Chapter 1649: Chapter 1649: Beetle Lord

The army of the High Elf Kingdom is undeniably an ace army, but the reason why the High Elf Kingdom is vulnerable without allies, even the ranger forces wouldn’t engage trolls directly, opting instead for guerrilla tactics, is because the high elf bodies are relatively frail.

By comparison, they lack enough robust tribesmen to become warriors or other frontline professions, and even their melee fighters are agile types like rogues or spell-breakers specialized in dispelling magic.

In Ancient Times, elves were unified, with high elves known as Upper Elves, and naturally Ancient Elves who couldn’t wield magic stood as the front line; at that time, druids and warriors were rampant, so they had no worries.

Later on, they were exiled and arrived at what was originally the location of Undercity, but after sensing the underground ancient god’s aura, they abandoned that place and continued northward.

They established their kingdom in the far north, starting from the Solar Corona Temple area, finding that not far from there was the troll capital.

The High Elves were harried and continued their northern migration, building a capital, but that too was troll territory, leading to a great battle, and the High Elves had no choice but to suffer defeat again.

Eventually, migrating north to an isolated island at the northernmost part of the continent where they could finally recuperate, but the island was too small and living supplies became an issue.

The High Elves used three bottles of water from the Eternal Well to construct a new energy source known as the Sunwell.

With a mystical source of magic, the High Elves’ confidence grew considerably, eventually establishing ranger forces who were hunters at the time.

Under the guidance of Windrunner ancestors, they once again landed on the Northern Continent and continually eradicated the far northern trolls through guerrilla warfare.

They fought valiantly, taking hundreds of years to allow the High Elves to occupy the northern peninsula, establishing a foothold on the continent, and by then, the Sunwell’s energy was abundant, creating a barrier covering both the island and peninsula.

And now, the tomb of the first generation Sun King stands there, where the High Elves’ Beginner’s Village is located.

Due to continued guerrilla warfare, these high elf hunters became adept at mountain and woodland combat, as well as long-range attacks, thus forming the ranger profession.

Over thousands of years, they eventually established the capital Silvermoon City beyond the peninsula.

But without a tank legion, they couldn’t engage trolls head-on and could only rely on magical barriers for defensive turtling.

Until humans rose, rapidly developing and threatening the trolls’ southern territories, leading both sides into battle.

However, humans lacked deep-rooted strength and heritage, and likewise suffered continuous defeat under the trolls of Zul’Aman.

Finally, the two races recognized each other’s existence, sending ambassadors and forming a Light Alliance, the precursor to the Light Faction.

The condition was that humans would deploy an adequate tank legion as the frontline for the High Elf army, while High Elves would select gifted humans to learn magical knowledge.

This led to the establishment of the Magic Kingdom of Dalaran.

The united armies gave humans mages, addressing the lack of ranged output, while High Elves had melee professions for protection, enabling them to indiscriminately slaughter enemies.

After a millennium of warfare, the trolls faced an immense defeat and finally retreated to their capital and surroundings, which is now the area of Ghost Land.

The High Elves fulfilled their wish by gaining all land north of Silvermoon Forest, while humans were rewarded with vast territories reaching the utmost limits of Tirisfal Forest.

In the ensuing millennia, the Windrunner Family moved to the Tower of the Windwalker, with efforts spanning generations, leading to the trolls now shrinking miserably within their main city as the High Elf magical barrier covered the entirety of Ghost Land.

Li Yao’s steel fire poison cockroaches may have passable attacking power against a player’s legion, but they fall short against max-level senior legions; the fire poison bomb merely acts to weaken and corrode opponents.

Nonetheless, the steel fire poison cockroaches have no special abilities but are tenacious and resilient, especially with their metal-forged armor, resulting in astonishing defense power.

Large size, strong life recovery, resilience, great strength, and they can burrow into the ground to rapidly restore life when near death, combined with the Blade Queen’s blanket recovery, making them akin to a bug in existence.

When both sides clash, neither abominations nor skeleton warriors can break through the unyielding fire poison cockroach defenses.

And the high elves of the Withered Sun Legion felt immensely reassured, their attacks were extremely piercing, and without concern of being attacked themselves, their spell and assault were like gales and showers.

Both sides’ ranged attacks and magic collided in mid-air, but soon, the undead’s spells were suppressed.

Though not as smoothly as reaping wheat, it still drove the undead legion into constant retreat.

Dalkhan knew best what terrifying combat power the high elves could unleash when protected.

"Lord Krakk, will you continue to spectate, or is it your time to act?" Dalkhan observed the slowly advancing Withered Sun Legion with an exceedingly somber expression, such failures were incredibly unpleasant.

"What useless weaklings, I really don’t understand why the Grand Lich still wants us to support you."

A huge armored beetle appeared, but it was immensely gigantic, akin to a colossal super tank, its armored covering exuding a metallic texture enveloped by a misty frost, the cold air felt from afar.

"Only a mindless guy like you doesn’t understand the Grand Lich’s intentions, because I’m very important." Dalkhan sneered.

"If you were important, you wouldn’t be stuck in such a backwater place." Lord Krakk sneered.

"Are you talking nonsense today because you feel guilty about attacking your former kin?" Dalkhan provoked.

"They’re nothing more than mindless killing machines, while we possess a splendid civilization." Lord Krakk sneered, "The Anubian creatures have fallen, controlled by a little elf, let me take people to end their pain."

Accompanied by a roar, numerous tank beetles rushed out from within the fortress, then burrowed into the ground, and after a while, many insects surged from the army flank’s ground, trying to strike from the flank.

Naturally, there were specialized forces to protect the flank, and players accepted protection missions, hurriedly directing armies to clash with the tank beetles.

But the beetles’ sizes were bigger than fire poison cockroaches, their charge was stronger, and their attacks ferocious, absolutely an ace army.

Players’ armies fell like wheat being cut down.

"Sir, I’m afraid the cockroaches won’t intercept them," Morning Breeze said, "Luckily they didn’t suddenly appear from underground; otherwise, we might have suffered significant losses"...
