Chapter 1709: Chapter 1709: Blocking the Road

Li Yao actually saw members of the Starfire Core Group, which made him very curious.

The members of the Starfire Core Group, like other teams, were engaged in fierce combat. The back-and-forth battle was quite lively.

Because it was in a team format, unless there was a genuine clash between teams, it was rare for anyone to die, and casualties were very few.

However, it was also common for unlucky individuals to fall to the ground, killed by unexpectedly powerful attacks hitting vital areas.

Several teams guarded their respective passages without engaging directly. In the middle of the square, teleportation whirlwinds constantly appeared, and monsters flowed endlessly, creating a temporary balance.

Li Yao also noticed many closed passages, clearly meant to allow teams to pass through.

The numbers on the Starfire side were few, and Li Yao guessed that Starfire, like the so-called Bloody Robe Guild, was fighting in the square as their main force. Meanwhile, a portion was ambushing far in the passages, hunting other opponents to prevent their main team from being attacked from both sides.

Having understood the situation, the broodmother vanished into thin air.

Li Yao opened his friend list, most of which was gray, indicating they couldn’t communicate instantly due to distance.

But quite a few were lit up, suggesting they were relatively close and able to communicate in time.

However, Li Yao did not rush to contact them and continued advancing quickly.

"Prepare yourself; there’s a small team ahead ambushing us." Li Yao said quickly as he walked.

"I’m always ready. Such a small scene actually excites me; it’s been many years since I’ve felt this way."

The Black Dragon Queen appeared to stride slowly and gracefully, but her speed was anything but slow.

"You are bold, daring to crash into our ambush with just a small squad. Truly, ignorance is fearless."

The fleeing mage saw Li Yao and his team directly charge into the narrow passage and sneered coldly.

The passage, after turning a corner, was extremely long, at least several thousand yards. The mage was almost at the other end after consistently blinking.

Yet, Li Yao and his group paid no heed, directly killing into the passage, progressing quickly within it.

"With your intelligence, you’ll never fathom it, so keep your mouth shut." The Blue Dragon Queen scoffed.

"Haha, clueless even at the brink of death, truly pathetic. I’m from the Blood Clothes League..." The mage stood still, intending to announce his title.

But he was interrupted by the succubus, who planted a heart seal on the mage’s chest: "Nobody’s interested in your name."

The mage seemed to lose his soul, foolishly staring at the succubus, drooling.

When Li Yao and his team reached halfway through the passage, four strong crossbows and two cannons were deployed from the other side.

A player, seeing the mage’s dumbfounded look, didn’t overthink, and pulled him aside.

"Prepare to meet your end! A few arrogant lone wolves dare be so audacious, truly ignorant!" the leading warrior roared coldly.

A player with mechanical eyes shouted excitedly: "Fire up, send them to the sky."

Li Yao and his team showed no sign of stopping, maintaining their original pace, neither hurried nor slow.

"Aren’t you called Blue Robe? Now that you’ve met Blood Clothes, leave protecting the team to you." Li Yao charged ahead while starting to gather power, his Star Bow emanating a hazy glow.

With wings outstretched, the Snake Maiden matched pace with the Mechanical Avatar and said, "I’ll handle the crossbow arrows; the artillery shells are for Blue Robe sister."

"Fine." Blue Robe did not refuse.

Pa-pa-pa-pa...

The four crossbow arrows emitted sharp whistles upon being fired, resembling a Gryphon. It was the latest Griffin Crossbow from the main city of the Light Faction, incredibly powerful, designated for city wall defense, showcasing its robustness.

Moreover, the arrows were specially crafted with potent armor-breaking effects. Even strong shields cannot stop Steel Arrow, capable of piercing through dozens of layers of plate armor.

The arrows flat-shot, whistling as they came.

The confidence in Li Yao’s team regarding their own strength meant that once delegated to handle them, others ceased worrying and began contemplating how to eliminate them once in their attack range.

The Snake Maiden’s purple hair whipped wildly, her eyes now silver.

Swish-swish-swish-swish...

During the flight, the four Steel Arrows traced a bizarre arc, speeding overhead, then transformed into a path towards the incoming direction.

Simultaneously, the cannons boomed twice.

Two artillery shells sped across the sky with flame tails, possessing distinct explosive and incendiary traits—turning the passage into an inferno, disadvantageous under such high temperatures for Li Yao’s team.

At the very least, it could create a scorching sea of flames, blocking their path—be it sealing the front or rear, greatly disadvantaging the enemy.

From Blue Dragon Queen’s hand flew two ice dragons, akin to real Giant Dragons, though each was only one yard big.

Each ice dragon met an artillery shell, and upon contact, swallowed the shells, endless frost converging, forming two immense ice clumps.

Bang, bang...

The artillery shells still exploded violently, but the blasts occurred inside the ice dragons’ bellies, and coupled with the surrounding frost, failed to inflict much damage.

Ice shards filled the sky, pushed by the Blue Dragon Queen’s palm.

The ice shards halted momentarily, then transformed into countless ice blades, surging towards the opposite team en masse.

Simultaneously, the Steel Arrows controlled by Snake Maiden shot through, joining the swarm of ice blades.

Neither expending much energy, they simply redirected the opposing attacks back at them.

Li Yao wasn’t idle; just before the Blue Dragon Queen executed her technique, he released his fingers.

Equipped with two types of flame arrows, it didn’t fly straight but collided with a nearby wall.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding...

The arrows ricocheted off the passage walls, sparking in every direction.

"Dammit, what is this sorcery—ricochet; the opponent is Prairie Fire, damn it, activate invincibility!" the leading warrior bellowed.

Then came the scene of returning ice blades and steel arrows, fear etched across his face.

The Paladin, upon hearing it’s Prairie Fire, immediately activated invincibility, their inner acknowledgment of Li Yao’s prowess negating any negligence. After invincibility was applied, he raised his shield, intending to block the arrows.

In his view, even if invincibility couldn’t thwart Li Yao’s attack completely, it would weaken it enough alongside his dark gold shield to fend off the arrow.

However, a shocking scene unfolded—the last ricochet of the arrows caused an eerie deflection...
