"Pain?" Lu Hong’s eyebrows arched, and with a swift move, he kicked Sa Re, breaking several of his ribs: "You seemed pretty happy chasing me before, right?"
"How... how can you possibly be this strong? I don’t believe it! I can’t!" Bloodied and terrified, Sa Re looked on as Lu Hong advanced step by step towards him.
"Actually, I never thought I would gain such a huge increase in strength after advancing to the Second Transition, but I can’t say no to such a pleasant surprise, can I?" Lu Hong walked up to Sa Re, the cold gleam of the Blood Holy Sword pointed at his throat.
"Don’t... don’t kill me, please don’t kill me," Sa Re pleaded, trembling in the face of death: "I can be your servant, I have many possessions, I can give them all to you, please don’t kill me."
"Who sent you?" Lu Hong asked.
"It... It was Luo Bolun, he sent me to assassinate you."
"Luo Bolun? Is he related to Luo Yi Si?" The name did sound like they could be siblings.
"Yes, Luo Bolun is the younger brother of Luo Yi Si."
"Really siblings, then. Is there a feud?"
Sa Re nodded and said, "Yes, Luo Bolun is the only direct male descendent of this generation of the Luo family and was designated as the heir from birth. But Luo Yi Si was so dazzling that it caused a split within the Luo family’s upper echelons regarding the succession, with a large faction beginning to support the talented Luo Yi Si who excelled in both literature and martial arts."
"Go on." Lu Hong sheathed the Blood Holy Sword and continued to listen to Sa Re recount the story.
"Luo... Luo Bolun’s position became threatened, so he was naturally at odds with his sister at every turn." Seeing Lu Hong sheathe his sword, Sa Re felt like his chances of survival were dangling before his eyes, so he eagerly continued explaining, "The siblings’ feud almost extended to affecting the entirety of the Red Kingdom, but three years ago, after Luo Yi Si’s favorite uncle was ambushed and killed, she suddenly disappeared into the wastelands, and no one knew where she had gone. Meanwhile, Luo Bolun, fearing his sister might be plotting something even greater, has been incessantly searching for traces of Luo Yi Si for the past three years, wanting to kill her to rid himself of future troubles."
The rivalry between the younger Luo Yi Si and Luo Bolun had the potential to affect the entire human realm within the wastelands’ plane?
Lu Hong, curious, asked, "Is the Luo family very powerful?"
Sa Re nodded, "Our Red Kingdom has two top noble houses. Apart from the Deep Red family that established the Red Kingdom, the other is the Luo family. But in the last thirty years, the Deep Red family has been on the decline, with the Deep Red Queen being the only notable figure left. In contrast, the Luo family has been ascending like the midday sun within the Red Kingdom, and it’s rumored that this generation’s Family Head of the Luo family could very well replace the Deep Red in controlling the entire Red Kingdom."
Lu Hong nodded, "Oh, I see."
Seeing Lu Hong looking satisfied, Sa Re tentatively asked, "So... can you perhaps not kill... "
Before Sa Re could finish speaking, the Blood Holy Sword flashed by, and a head rolled to the ground.
"I never agreed not to kill you."
Lu Hong’s gaze returned to the solemn Luo residence, where Luo Yi Si was sitting still in her boudoir. Everything inside was as it had been before, and not a speck of dust was to be seen, clearly indicating someone cleaned regularly.
However, at this moment, Luo Yi Si’s thoughts were not on reminiscing, but rather on her concern for Lu Hong. Logically speaking, for someone like Lu Hong who hadn’t even reached the Second Transition, the chances of survival against Sa Re were almost zero, yet Luo Yi Si still harbored a sliver of hope.
"Miss." At that moment, a series of knocks sounded from outside the room.
"Is that you, Grandpa Bei? Please come in," Luo Yi Si quickly got up to open the door and welcomed the guest herself.
The visitor was an old servant of the Luo family, past fifty years of age: "Miss, there’s no need for such courtesy; it truly humbles an old man like me."
"How could you say that? You are a distinguished meritorious servant of our Luo family; respect is well deserved." Luo Yi Si seated the old man and asked, "Grandpa Bei, have you heard anything about the matter I asked you to look into?"
Old Master Bei nodded, "I shall do my utmost for the Miss’s affairs. I rushed over to report to you as soon as I received news."
"Then please tell me, what is the situation exactly?"
"My people reported that after Sa Re arrived at the northern teleport point, he entered the border forest to begin his hunt, and there has been no word from him for three consecutive days."
"Anything else?" Unable to receive definitive news about Lu Hong, Luo Yi Si couldn’t settle down.
Old Master Bei shook his head, "Though mostly a ragtag bunch, Sa Re’s subordinates are extremely loyal to him. We dare not make excessive contact with them; in case Luo Bolun becomes aware, it would spell trouble. Thus, this is all the information we have for now. But I still must prepare you, Miss, to be ready for the worst. Based on the man you brought back who has only peaked at First Transition, it is practically impossible for him to survive at the hands of a myriad of Second Transition professionals."
"I know," Luo Yi Si replied quietly with a subdued expression.
"Ah! Miss, why did you come back?" Seeing Luo Yi Si out of sorts, Old Master Bei couldn’t help but lament, "You should have never returned after leaving the wastelands that year!"
